From Us to You

Hi There!

Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile!  We know this can be a difficult and confusing time for you while you are trying to decide on the best option for you and your baby. We hope you feel supported and loved wherever you are in your journey. We want you to know that we admire and respect you so much for choosing life and for considering adoption!

We both love children and have always wanted a child of our own together but have unfortunately not been able to have one. But we are blessed with a beautiful life and are thankful for the opportunity to grow our family through adoption. And all of our family and friends are rooting for us on this exciting journey!

We wanted to assure you that, should you choose our adoption plan, we would respect any level of openness and contact that you are comfortable with and wish to have with your child. While we may raise your child, he or she will always be a part of you. We understand and respect that. We promise to love, nurture and cherish the precious soul you give us for safe keeping and to provide your child with a safe, happy home and a life with every opportunity imaginable.

No matter what you decide, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby throughout your pregnancy. You are not alone!

About Ghazal

I’m so fortunate to have found Ghazal! My wife is a funny, hardworking, loving, and truly wonderful person who finds joy in the simplest of things and is a great chef to boot! She also has a wonderful imagination and expresses it by coming up with cute names for me and Bernie, our dog. We met online 7 years ago and we’ve been together ever since. We found we had some shared interests, which was nice, but what I most liked about her was that she was open to new ideas and willing to try new things, which meant we were always finding new and enjoyable things to do together. We discovered a shared love of hiking and tennis and traveled the world together, meeting new people and enjoying so many wonderful adventures.  The greatest compliment I can pay her is that she makes me want to be a better person. I know that growing old with her will be a wonderful journey and one I’m very much looking forward to!

About Gautam

Gautam has been my rock since we met. He has always been quick to support me in everything I do. He is a great partner who is always willing to share in everything, whether it be mundane household chores or providing input in decisions, big or small. He loves spending time with our dog, Bernie, and is always looking for opportunities to go for long walks or hikes with him. He is witty and always cracking jokes or making faces, so there is never a dull moment in our house! I know that Gautam will make a great father because I see his beautiful and unique bond with his dad; they share a special relationship and Gautam has often expressed a desire to experience something similar with his own children. He is the smartest and most tolerant person I know and I’m sure that having a family with him will only make our bond grow stronger!

Our Lifestyle

We live a quiet and spiritual lifestyle. You are as likely to find us meditating or reading a book as watching television. We believe more in happiness than in material wealth and possessions. Family and relationships are the most important things to us and we make it a point to keep in touch with our loved ones as much as possible. We try to spend as much time outdoors and with each other as we can, going for jogs, playing tennis and hiking with our dog. We have recently discovered a love of camping and plan on going to as many state and national parks as we can!

Why We Are Choosing to Adopt

We love being around children! We remember the way our parents nurtured us with love and wish to have the chance to raise our children in the same way, to pass on our values and traditions the way our parents passed them to us. We would love to hear the pitter-patter of little feet in our home and know the joy and responsibility of caring for a child. Even though we are unable to have children of our own, adoption has always been something we have aspired to because we know we have been blessed with an amazing life and wish so much to share these blessings with an amazing birth mother and her equally amazing child.

Our Families & Friends

Our parents live in India and we try and visit them at least once a year. We also keep in touch regularly through telephone and video calls. Gautam is an only child who grew up with 3 other cousins in a large, extended family and therefore never lacked for companionship. Two of his cousins have children who are the cutest little chipmunks you can imagine! One of his cousins is a professional dance instructor and he regularly posts funny and endearing videos of his children helping him with his lessons. Ghazal has a younger brother who lives in New Jersey. He and his wife are expecting their first child in January and we can’t wait to welcome the baby into our family!  We also have a tight-knit group of friends spread throughout the country, including here in Texas. Some of our friends have been with us since kindergarten! We’ve celebrated the good times and commiserated the bad together and they’re as close to us as any family members.

Cultural Diversity

We were born and brought up in India, a country which surely must be among the most culturally diverse on the planet. Our friends were from many different backgrounds and religions and we fondly remember celebrating so many different cultural and religious festivals in our childhood! These experiences taught us early on to understand that even though people might look different on the outside, beneath it we are all basically the same.

Our experiences continued when we moved to college towns for our graduate degrees. Our friends were from different ethnicities and it was a lot of fun comparing notes on growing up in so many wonderful countries and communities. Today we are proud to live in our diverse city and are delighted to be continuing the tradition of making friends from the many different communities that call this place home.

Traditions

We love spending time with our extended family, especially during Thanksgiving. We usually meet at Ghazal’s uncle’s place in Kentucky, although there was one particular Thanksgiving at our previous home in Illinois that was very memorable indeed! These occasions are always full of laughter and joy and we wouldn’t give them up for anything! We also make it a point to travel to India at least once a year to meet with our parents and cousins. Our families live in different parts of the country and traveling to meet with them is always so exciting. Of course, the highlight of our trips to India is probably the delicious food we get to eat there!

One tradition in particular is very dear to our hearts. Every year we celebrate the Hindu festival of lights known as “Diwali”. During this time we light oil lamps and give thanks for the blessings we have received. We also have some of our closest friends over for dinner.

Our Dog, Bernie

We have a beagle named Bernie. He’s seven years old, which is mature for a dog, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at him! Bernie likes nothing more than to grab a bite to eat and bask in the sun. He’s happy to play fetch, but only if he’s in the mood and if there are plenty of treats as an enticement.  And in typical beagle fashion he doesn’t exercise excessively, preferring to let us know he’s done by sitting down abruptly in the middle of a game. He also loves to socialize with other dogs at our neighborhood dog park, and has been known to put a smile on the most grizzled dog veteran’s face with his antics there. Bernie adores children and has been known to wait at our neighbor’s fence patiently for their daughter Lucy to come out and play with him.

Home & Neighborhood

Our home is located in a very nice and family-friendly neighborhood in a city. Many of our neighbors have children and they take full advantage of the many pocket parks and play areas that dot the neighborhood. The happy sound of children at play can warm the coldest of hearts! Our home has three levels with ample space to raise children. The kitchen and living areas are on the first floor and three bedrooms are on the second floor. Ghazal is an architect and has already imagined how we would convert one of the bedrooms into a nursery. The third floor is devoted entirely to a game room that has been converted into a media room with a projector and large screen. We also have a small but very cute yard where we frequently play fetch with our dog, Bernie.
