Dear Birthmother,

Let us first express our immense gratitude for considering us as adoptive parents.  During these trying times, we all need reassurance and support.  What we are asking of you goes beyond any expression of dedication, compassion and understanding; we are asking for your trust.  Through your trust, we believe we can promise to make everyone’s dreams come true.

We are two people who seemed destined to become one family.   Ken is patient, caring, athletic and funny; Callie is intellectual, quick witted, energetic and loyal.   Ken’s calmness is a perfect match for Callie’s energy.  Together, we have developed a strong, loving relationship, one in which we both feel secure and safe.  

We love to travel and have been all over the United States.  Our goal is to visit as many National Parks, Forests and Monuments as we can.  Ken traveled extensively as a child and Callie did not, so it has been fun for Ken to watch Callie experience some of the sites he saw and remembered as a child.  For Callie, the love of nature and everything outdoors makes these trips extraordinary.   We love to camp and try to do as much camping as possible.  Ken can’t wait to take our child hiking and fishing; Callie can’t wait to teach our child the names of the trees, birds, flowers and animals, and we both cannot wait to see the miracles of the world through a child’s eyes.

Tennis is a huge part of our lives.   Ken works as the Tennis Director at a local club, which keeps him plenty busy with clinics and private lessons, most with children who he has taught for years.  But he still finds time to play, and Callie is his favorite partner!  This past year we were on a team that finished first in our local league play, and then went on to come in second in our section.  In the past, we have won several local, state and sectional tournaments, and we’ve learned about our strengths and weaknesses, both on and off the court.  For example, Ken can be strategically minded and wants to talk about each point while Callie relies more on her athletic ability and likes for Ken to be her personal coach on the court.  Tennis is an extension of our belief that the sum of us together is stronger and better than either of us individually.

In addition to outside activities and tennis, we both love the arts.  We are amateur painters and potters, and again we work as a team.  Ken likes to make the pieces, and Callie likes to add the whimsical touches such as small animal figures or trees.  We enjoy music, and have a great friend who is a singer-songwriter.  Last year at Christmas, this friend helped Ken record a song and video for Callie – a gift from the heart.  Ken is a gourmet cook, and Callie is his sous-chef!  All aspects of our lives would be enhanced with a child, and we constantly talk about how much a child would help us grow and learn.

In exchange for your trust, we are offering you our hope.  We hope to be terrific parents; we hope to give our child a challenging, loving, adventurous, exciting, full life.  Finally, we hope that through this experience all involved will be enhanced, all will feel fulfilled in their own way, and all will know that with teamwork, love, hope and trust, anything is possible.
