Dear Expectant Parent,

I know that considering an adoption plan for your baby is the hardest decision of your life, and I want to tell you that by considering this option you are stronger and more caring than you know. I know this is overwhelming and confusing, and I cannot even imagine what you are going through and feeling, but I do know that as you get to know me you will see that I am here to support you through this, welcome you into my family, and love not only your baby but you, for the rest of my life. Becoming a mother is something that I have always wanted, more than anything, and I hope in learning about me you can see how much love and support I have to give to your child.

I was born in a small town in Ohio and stayed there until I was 8 when the family moved to Arizona. I have two wonderful parents, who are still happily married after 41 years, and live only a few minutes from me. They are over-the-moon excited to be on this journey and to say they spoil their grandchildren is an understatement! I also have a younger sister who lives very close and has a 2-year-old son named Jackson. Being Auntie Stephanie is the best role I have had yet. We all get together at least once a week for home-cooked family dinners and spend hours talking and hanging out. In addition to this immediate family, I have two living grandmothers nearby and an aunt and uncle who I am very close with. They come to visit several times a year. I also have cousins that live in Ohio, are married and have several young children between them. We are all very close, regardless of distance and talk or Facetime frequently. Being such a small family, we have become very close and can depend on each other no matter what!

I have gone through many years of schooling and finished in 2012 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. I see mostly dogs and cats, and recently purchased 50% of the clinic I have been at since graduation. This has been a wonderful occupation and provides everything I could ask for; but I am still missing my one true desire; to be a mother. Animals have always been a huge part of my life: at the early age of 8 I declared I wanted to be a veterinarian and I was able to make that dream a reality. I remember the day in 2nd grade when I made that decision. We had a class pet that was a snake. This snake was sitting in my lap and “relieved himself” all over me!! This was super gross but as an 8-year-old I said, “It happens” and put the snake back, then went to clean up. That love of animals only grew from that day. I currently have a 3-year-old cavalier-bichon mix dog named Rascal; he is the adorable dog in my pictures. He is by far the most loving dog I could ask for; he loves attention and to cuddle and loves to play with my nephew. They will play and chase each other for hours!

My home is in a quiet neighborhood close to parks and one of the top elementary schools in the area. There are many young children in the neighborhood who love to play outside. When the weather is nice, I enjoy being outside, spending time with friends, and doing yard work. I can envision myself helping your child learn to ride a bike, playing with bubbles, or coloring with sidewalk chalk in my house and neighborhood.

My family has had a tradition of going on a family vacation every summer. Some years it’s California, some years it’s back east to visit family, and we have done cruises as family. Regardless of what or where we are, we take that week to reconnect and have fun. Bringing a child into this is something I cannot wait to do! I can imagine taking him or her to Disneyland for the first time and seeing those eyes light up as their favorite Disney characters come to life before them. Watching the excitement of the world opening up for your child, through their eyes, is something I cannot wait to do and get excited thinking about all of the experiences and places we will go.

My favorite holiday, by far, is Christmas and I have several traditions including making Christmas cookies, decorating, driving around looking at all the lights, watching favorite Christmas movies and, of course, waiting for Santa on Christmas Day! Thanksgiving is another big holiday for our family. My extended family will come into town and we have a big Thanksgiving dinner after watching the parade and football all day. Each holiday is special and has meanings and traditions that I cannot wait to share and spend with your child as well as you!

There is a lot for you to consider when thinking about making an adoption plan for your child, and I want you to know I have a heart full of unconditional love to give to a child. Your child would be in a stable and safe home and environment, financially supported regardless of what challenges life throws our way, have access to the best education they desire, and above all will always be my top priority. You also will always be a part of our lives, loved, and cherished. It will be a priority to keep you involved and able to see your child grow as well! Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and get to know me a little better!

With Love,
Stephanie

Q&A

Tell us about your home and neighborhood.

