From Me to You

I know that considering an adoption plan for your baby is the hardest decision of your life, and I want to tell you that you are stronger and more caring than you know. I know this is overwhelming and confusing, and I cannot even imagine what you are going through and feeling, but I do know that as you get to know me you will see that I am here to support you through this, welcome you into my family, and love not only your baby but you, for the rest of my life. Becoming a mother is something that I have always wanted, more than anything, and I hope in learning about me you can see how much love and support I have to give to your child.

I was born in a small town in Ohio and stayed there until I was 8 when the family moved to Arizona. I have two wonderful parents, who are still happily married after 41 years, and live only a few minutes from me. They are over-the-moon excited to be on this journey and to say they spoil their grandchildren is an understatement! I also have a younger sister who lives very close and has a 2-year-old son named Jackson. Being Auntie Stephanie is the best role I have had yet. We all get together at least once a week for home-cooked family dinners and spend hours talking and hanging out. In addition to this immediate family, I have two living grandmothers nearby and an aunt and uncle who I am very close with. They come to visit several times a year. I also have cousins that live in Ohio, are married and have several young children between them. We are all very close, regardless of distance and talk or Facetime frequently. Being such a small family, we have become very close and can depend on each other no matter what!

I have gone through many years of schooling and finished in 2012 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. I see mostly dogs and cats, and recently purchased 50% of the clinic I have been at since graduation. This has been a wonderful occupation and provides everything I could ask for; but I am still missing my one true desire; to be a mother. Animals have always been a huge part of my life: at the early age of 8 I declared I wanted to be a veterinarian and I was able to make that dream a reality. I remember the day in 2nd grade when I made that decision. We had a class pet that was a snake. This snake was sitting in my lap and “relieved himself” all over me!! This was super gross but as an 8-year-old I said, “It happens” and put the snake back, then went to clean up. That love of animals only grew from that day. I currently have a 3-year-old cavalier-bichon mix dog named Rascal; he is the adorable dog in my pictures. He is by far the most loving dog I could ask for; he loves attention and to cuddle and loves to play with my nephew. They will play and chase each other for hours!

My home is in a quiet neighborhood close to parks and one of the top elementary schools in the area. There are many young children in the neighborhood who love to play outside. When the weather is nice, I enjoy being outside, spending time with friends, and doing yard work. I can envision myself helping your child learn to ride a bike, playing with bubbles, or coloring with sidewalk chalk in my house and neighborhood.

My family has had a tradition of going on a family vacation every summer. Some years it’s California, some years it’s back east to visit family, and we have done cruises as family. Regardless of what or where we are, we take that week to reconnect and have fun. Bringing a child into this is something I cannot wait to do! I can imagine taking him or her to Disneyland for the first time and seeing those eyes light up as their favorite Disney characters come to life before them. Watching the excitement of the world opening up for your child, through their eyes, is something I cannot wait to do and get excited thinking about all of the experiences and places we will go.

My favorite holiday, by far, is Christmas and I have several traditions including making Christmas cookies, decorating, driving around looking at all the lights, watching favorite Christmas movies and, of course, waiting for Santa on Christmas Day! Thanksgiving is another big holiday for our family. My extended family will come into town and we have a big Thanksgiving dinner after watching the parade and football all day. Each holiday is special and has meanings and traditions that I cannot wait to share and spend with your child as well as you!

There is a lot for you to consider when thinking about making an adoption plan for your child, and I want you to know I have a heart full of unconditional love to give to a child. Your child would be in a stable and safe home and environment, financially supported regardless of what challenges life throws our way, have access to the best education they desire, and above all will always be my top priority. You also will always be a part of our lives, loved, and cherished. It will be a priority to keep you involved and able to see your child grow as well! Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and get to know me a little better!

