Dear Birthmother,

We appreciate your interest in our story.  Our names are Zan and Jessica.  We believe in our hearts that while life sometimes brings people together in unexpected ways, they are always brought together for a reason.  We pray for you that you will find exactly what you are looking for in a family for your child, and we pray even more that you will find that in us.

We met over 20 years ago.  Our families lived in the same neighborhood.  We lost touch for many years, and reconnected in 2004.  At that time, we began dating, and soon after were married in a small ceremony in our hometown in Arizona.  We decided to start our family right away, but that turned out to be more challenging than we thought.  After a miscarriage and failed fertility treatments, we are convinced that God’s plan for us is adoption, and we are so excited!  We have overcome many personal challenges together, like our infertility, and it has made us stronger as individuals and as a couple.  We find strength in each other, and will work together as a team to raise a great family.

We now live in a beautiful mountain town in New Mexico, where Zan is the Executive Chef at a resort, and Jessica is the School Counselor at a public elementary school. Zan also teaches martial arts and self-defense classes.  Zan has loved cooking since he was a young boy, making up his own salad dressings and cooking for members of his church by the age of 15.  Jessica used to play school with her brothers and cousins often, and knew at an early age that she wanted to work with children in the school system. 

We have a lovely, 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom ranch-style adobe home with a spacious backyard and large deck for picnics and barbeques.  Jessica’s mother lives in the 2-bedroom guesthouse and cannot wait to meet her new grandchild!  She will be our source of childcare when needed, as will our aunt who also lives nearby.  We also have a Boston Terrier named Buster, who has a great sense of humor and loves to play with anyone and everyone who will give him attention.  In the evenings, he loves to snuggle on the couch and watch TV with his parents.  Macy is our enormous black kitty, who thinks she is a dog!  She is very affectionate and playful as well. 

Jessica has two brothers and three nephews and Zan has one brother who all eagerly await their new family member!  They all live just six hours away in Arizona.  We take turns visiting each other every month and for holidays.  We like to travel every summer to visit cousins in New York. 

Finally, our promise to you is that a baby placed in our arms will be raised with love and respect and an understanding of the miracle that created our family.  We promise that he or she will know that your plan for adoption was made out of your love and commitment to providing them the best possible future.  Their life will be filled with warmth, security and lots of fun!
