We promise to give the unconditional love and support that you desire your baby to experience. Our priorities are to offer a loving home, safety, acceptance, care, and well-being for your child; guiding your child carefully as he or she grows and navigates life by providing the best education we can possibly give, offering wisdom and support along life’s journey so he or she can access all the opportunities available.

We would love to hear from you to learn how we can support you and pray for you.

With love and appreciation,

Lila & Kwok

Why We Are Choosing to Adopt

When we became a serious couple, we talked about the possibility of children and realized that we both wanted to adopt. We share a unique love towards others and we adore children and know that we can love an adopted child as if he or she were our own. We became excited about the prospect of helping a birth mom and treasuring and caring for a child.

We would be honored to unconditionally love and cherish your child in the way that you would wish. Our desire is to communicate your child’s adoption story with love and gratefulness and we are intentional about creating a family that feels safe, secure, honoring, and accepting. We are very affectionate, attentive, and encouraging and want to give your child the very best life has to offer.

Our Marriage

In 2010, we met as co-workers and soon became close friends. As we spent time together, we realized that we were very compatible, enjoyed doing the same activities, and had deep conversations.

We fell in love, and in March 2014 we were engaged to be married in December that same year.  After 6 years of marriage, we’re still having fun, are the best of friends, and enjoying life in community.

People have told us often, “Your marriage is a role model for me when I get married one day – I see you work together well, you honor each other, laugh together, and have the same focus.”

When we were planning our wedding, we were surprised to realize that we had the same vision: to highlight and honor others who have supported us along the way.

What We Value

Joy overflows in our home as we’re both comedians in our own right. We’re constantly joking and laughing, enjoying each other and the things life brings us day in and day out.

We love our church and consider them part of our “extended family.” We always make time for the people we love when needs arise.

The beauty of Hawaii is all around us and we make the effort to never take it for granted. We intentionally celebrate small victories in life such as accomplishing a goal or finishing a project. This cultivates thankfulness in our regular routines.

We love to give back to others, especially people who are broken, impoverished, or in need. It’s truly our gift to help others by offering a helping hand, providing a meal, or a listening ear.

Whether it’s our church family or our biological family, we feel family is the most important and prioritize them in our lives.

What values do you hold dear?

We would love to know so we can cultivate them into our family and share them with your child.

About Lila

Lila loves the outdoors. She enjoys going for walks, sitting on the beach, sharing a meal with friends, and exploring the island. Her favorite indoor activities include reading, music, and watching movies. She also loves to cook, especially finding new recipes to try.

For work, she owns a business that helps companies improve the effectiveness of their leaders. She helps leaders become more productive by caring for their teams and employees and by using efficient processes to make work easier.

Lila leads a weekly homeless outreach, along with a team of others, where people on the street can get a warm shower, clean clothes, and receive a hot meal. She also serves in our church’s counseling ministry that gives folks the opportunity to hear from God and receive healing for deep wounds and emotional pain.

Her passion is to see people live in their purpose and find what they need to fulfill it. Lila is the supreme jokester, making people comfortable, and bringing them joy. People want to be around and “hang out” with her as she brightens their day, while also speaking deep wisdom into their life circumstances.

About Kwok

Kwok loves the ocean. He loves snorkeling, exploring the rich aquarium-like world underwater, and especially looking for shells. He loves relaxing on the beach and taking photos of the gorgeous Hawaiian sunsets.

He also loves to ride his motorcycle around the island with friends, stop for coffee, and continue on to take in the incredible views. His favorite indoor activity, by far, is having people over to visit, whether it’s another couple or our weekly small group from church.

As an extrovert, he thrives in being around others, talking about church, what God has been doing in each other’s lives, and creating a family culture with them. He also loves to read, watch movies, and cook (especially grilling outdoors!).

Kwok is the Pastor of Discipleship for our church. He supports small group leaders by helping them overcome struggles, celebrate successes, create vision for their groups, and offer leadership training.

His passion is to work with other leaders to build their ministries, pray for others, and watch how God comes through for them.

Kwok also has a wonderful sense of humor, making people feel at ease immediately. He has a unique gift of bringing people together from completely different backgrounds and making them feel like a family. People often seek Kwok out for his listening ear and the rich insight he offers into situations they’re facing.

Home & Neighborhood

We live in a new condominium, surrounded by parks & playgrounds, walking & bicycle paths, shops & restaurants. We love walking to nearby shops, especially an occasional after-dinner stroll to a nearby hand-made ice cream parlor for a treat. We preserve our home as a sacred space for rest and connection. We regularly host dinners for our family to enjoy, connect and feel refreshed.

About Hawaii

Hawai`i is known for an `Ohana (family) culture where there are many aunties and uncles.  Being in community is a local and personal value we walk out daily.  There are many nationalities of people that reside here and we have fully appreciated the diverse community, food and traditions.

Hospitality is second nature here and taking care of each other and the environment are also highly valued. People are very loyal to their community and love keiki (children). Often, we engage in family opportunities to work the land by harvesting Taro plants, rebuild rock walls or nature preserve clean up.

Hawaii is famous for its broad diversity and rich cultural heritage. We are also known for dancing the Hula, `Ohana gatherings around food (family potlucks) and spending quality time together. Hawaii is slow paced and laid back as people care about deepening relationships while also being active.

Family Traditions

Living in Hawaii has made creating traditions as a family easy and fun. With the year-round beautiful weather, we go to the beach regularly and go outside every day.

Our daily routine is to take our dog Bentley out for his walk and running into neighbors and his “fur friends.” Bentley is famous in the neighborhood and has his own fan club of followers (he even has his own Instagram account!).

As a family, we like to cook and eat dinner together so we can connect by catching up on the day’s events and any other newsworthy items.

Traveling to the neighbor islands is a highlight for us. Also, visiting Lila’s parents in Florida, especially at Christmastime. We decorate the Christmas tree, prepare dinner together, make Christmas candies together, explore holiday lights, and catch up on what’s been happening throughout the year.

Are there traditions that are special to you?

We would love to hear about them so we can incorporate them into your child’s life and share why they’re meaningful.

Our Families

We each have loving, supportive parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces. We both have fond memories of growing up and attending school.

Our families emphasized the importance of education that inspired us to pursue a higher education. We both have college degrees that have contributed to successful careers in healthcare. We feel education is important in a child’s life to allow for more opportunities as an adult. We both found faith as adults and it has become the cornerstone in our lives.

Our parents and siblings are always there for us if we need anything. We see Kwok’s parents and brothers regularly at Sunday dinners and various holidays and celebrations throughout the year. They would drop anything to help us if we needed it. We share beach gear and take his niece and nephew to get ice cream. Grandma (Kwok’s mom) loves her grandbabies is always happy when we all come for a visit.

Before You Go

We hope you’ve gotten a snapshot of who we are, what life in Hawaii is like, and what we care about. Our desire is to make you feel comfortable and answer your question so that you can rest assured that your baby will be well cared for.

As we cultivate a culture of honor and respect in our marriage and family, we desire to model this for your child, while providing the loving, stable, happy family that you would want for your baby.

Thank you for reading and learning about us. We want you to feel as excited about getting to know us as we do about getting to know you. We would be honored to be given the chance to love and care for your child for the rest of his or her life.

We are praying for you during this journey to feel confident in making the best decision for you and for your baby.
