I believe that open adoption is important and that your child needs to know about you and that you made your adoption plan out of love and concern for them. I can’t promise to be a perfect parent because I don’t think that’s possible, but I will do my best. I want your child to feel that they can always talk to me about anything and I will provide them with a wonderful and happy childhood.

From Me to You

Hello, my name is Tammy,

Thank you for considering adoption. I do admire you for caring so much for your child and wanting to give them an amazing life.

I love children and I can’t wait to raise a child of my own. I’ve stopped questioning why I haven’t been able to have a child and have learned to accept that this is God’s plan for me and have chosen the path of adoption. I can’t wait to experience the joys of being a mom. I am financially, emotionally and physically ready to care for a child. It takes a village to raise a child, and I am blessed to have my mom, who can’t wait to be a grandmother to your child, my aunt Louise, and my sister who will be a part of your child’s life, along with cousins who can’t wait to welcome a new baby into our family.

I have fun outings planned to do with your child, like having them involved in different activities, such as sports, dance, or whatever it is they have an interest in doing. Faith is important to me so going to church and learning about Christianity and different bible stories will be a part of your child’s life. My parents emphasized the importance of education and I plan to do the same for your child and will provide for his/her college education.

My hope for you is that you will have peace in your decision and that you will not have sleepless nights worrying about your child because they are loved and cared for.

Why I'm Choosing to Adopt

I am choosing to adopt because I have always wanted to have children. I want to fulfill a lifelong dream. I was unable to have biological children. But, I was always open to adoption if I couldn’t have biological children. Adoption will allow me to have the family I desire; it would be the family I want, just in a different way. Adoption would allow me to raise and nurture a child in a loving home. And it would allow me to raise a child to their full potential.

My Family and Friends

I am the middle child of three sisters and I have a very close relationship with my mother. My mom and dad divorced when I was a child. Although they are divorced my mom and dad are on very good terms. My mother and I share the same sense of humor. She is very light hearted, easy going and friendly. We share the same traits in personality. She is very fun to be around. My dad is very nice, and easy going, with a great sense of humor. They are both adored by family and friends. My sisters and I are also very close. One of my sisters has two young adult sons, my other sister has one young adult son. My sisters live in different cities, but we maintain close contact. I have a very nice and fun aunt who lives close to me. I have relatives in the Midwest, and on both coasts. I have close friends that I have known since junior high school, and I have a few friends from high school, college and work. I value my relationships with my family and friends. They are a huge part of my wellbeing. They are all excited to welcome your baby into our village.

Family Traditions

My family enjoys getting together on holidays. At Thanksgiving we go over to my sister’s house and have a big meal. We talk and laugh and reminisce about old times. My brother-in-law and nephews watch sports. We also get together during Christmas. The whole family goes over to my mom’s house and again we’ll have a big dinner, talk and watch movies together. When my nephews were younger, we would watch them open presents under the tree.

Cultural Diversity

I work at a very culturally diverse job. I work with people of a lot of different races. We all have training on how to relate to people of all races. The community I live in is also very diverse with different cultures. I feel comfortable socializing with people of different races. I think relationships with people who are different from you are special because it means you are able see beyond your differences. I like to see people of different backgrounds interacting no matter the relationship. I think that is very important to be able to socialize with and respect people of various backgrounds.

My Lifestyle

My lifestyle is pretty simple. I work as a flight attendant 4 days out of the week. There is a misconception that I’m gone all of the time, but really, I’m home a lot. Each Flight Attendant’s schedule is personalized to how they want to fly, so my schedule may look completely different than another flight attendant’s schedule. I computer bid my trips each month and I design my schedule according to how I want to fly. I work one-day trips 4 x a week. I leave in the morning and I return in the afternoon. I fly domestic routes. For example, I may travel from Miami and return home the same day. I will sometimes work a 2-day trip in which I will layover in one city. When I’m not working, I’m usually cooking, cleaning, or shopping at Target or the mall. On Saturday, I usually go to my Zumba class. On Sunday I attend church. I also try to find an activity to do on the weekends, whether it’s walking in the park with friends or family, meeting for lunch or dinner or going to the movies.

My Home

I live in a large apartment in a very nice suburban community which is extremely culturally diverse. My neighbors come from all nationalities and it’s very family oriented. There are many grocery stores nearby, and specialty shops like Whole Foods and Trader Joes. It also has theaters, malls, and shopping centers. The local school district is one of the best school systems in Atlanta. There are also many churches nearby of different faiths. A family Christian church is at the entrance of my apartment community. The Town Center is where a lot of families come to walk or play on the lawn, it has nice restaurants, and mini shops. Also, there are many events held there such as food festivals, outdoor plays.

