people cross your path and change your whole direction. That’s the beauty of
life, and that’s what we hope for on our adoption journey—a journey with
someone who is now a stranger but will change our lives by taking a leap of
faith with us. We’ve written so many different versions of this letter to
someone we don’t yet know—to you. We have so much hope writing this letter. We pray
you will cross our paths and change our lives forever, giving us the greatest
gift we could ever receive—a child to love for the rest of our lives.
don’t know what has led you to consider adoption, what kind of relationship you
would like to have with us, or if you want a relationship with us at all. But
we do know this: we have open hearts, hearts bursting with hope, endless love
to give another child, and above all things, respect and appreciation for you. We
can’t even to begin to fathom the difficult choices you are facing right now,
but we want you to know that we are here for you as you open your heart to us
on this journey.
are Pete and Cindy. We live in Virginia with our sweet daughter and two dogs.
Pete is in the military, and Cindy (after years of teaching) is a stay-at-home
mom while running a charity she founded from home. We met at a party Cindy was
throwing for a friend (now sister-in-law) in Chicago. We instantly fell in love
and became best friends. We have been happily married for 17 years.
love to be surrounded by good people. We often entertain friends, family and
plan fun play dates. Our house is where our friends and neighbors tend to
gather for fun. They are all cheering us on in our choice to adopt and won’t
skip a beat as our support system. We are hardworking as community leaders, but
most importantly, as parents; we do whatever it takes to provide a loving, fun,
experience-rich and safe home. That is why Cindy stopped teaching full time to be
a stay-at-home mom. We are sometimes goofy, well, maybe more than sometimes. We
have a habit of singing popular songs to each other using our own lyrics. Laughter
and zest for life are important to us. Above all, we are great parents. We love
fiercely, and this is our motivation to want more children.
have considered adoption for a long time. We experienced heartbreaking losses
due to miscarriages and finally decided that we have so much love to give and
our love is meant to grow through the gift of adoption. Our daughter has also
been part of this decision; she has prayed nightly for a brother or sister for
years -- literally-- right along with us. There is no greater joy in our lives
than being parents, but we are not done. We have a great desire for more kids
and for our daughter to have siblings. We hope our children will be best
friends like the friendships we have with our own siblings.
want you to know that the health and happiness of your child are important to
us. We will teach the value of working hard, but we have worked hard ourselves
to ensure our children will want for nothing, especially love. We would like to
build a relationship of trust, openness, and one that will help you to know we place
great value on you. We will remain open to all possibilities and honor your
choices when it comes to the type of relationship we have. We do not want to be
intrusive and will respect your privacy, but we want you to know, if you need
us, you have us. We hope you will walk confidently down this path with us and
know we will love and raise your child as our own. We know we will love you no
matter who you are, what brings you to this decision, how you feel about us, or
what the future holds; we will approach this journey with love in our hearts. We
look forward to meeting you and receiving God’s blessing in bringing your child
into our family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for choosing us.
