Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a
family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one. Jane Howard,
"Families".
Adoption Network Law Center has been in the business of making
families for over a decade, but it wasn't until this summer that the company
hosted their First Annual Family Picnic. Many times before, plans were
initiated but, because the day-to-day business is so overwhelming, a picnic
never quite got off the ground. Determination and a deep desire by the entire
ANLC staff to see all "their babies" was a major force behind getting this
picnic of the ground.
On Sunday, July 24, ANLC was host to almost 250 people
including families from all over the US, employees and family members, as well
a reporter and photographer from the local newspaper, The Orange County
Register. The day was filled with tearful exchanges of gratitude and
appreciation as the adoptive families reunited with the staff members who
helped make their dreams come true.
The festivities included games and face painters, jolly jumpers
and cotton candy, popcorn and a traditional BBQ lunch. Seeing all the happy
kids and parents running through Irvine Regional Park laughing and smiling was
truly inspirational. It has instilled even more desire to help women with
unplanned pregnancies help build new families.
Throughout the event, the attendees raved about the fun, food
and family atmosphere. Everyone one had fun and managed to beat the heat by
throwing water balloons and shooting water guns. After the picnic, ANLC was
flooded with thank you cards from families proclaiming their satisfaction with
the "wonderful picnic" stating that they all had "such a wonderful time".
ANLC is already in the planning stages for next year's event,
which promises to be even bigger and better!!! Be sure to bring plenty of
tissue
you'll need it!