About Me

I am an easy going, very friendly person. I love to laugh and have fun. I love the simple things in life. I like animals and going to the zoo, the beach, nature walks, ice cream, and yogurt spots. I also like to shop and spend time with family and friends. It really doesn’t take much to make me happy. I love my job at the airlines. I love going to church. Faith is very important to me. I love to learn. I love to write. Growing up, I actually enjoyed school. I love traveling and visiting different parts of the world. I really am a big kid. I love simple, clean, fun things to do. I have a friend that jokingly calls me the world’s oldest teenager. (lol)

My Personality

My personality is very easygoing. I love life. I love to laugh and have fun. But I also can be serious when necessary. I have a good number of friends. I have friends from junior high, high school, and college. We keep in touch by telephone if we don’t live in the same town. Occasionally we plan trips together. I get along with pretty much everyone. I believe most people are good natured. I give people the benefit of the doubt. For example, if a person is mean or rude to me, I don’t automatically assume that they are a mean or rude person. I will say to myself, “Maybe they’re just having a bad day or going through something. That very person may give you the shirt off their back.” I try not to be judgmental. I love young and old people, the millennials and the senior citizens. I love to talk to my millennia nephews. I love watching them grow from babies to now young adults. I try to give them helpful advice. I learn from them and I also provide whatever wisdom I can to them. I love to take care of senior citizens when they are on our plane or out in public. At work, I make a point to assist them with their bags, offer them an early beverage. When I see them in public, I may smile at them and open the door for them if I think they need it. I try to let them know they matter. I’m really a big kid. I love parties, picnics, concerts, roller-skating, bowling, camping and dancing, really any kind of clean fun.

What Adoption Means to Me

It means a lot to me to adopt a child. It would be the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. I really can’t wait to be a mother. It would be such a blessing. It means I can finally do the things that I have been longing to do with a child. Like going to fun outings like Disney world, the zoo, kid’s museums, amusement parks, etc. It also means I can find out their gifts and what they would like to do, and cultivate that. Everyone is blessed with a gift. Everyone is great at something.

What I will Tell Your Child about You

I will tell your child that you loved them. You loved them so much that you took the time to find the perfect parent for them. I will tell them that you were protective of them, and that you read through profiles trying to find the right fit for them. I will explain that you were unable to take on the responsibility of a child at that moment. I would say that you loved them enough to place them with a family that would love and take care of them. That’s true love. You did a truly unselfish act. I actually love that. I appreciate that you are concerned enough for your child to do that. I would like to have an ongoing relationship with you if that is something you would be comfortable with.

Education

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and I have a Paralegal Certificate as well. I believe an education is very important to success and I will emphasize this to your child. I believe we live in a very competitive society and an education is vital to success. A Bachelor’s degree is nice to have, but I would also support a technical education or learning a trade. I feel everyone needs a marketable skill to offer an employer. Also, education helps one to think critically. I would hope that he or she would choose some form of higher education after high school.

My Faith

I am a Christian and started attending church at the age of 13. My best friend’s family belonged to a Church of God in Ohio and they had a bus ministry. My friend’s dad was the Bus Captain and my friend was the Bus Stewardess. My friend’s mom was my Sunday School teacher. I learned a lot about Christ when I was young and about the bible. Going to church taught me the great morals that I practice now. I do believe young people should be allowed to be young and have fun as long they are responsible. I also believe that when you’re young you’re going to make more mistakes than you would as an older person. That’s part of being young; you make mistakes and you learn from them. You fall down but the most important part is that you get back up. As long as you don’t continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. I will be there to help your child when they fall down or make mistakes.

What Type of Parent I will Be

I am confident that I will be a good parent. I will be fair and I will listen to your child. I don’t believe that I can be perfect, but I will work hard to be a good parent. I will provide for your child the best I can emotionally, physically and psychologically. I am reading books on parenting to prepare myself for raising an adopted child

>
<

What I will Teach your Child

I will teach manners, etiquette, to be assertive, to not give up easily, and to fulfill their dreams if possible. I will teach them the value of an education and that it’s important to do tasks well, whether it’s homework or housework. I won’t expect perfection though. I will teach them that it’s important to have fun and not take life too seriously. I will also teach them that people don’t always think the same and to respect their differences. There’s a lot to teach, but these are some of the main things I will teach your child.

My Promise to You

My promise to you is to take good care of your child. I promise to love and protect your child and to love them as my own. I promise to allow your child to grow up and establish their own identity regarding what it is they want to do in life, to make them the most important person in my life and to give them a happy home. I promise to make sure that your child is educated, and I promise to take care of their health and well-being.
