 Dear Adoption Network Law Center,
When I think of all that we did to have a family, it's hard to believe that Adoption Network Law Center and the people within it made or adoption so easy for us. Through our journey, and prior to working with you, we faced many challenges and were met with much disappointment. Many families like us face the similar issues and wonder if their dreams of having a family will ever come true.
We were pursuing an International Adoption through a private attorney. We were about 1½ years into the process when we were notified that the country we expected to adopt a child from issued a statement about a growing backlog of families waiting for children. It went on to say that we would have to wait another 6 -12 months to adopt and that fewer healthy children were available. This was devastating for us.
Ironically, when my husband and I were sitting together as we read this shocking news, he was reminded of a conversation that he had with one of his friends that previous week about a domestic law center in Laguna Beach.
During our meeting with you, we were assured that an adoption would be possible for us in the near future. You even went on to say that in your estimation we would have a child placed with us within six months. This was almost impossible for us to believe after our experience with fertility treatments and our International Adoption efforts...we were skeptical. But, you were absolutely right. We met you in June and by September we were matched with a birthmother and our beautiful baby boy was born on December 9, 2002.
This is an unbelievable dream come true for us. We have a beautiful baby and he is bringing so much joy to our lives. We love and adore David and are having so much fun with him every day. Our hearts have expanded with the addition of our new son and we are so grateful to you and your law center for making this possible.
We also want to acknowledge how helpful Kim was to us throughout this entire process. She is a kind and caring person and did an outstanding job in helping us and supporting Linda, our birthmother before and after David's birth. Kim was a great sounding board for us as we worked through this process and gave us practical advice each step of the way.
We can't say enough to express how happy and grateful we are. Thank you to everyone at Adoption Network Law Center (Kim, thank you, thank you!) for helping us reach our ultimate dream of becoming a family.
