Phillip and Athena
Nickname(s): Phil and Athena

Dear Birthmother,

The bumblebees in our garden are humming with the news. They are as excited and as busy as we are. Zigging and zagging, they collect pollen from the sunflowers in our garden, while we are busy getting ready to love, nurture, and embrace a precious baby.

We are thankful for all the friendship and love God has provided for us through our family and friends.  Family always has, and always will, come first in our lives. Our work schedule revolves around this idea. Athena is a fourth grade teacher and there are really no words to describe the benefits of teaching.  They are satisfying and everlasting. Athena’s students are a source of valuable information. She not only wants them to learn from her, but wants to learn from them as well. Phil has a degree in chemistry. He works in the pharmaceutical industry helping to develop new medications to improve the quality of people’s lives. He finds the work both challenging and gratifying.

We have been truly blessed with a close knit family. Ohio is home to both sets of grandparents, siblings, nieces and cousins. We love to visit and spend cherished moments together. We like to meet up with our friends and have a cookout on the beach. Both children and adults play horseshoes and backgammon while Chesapeake, our yellow lab, loves to chase tennis balls into the waves.  There is always something delicious cooking on the grill when Phil has the tongs in his hands. A big hit with our friends and their children are cherry pocket pies and campfire pizzas.

We enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle. Hiking, camping and fishing are some of our favorite pastimes. Visiting an art or science museum and the zoo are activities we also enjoy. We both feel it is important to get involved in humanitarian causes. Athena contributes to the fight against cancer by participating in the Relay for Life and by donating her hair to Locks of Love. Phil donates blood to the Red Cross, has donated to Locks of Love, and works for community social issues.

We have been married for twelve years. We continue to love, grow, and learn from each other with each passing day. God has opened our hearts to adoption because we have so much love to give a child. We want you to know that you are in our prayers. What a courageous and blessed woman you are. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter.

In our Hearts,

Athena and Phil
