Douglas and Ruth Anne
Nickname(s): Doug and Ruth Anne

Hello there, dear birthmother,

Through the miracle of technology, we are communicating without ever having met. Although that is amazing, it pales in comparison to the precious miracle of life - which you have honorably chosen for your baby. May these positive steps truly comfort you, and bring you peace during this difficult time.

We are Doug and Ruth Anne, two people who met in college, became friends, and then grew to love one another. We have been happily married for nine of the eleven years we’ve known one another. Almost six years ago, we were blessed with the birth of our only child, our beautiful Danielle. Before Danielle was even one, we started planning for our next baby. During this time, the desire for a second child has only become stronger, and it is clear that God intends us to grow our family through adoption. Many members of Doug’s family are adopted, so we know first-hand that adoption is a wonderful way to grow a family.

We can’t wait to welcome a new baby into our lives. We will love, cherish, and nurture this adopted baby as much as we do our biological child, so that both our children achieve their dreams and goals. Our home is a loving one, with two devoted parents, a beautiful little girl, a goofy cat and a smart black dog. Danielle already adores her future baby sister or brother. She practices being a big sister with her dolls all the time. Our neighborhood is a safe one, full of young families with children of all ages. Our town is a small one, with many parks and playgrounds, and excellent schools. Education is very important to us, as we both have Master’s degrees. Both our children will have the opportunity to attend college someday, if they wish. We both work in the natural resources field, and have a deep and abiding love of nature. It will be a joy to expose another child to the wonders of the outdoors, whether it be camping, fishing, hiking, biking, boating, canoeing, or just plain messing around.

Our free time is family time. We are active members of a loving church, which we attend together each Sunday. We do the simple things, like eating supper together each evening. We have a fire ring in our backyard, and we often enjoy an evening by the campfire, playing badminton and roasting marshmallows. Doug loves to grill, and Ruth Anne and Danielle often team up to make brownies. If it is raining outside, we watch movies or play cards and games. In winter, we go ice fishing (really!), sledding, build snowmen, and even have snowball fights.  Then, it’s inside for hot chocolate! Each summer, we plant a vegetable garden, which is a wonderful way to involve kids with the outdoors and help them learn how things grow. We enjoy fresh vegetables throughout the summer, and even try to grow a Halloween pumpkin!

We have very loving extended families on both sides. There are grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who are so thrilled about welcoming a new baby into the family. Doug’s family lives within a couple of hours drive, and we get together with them often. Every year, we travel to Florida at least once and usually twice to visit Ruth Anne’s family. While there we swim, go to the beach, go to a theme park, and just enjoy being with one another.

Thank you so much for being the loving person you are, and for taking the time to read this letter. We would welcome the opportunity to know you better, and answer any of your questions about us. If you choose us, our adopted baby will always know about the kind, brave birthmother who gave him/her life. No matter what, we wish you the best in your adoption planning. God Bless.

With love,

Doug, Ruth Anne, and Danielle, and the pets Blackjack and Max
