Albert and Mary
Nickname(s): Al and Mary

Dear Birthmother,

At times in our lives we find ourselves where we never thought we would be. Writing this letter has been challenging – how do we introduce ourselves to you in a few paragraphs? We want to share this journey with you and believe that we can support each other.

We are Al and Mary. We do not know how you feel, but we do know that you have been blessed. Sensitive to your challenge in selecting a family for your baby – there is no greater gift you could give us than the honor of adopting your child. We would love and care for your child as our own.

We grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (not far from each other) and first met in high school. After graduating from college – chance brought us together. We dated for five years and have been married for six. Through good times and bad we have strengthened our relationship through open communication, patience, hard work and love.

Mary grew up two blocks from her grandparents (the oldest of three) and enjoyed hectic holidays with her 32 cousins (from her mother’s family alone!), always dreaming of being a mom. Mary enjoys new adventures and has volunteered for hospice, as a reading and religious education teacher, and as a tour guide for a historic mansion.

Born in Alabama, Al is an only child. Al spent summers with his two stepbrothers – camping, swimming and playing ball etc. Playing guitar in his ‘spare’ time – Al has been teaching Mary about music. Al is a grill master and enjoys creating recipes based on restaurant favorites (Mary is much more a ‘follow the recipe’ person!).

Believing firmly in education – we both received master’s degrees (Mary, a Master of Science/MBA and Al, an MBA). Living modestly – we have been diligently saving money (for college funds). We are avid Steeler fans and enjoy outdoor activities: hiking, camping, backpacking, sailing (as long as we have motion sickness medicine!) and training for sprint triathlons (not that we have competed yet!). Recently we have become fans of yoga. We enjoy museums, concerts and other educational opportunities. Our membership at the local YMCA has educated us on the many activities that are available for kids (it is absolutely crazy on Saturday mornings) and reminds Mary of her days attending a boys and girls club in Pittsburgh. We are an active couple that enjoys deep belly laughs and being silly, as well as challenging each other.

We would love, cherish and nourish your child. We are definitely family orientated, loving and caring. We believe in always striving for the best. Thank you for your time in getting to know us. We wish only good things for you and your baby.

Mary and Al