With Love,
Stephanie

Why I am Choosing to Adopt

I am choosing to adopt for a simple reason, I have always wanted to be a mom. I have always loved children and have wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember. I focused most of my younger years on school and career and never met the “man of my dreams” to settle down and start a family with. I am a strong, independent woman and know what I want out of life, including my career, my home, and owing my own veterinary practice which has led me to becoming financially stable. I am ready to welcome a baby into my life and know I will be a wonderful mom and can offer anything under the sun to a child.

About Me

I am originally from a small town in Ohio and moved to Arizona when I was 8 years old. I have loved living here since, have put down great roots and do not plan on moving from here. I have 2 amazing parents that live only a few minutes away and would drop anything to come help me if needed. I also have one younger sister who has a 2-year-old son, my nephew Jackson. I am an avid animal lover and have a 3-year-old cavalier-bichon dog name Rascal. He is the best dog I have ever had and brings so much happiness and love into my life. From a young age I have always known I wanted to be a mother and have a child. Over the years I have worked hard to accomplish my dreams of being a Veterinarian ad owning my own business and home. But no matter how much success I have in other areas of my life I am missing a big piece of my life, and that piece is a child. I have so much love to give and share and cannot wait to have the opportunity to do that. If you were to ask any of my friends or family to describe me, they would say: caring, loving, intelligent, empathetic, trustworthy, and determined. I hope a prospective birth mother, like you, will consider me to adopt your child and see and know how much I will love your child as well as you for the rest of my life. I also want you to know that I would make sure your child knows about you and the sacrifice you made, from love, to ensure that they have the best of everything.

My Family

My extended family is a large part of my support system. My grandmothers both live close by and cannot wait to be great-grandmothers again. I see my grandmothers as often as I can, at least once a week. I am very close with my aunt and uncle; although they unfortunately live in Ohio, they come out several times a year to visit and we always enjoy spending time together. I have 2 cousins who also live in Ohio. They are both married and have several kids between them. My aunt and I talk almost weekly and I talk with my cousins regularly. We all get together at least once yearly for Thanksgiving and spend the time cooking, exploring different parts of Arizona, playing games, and just enjoying each other’s company. Along with fantastic immediate and extended family I have several long-term friends going back 20+ years as well as several newer friends that I have known for the last few years. We get together and do things such as go out to eat, have movie nights in, go to kids’ birthday parties, or have game nights. This is a very loyal group of friends and are all excited to be on the adoption journey with me. Aside from myself welcoming your child with open arms I will have my parents who are beyond excited to welcome a new grandchild into our family. My extended family are already planning a time to come visit when they know we are home and settled. Every friend or family member I have shared my adoption journey with is super excited to welcome a baby into our lives and has so much love to share. Each one has said how I was meant to have a child and will be a fantastic mother.

My Home

I have a beautiful, fully-renovated home that has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a separate office, a kitchen that opens to the large family room, a formal dining room, and indoor laundry room. Most of the renovations have been done by me and my father; doing home projects is a favorite pastime we enjoy doing together. My neighborhood is quiet and full of families and other kids. There is a good sense of community and neighbors are always willing to help each other out when needed. I am close with several of my neighbors and attend their kid’s birthday parties as well as just hang out and barbeque. It is a very safe neighborhood and I always feel safe outside regardless of the time of day. I am close to shopping, malls, grocery stores, and medical facilities, but am still nestled into a quiet community. There are parks within walking distance with green grass play areas along with swing sets and other playground equipment. One of my favorite things about living here is the sense of community and how we all interact with each other. We all decorate for Christmas and other major holidays. On Halloween everyone sits outside and hands out candy and talks. We take turns watching each other’s houses while parents take their kids trick or treating. Some years we have a barbeque cook-out while handing out candy too. There are get-togethers for the community a couple times a year where kids are encouraged to come, such as a big Easter egg hunt or 4th of July.

My Sweet Pup

I have one spoiled little dog named Rascal. His is a 4-year-old mix between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon, called a Cavachon. He has the best personality and loves everyone he meets. He especially loves kids. When my niece and nephews are over, he will spend hours playing with them and watching them play around him. He loves to play fetch, go on car rides, or just cuddle up on the couch with a blanket. I know he will love to have a baby in the house that he can grow up playing with and they will be best friends.

