Jarrod and Melissa

Dear Birthmother,

Life is a miracle, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for making the single most selfless, tough decision to create an adoption plan for your child. We are Jarrod and Melissa and we have been happily married since May of 2000. Over the years we have had many hopes, dreams, and goals that we have been very fortunate to accomplish. One of our biggest dreams was to start a family, but we have been unsuccessful over the past four years. Infertility is a hard, long road, but we have discovered some very positive outcomes. We have learned how to better communicate and support each other, we now have a deeper, stronger relationship, and we will soon have the wonderful opportunity of meeting you and your child. We would like to assure you that we are ready and able to love your child as our own.

Jarrod is an active duty officer in the U.S. Army, and has been since he graduated from West Point. He will deploy in October of 2008 for a year. The Army promotes strong family values and a sense of community, and it has allowed us to live in different areas and meet people from all over the world. We love traveling, and have visited numerous countries and cities. We love to see as many sights that a city has to offer, but it is a must that we visit beaches, zoos, and aquariums. We collect Christmas ornaments and smashed pennies when traveling, and have started a family tradition of decorating the tree while reminiscing about our adventures. We are excited to teach a child about nature, animals, and culture while spending quality family time traveling.

I am a registered nurse, but since I am such a family girl I decided to work out of my home for my family’s business. Although my family does not live in the same city, we are able to talk daily and visit monthly. We love to have family dinners, play games, golf, go to church, take annual beach trips, and most importantly play with our nieces! Jarrod is one of six children. We talk often with his family members who live in different cities, and visit at various times during the year. We just love when we can spend time with our nephews. Our extended families are very supportive of us adopting, and we know first hand from my adopted cousin how much joy and love adoption brings to a family. Family is extremely important to us, and we are excited for ours to grow.

When we are not traveling or spending time with family, we enjoy spending time outdoors. We golf and hike together, and we enjoy nature through walks, watching birds at the feeder, and feeding ducks at the parks. Jarrod is more athletic and also enjoys soccer, hockey, skiing, and scuba diving. Education is very important to both of us, and Jarrod will be graduating with his MBA in May of 2008. While he attends classes you can find me working in my rose garden, planting flowers, taking pictures of sunsets, or laughing with girlfriends.

We live in a four bedroom home in a neighborhood that has many amenities for children. We have two wonderful cats, Morgan and Sophie. Our city has wonderful parks, family festivals, sporting events, water activities, and outstanding educational opportunities.

One of the biggest desires of our hearts is to become parents, and we have worked hard to prepare for this role by building a solid marital foundation, a loving home, and financial stability. We will raise our child in a Christian home with high standards, morals, and values. We will have nightly family dinners, bedtime stories, and prayers. We want to assure you that we will unconditionally love and nurture your child, and help them develop into their fullest potential.

You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Love, Melissa and Jarrod
