Dear Adoption Network Law Center Family,
Where do I begin? The journey that brought us Kyle was filled with tears of sorrow and tears of joy. When we made the decision to adopt, God led us to you. Our first meeting was with our Adoption Consultant who was so warm and made us so hopeful. We wasted no time to get the paperwork done and our profile set up, we were so anxious. Then it was sit and wait.
Slowly calls came in with much anticipation. Almost one year later, we got a call from our Adoption Advisor and we were matched! We had everything in common with the Birthmother from how my husband and I met and she and the Birthfather met to fields of employment to favorite foods. We talked on the phone for hours, went to dinners, and I took her shopping for maternity clothes. I even felt the baby kick. It was due close to our wedding anniversary. Then our world turned upside down; ANLC received a letter that the Birthmother had decided to keep her baby. We were just six weeks away from her due date.
I know the call to me was one that all of ANLC dreaded. Our Adoption Advisor told me she hoped that she would be the one that would get to place the future call saying that we had been re-matched. For the next two months, we had our good and bad days, hoping that our prayers would be answered.
Then, we got the call. Indeed, our Adoption Advisor called to say a woman was in labor and asked if we were interested. Things seemed to happen so fast after that. Our handsome Kyle was born that evening and we brought him home two days later. He is 5 months old and the light of our lives. He is a happy baby who charms everyone he meets. We thank God every day for Kyle, love him with all our hearts, and can’t imagine our lives without him.