My Lifestyle

My lifestyle is what I would consider simple. I own my own home in a safe and family friendly community. Over the past few years, I have enjoyed completely remodeling my home with the help of my dad and have pride that we did everything ourselves and it is the perfect home for me and my soon-to-be family. I love my job and genuinely enjoy going to work every day. Owning a general, small animal veterinary practice has been the most rewarding experience of my life so far, both financially and emotionally. I enjoy teaching new nurses and veterinarians how to do things from my experience and love to see their faces light up when it suddenly clicks. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have two nephews and one niece who live close by and I enjoy spending weekends with them and watching them grow and become their own individuals. I enjoy a laid-back Sunday at home watching movies, playing with my dog, and relaxing with a good book. However, I do also enjoy spending time out with friends and enjoy meeting up at the park so the kids can play or catching a quick bite to eat between life events. My lifestyle has afforded me all I could dream of so far and there is not one aspect of my life that is not ready for a baby to join.

My Hobbies

Some hobbies and things I enjoy are home improvement projects, playing piano, and baking or cooking. I also enjoy curling up with a good book or doing a fun puzzle. I love to go on vacation as much as the next person. When I can get away for a few days I like to go to Las Vegas, Laughlin, California, or Ohio. I have even been on a few cruises to Mexico. Sea World and Universal Studios are some of my favorite places to visit in California and when I go to Ohio I visit my aunt, uncle and cousins. My dream vacation would be to take a cruise to Alaska. I have heard it is beautiful scenery and a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Since I cannot be on vacation all the time, though I am sure we all wish we could, a typical day for me includes working at my practice, then after work I come home and feed my dog, Rascal, and usually make dinner for myself. Occasionally I go out to eat after work with some friends. After dinner I spend the rest of the evening reading, watching TV, playing with Rascal, doing projects around the house, or running errands. Weekends are more for fun and relaxation. I catch up on any household chores but then like to spend time with my nephew, have family dinners, spend time with friends, barbeque, as well as explore new places and things to do in Arizona.

My Career

I knew I wanted to be a Veterinarian since I was in second grade and the class pet, a snake, peed all over me! While all the other kids in class were yelling and freaking out, I just got up and put the snake back and went to clean myself up. I have held onto that passion through 4 years of undergrad studies where I received a Bachelor of Science degree. From there I went on to complete my graduate work and received my Masters in Pathobiology. Finally, I moved to California where I studied for an additional 4 years and received a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Once I completed school I moved back to Arizona to start my career and to be near family. My immediate family is all in Arizona and I did not want to start this new phase in my life and, hopefully, start a family without them near. Since graduating in 2012 from veterinary school, I have worked at a local small animal practice as a general practice veterinarian. I see mostly dogs and cats, where I am able to provide wellness and preventative care as well as advanced medical and surgical care for sick or injured animals. I love my career and look forward to going every day. I envision being able to share this with your child and watch them light up when they get to see and play with a puppy or kitten. I can picture bringing him or her to work with me and teaching them all about the love an animal gives and why we have to take such good care of them as well as getting to spend that extra time with your child and bond over a, hopefully, mutual love for animals.

How Having a Child will Enrich my Life

I do not know how to even begin to write how having a child will enrich my life for the better. When I close my eyes and think about my future and my plans, there is always a child present. I know it will be hard, but I also know that I have so much love to give and cannot wait to be able to receive that love back from a child. I look forward to all the firsts; first time walking, first words, first solid foods, and envision how special that will be and how I cannot wait to share these moments and my life with a child.