I have a beautiful, fully renovated home that has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, separate office, kitchen that opens into a large family room, a formal dining room, and indoor laundry room. Most of the renovations have been done by myself and my father; doing home projects is a favorite past time we enjoy doing together. My neighborhood is quiet and full of families and other kids. There is a good sense of community and neighbors are always willing to help each other out when needed. All the houses decorate for Christmas and other holidays, so it always looks very festive. I am close to and talk to several of my neighbors and attend their kid’s birthday parties as well as just hang out and barbecue. It is a very safe neighborhood and I always feel safe outside regardless of the time of day.

When you have a 3 days weekend what do you like to do?

For me, 3-day weekends are meant for fun, relaxation, catching up on things, and exploring. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, relaxing at home with my dog, catching up on movies, TV or reading, playing board games, barbecuing, or just being outside. If possible, a quick trip out of town is always a bonus. Having some extra time to just be with people you love is good no matter what you are doing.

Do you have pets? If, so tell us about them.

I have one energetic loving dog named Rascal. I have had him from the time he was 6 weeks old and he is now 3 years old and more spoiled then ever. He loves attention, snuggling, and being around people. He loves his toys and is spoiled with new ones on a regular basis. He loves kids and has a blast with my nephew and friends’ kids. He will play ball with them, let them love all over him, and will play chase with them all day if he could.

What do you hope to teach your child?

I hope to teach my child how to be a good person, that honesty is best, and to always be willing to lend a helping hand. Integrity is important and it's okay to make a mistake as long as you learn from them. I hope to teach and show them what unconditional love is and how to value themselves and what they have to offer. I also look forward to teaching them life skills such as walking, riding a bike, driving a car, and the value of working hard and money.

What will you tell your child about his or her birth mom?

I will always make sure my child knows who his or her birth mother is. I will tell them from day one how much she loved him or her and how she wanted the best life possible for them and had to make the hardest decision of her life. I will make sure they know how much their birth mother loved them and only wanted the best life possible for them. I will tell them about how they came into my life and everything I can about their birth mother. Being open and honest is going to be important so everyone involved can have the best relationship possible.

How will a child enrich your life?

Having a child is something I have dreamed about all of my life. Though I have almost everything I want and need in life, the missing piece is a child. He or she will fill that missing piece and fulfill the desire I have had to have a child for as long as I can remember. A child in my life will bring so much joy, happiness, love, and laughter.

Describe your last vacation and/or day trip.

My last vacation was with my parents; we went to Las Vegas for a few days. This is one of our favorite vacation spots to sneak away to. We enjoy the city and all the things to do and see. We have some favorite restaurants that have become traditions when we go, such as a pizza place and our favorite breakfast place. We go to different shows when we are there, this last time we went to the Tournament of Kings dinner show. We visit most of the major casinos and walk around and look at all the attractions they all have. We even go to Circus Circus and, as adults, walk around and play the carnival games to win some stuffed animals! You are never too big to play these games and I cannot wait to be able to share this experience with my child when he or she is old enough!! One time I even one a giant stuffed Sponge Bob Square Pants that I have kept in hopes I could share it with my child. Our trips here are for spending time together, getting away from the normal routine, and having fun.

Will you be returning to work? If so describe your daycare plans.

I will be returning to work but not right away. I plan to take a couple months off to be home with the baby, bond, and get adjusted and into a routine. After this I will start back part time and my family will step in to watch the baby on days I am working. When I go back to work full time my family will continue to watch the baby a couple days a week and he or she will be in day care the other day. I think it is important for social skills that the baby be around other kids growing up to learn how to share and interact. Being that I am an owner in the business it is easier for me to be able to adjust my schedule to be able to be home when needed and provides me with the flexibility to make it to doctor and other needed appointments.

When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his or her birth mother?

I have thought about the moment when I first get to hold my new baby for the first time, and all the times after, for a long time now. When I think about how I will feel I can only imagine I will be fully content and filled with joy and happiness. I am sure there will be tears of happiness those first few days too. I know as I experience these feelings none of them would be possible without a wonderful and caring birth mother. Every time I hold my baby, I will think about how grateful I am that his or her birth mother chose me and trusts me to care for this baby for the rest of their life. I will remember the sacrifice she made to give her child the best life possible and how she made my dreams come true.
