From Us to You

Dear Expectant Mother,

The first thing we want you to know is that we are praying for you daily. We want you to be at peace with your decision, and know that there is no way we can adequately express how grateful we are for YOU. This consideration is one of the toughest any person can make, and we hope that you know how precious and strong you are.

We will celebrate our tenth anniversary this summer, and look forward to many more years to come. We enjoy the simple pleasures life has to offer, and hope to be able to share those with your child as he or she grows.

We live in a small town, somewhere that has enough stores and restaurants to keep things interesting, but small enough that you run into someone you know nearly every time you go into one. We are part of a supportive, loving community that is even now helping us accomplish our dream of adopting a baby. We’re also only a couple hours away in several directions from big cities that offer a variety of events to enjoy.

We live within just a few miles of both our immediate families, and have a large extended family as well. We belong to a church that feels like an even bigger family that provides many opportunities for us as well as for the children of the congregation to grow in love. We have both been honored to find ways we can serve in our church that bring us joy.

We truly believe that God will open the right doors for us to adopt a child, and that you are part of His plan for our family. We have so much love to give, and want you to know the baby that comes into our lives will be treasured as a long-awaited gift.

With love,
Christy & Michael

A Poem by Michael

We wanted to share a poem that Michael was inspired to write about our adoption journey.

Little Heart

To the little heart that has yet to be formed in God’s hands to be placed in our arms,
There is an abundance of love waiting for you.
For the little body that will wrap around your little heart,
There is an abundance of hugs and snuggles waiting for you.

For the little child that will brighten our lives,
There is an abundance of Family waiting to encourage you.
For the soul that is in the new member of our Family,
There is an abundance of Grace and God waiting for you.

For our Little Baby that we are waiting on,
There is a Mother and Father waiting for You,
To love You,
To hold You,
To raise You,

And most of all to open up our big hearts and give them to You.
Until we meet, we pray for you and your journey into our lives,
With an abundance of God waiting for Us.

Why We Are Choosing to Adopt

We are pursuing infant adoption because we feel like we still have so much love to give. Family is about love, not DNA. We are looking forward to teaching your child things we believe in as a family. Things like how respect for others is the cornerstone of healthy relationships; quality time with people we love is precious; hard work and dedication to what they love to do.

We take great enjoyment in the small things in life as well as the big milestones. We get together with our families for birthdays and holidays, but also for things like ball games and cook outs. We have a large extended church family that has given us so much support in this journey that we feel like our “village” is always behind us.

About Christy, by Michael

Christy is a thoughtful and purpose driven individual, with an astounding and loving heart. She is focused on her family and wants nothing but the best for them. She is very knowledgeable and is willing to learn new things to help minimize the gaps between those she cares for. She has many talents that include cooking and baking, horses and animal husbandry, relearning to play the piano and being extremely crafty by making/ designing many of the items that we offer in our small business. She has, over the years given of herself to many groups within our church to help the youth of all ages. Christy loves to spend time reading her books, even if she has read them several times! She helps me any time I ask regardless of what it is I may need, and is willing to help me and others try to improve our processes to make things easier for us.

About Michael, by Christy

Michael is a hard-working, loving, sweet and funny man who loves his family with all his heart. He enjoys being outdoors, working with our cattle, horses, or dogs and tinkering on his tractors and trucks. He can be counted on to help anyone who needs an extra hand and gives generously of his time and knowledge. He can be a quiet but strong leader, whether helping with youth ministry and scouts or playing in the praise band. He is a man of many talents and continues to be open to learning new things whenever he can.

Our Lifestyle

We live in a rural community that is big enough to still provide opportunities for entertainment, sports, and fun. Our home has a couple of extra bedrooms that we use for family and friends to stay when they visit. We enjoy things like fire pits and cook outs, professional as well as local league sports, and getting together with loved ones for cards and board games. Michael works for the railroad and loves his second career, after 26 years serving in the Missouri Army National Guard. Christy works from home and looks forward to being a stay-at-home mom that still has a full, rewarding life. We attend a Methodist church almost every week, and try to help with any other activities and groups that we are able. Christy enjoys baking and volunteers to provide cookies once a month for weekend services. Michael has played in the praise band. We both help with the youth and kids’ ministry.

Our Pets

We have several dogs that live in the house with us, taking over the furniture, though they also very much enjoy their dog door and fenced back yard. George is the biggest baby we have, a German shepherd who more often than not lays right in the middle of the floor so you can pet him any time you need to walk through the house. Jazzy is one of our retired breeding dogs who now loves being a house dog and keeping an eye on everyone from her spot in the middle of the couch. The two beagles, Fancy and Punkin, definitely know they are special. From their booster seat for car rides to their toy box, they enjoy being pampered. Opening any kind of plastic bag means you’ll quickly have doggie company because they know that sound means there could be treats!! But we enjoy spoiling them because we know how much love and happiness we get back from them in return.

Home & Neighborhood

Our home is a single-story house with lots of room inside for family get-togethers and sleepovers, and with 40 acres outside for dogs, cats, horses and cattle. We live less than 10 miles from town, so close enough to easily enjoy restaurants, movies, parks and sports, but far enough away that we can have a bonfire for friends and family to enjoy a quiet evening outside. We live in a community that still holds parades for quite a few holidays every year, has a huge 4th of July celebration, and takes advantage of the small-town feel. We’re situated just a couple hours from three major metropolitan cities that offer even more avenues for entertainment and fun.

Our Families & Friends

We live within just a few miles of both our immediate families, and have a large extended family as well. Our parents are all still living and so excited to welcome another grandchild into the fold. We have aunts, uncles, and cousins ready and waiting to love on this baby and help it be a part of a close-knit family. We belong to a church that feels like an even bigger family that provides many opportunities for us as well as for the children of the congregation to grow in love. There have been so many people in our church that have strived to help us through this adoption journey, we feel like our “village” is always expanding with love and support.

Cultural Diversity

Our community includes people from many different places around the world so we feel like we see many different nationalities even though we’re not in a huge town. We also are only a couple hours from three large metropolitan areas so have the opportunity to include many different cultural events and exposure.

Traditions

Since our large extended families live nearby, we coordinate holidays with as many family members as we can. We play cards or board games and talk so we can catch up with everyone. We spend those days sharing not only a meal but also fun and laughter because we have a few comedians in the group.

Our Promise to You

There’s no way we can completely understand all the emotions you are going through, but we pray for your comfort and peace as you navigate your journey. We know that our baby will find us at the right time, and hope to be able to share as much as we can with you going forward from that day. We want to give you as much support and love as we will give the baby that you will share with us. Please know that even though we haven’t met yet, we’ve been praying for the woman who will help us fulfill our dream and hope that you can feel the warmth of our caring.