Family Traditions

I have a lot of fun traditions that I loved doing as a child (and continue to do) and hope to be able to pass on to your child. My absolute favorite time of year is Christmas. I love all the activities, lights, food, and family gatherings. Every year, as a family, we play Christmas music, make cookies, and decorate a big Christmas tree. I remember making paper chains to go around the tree as a kid and using them to help count down the days until Santa would come. Every Christmas Eve my parents and I go to church then stop at McDonald’s to get a chocolate milkshake. While we drink our milkshakes, we drive around looking at Christmas lights before heading home and reading The Night Before Christmas and leaving milk and cookies for Santa. I cannot wait to include your child in these traditions and start some new ones of our own that will be just as special. I love to decorate for any occasion or holiday. I carve a pumpkin every Halloween while watching the Charlie Brown Halloween special then dress up my dog in his Halloween costume and hand out candy to all the kids in the neighborhood who come trick or treating. Family vacations are something I looked forward to every year as a child and will continue with your child. We would pack up the car and drive to an amusement park, or the beach, or even go on a cruise for a week. These are always memory-packed times, from the adventures, to getting to spend quality time with the family time. I cannot wait to have a child to include in these times and make memories with.

My Relationship with my Parents

My parents and I have a wonderful relationship, a relationship that I dream of giving to a child. My parents are like my best friends; we love to vacation together and spend time together. I talk with my parents every day, sometimes multiple times, and see them at least twice weekly for dinner or just to chat. They live very close to me and will always drop anything to come help me if I call; and I would do the same for them. My parents have been, and still continue to be, excellent role models of how I envision myself being as a parent. They would always put my wants and needs above theirs and made sure whatever dreams or goals I had they were 100% behind me and encouraging me to achieve anything I wanted. They have always been open, and I know I can talk to them about anything from the smallest problem to the biggest disaster and they will have my back, help me work through it, and support me however they can.

What I will Teach your Child

I will teach my children to be strong and independent and that it is okay to have different opinions than others, but we need to respect that everyone can have their own feelings. I will teach them to be able to stand up for what they believe in while being compassionate for others. I will raise a child who is caring, loving and loyal. I will help them to find empathy for others and to help others as much as he or she is able to do. They will know that they can reach for the stars and that I am behind them every step of the way to encourage them to achieve every dream they can imagine. I want to be the parent that they can confide in and consider a friend, but they will know they need to respect and mind. I will strive to develop and grow a relationship that leads us to being friends as they become adults and someone they look forward to sharing all their incredible stories with.

What I will Tell Your Child about You

The simple answer to this is anything and everything they want to know, and that you wish I tell them. I want your child to grow up knowing who you are, how strong and selfless you are, and how much you love him or her. I will help them understand they were not “unwanted” but rather the complete opposite, that you love them so much you made this decision so they could have the best life you could ever imagine. I will make sure they know it is okay to reach out to you, if you desire as well, and that we can all have an open relationship.

What Adoption Means to Me

Adopting a child means the world to me. I know that is maybe a cliché answer, but I have wanted to be a mother since I was young. I focused on school and then medical school and then getting a good paying job so I could become financially stable. That has left me single but still ready to be a mom. I could do IVF and conceive a child and go that path, but that is not what is in my heart. I want to build a tribe for a child and that starts with and includes you as his or her first mother. It means the world to me to be able to become a mom and to start making memories and new traditions. It is something I have dreamt about for so long and I know this is the right path to make all my dreams, your dreams for your child, and most importantly the dreams of that child all come true!

>
<

My Relationship with You

I want whatever kind of relationship that you would be comfortable with. I would love to have an open relationship with texts, pictures, and phone calls exchanged, but I will let you lead in this aspect. I will always think the world of you for what you have given me and will convey your love to your child in every way I can.

>
<

My Promise to You

I promise:

Total and complete honesty;

To build a lifetime relationship with you should you desire;

To provide your child with love not only from me, but my family as well;

That your child will know their story and how much you love them and sacrificed for them;

To teach your child respect and manners and that it’s also okay to be yourself and have a good time;

To give your child a childhood and a lifetime of memories and adventures.

And I also promise that your child will always be my top priority, always.
