Dear Expectant Mother:
We admire your strength as
you walk down this path, trying to make the best choice for your baby. You have
a gift that we were not given, and for that we are appreciative of you and your
willingness to consider adoption because without you, we could not grow our
family. We cannot imagine the complexity of this choice you are faced with but
we hope we can help you through the process and provide a loving home to your
baby. Please know that we have been praying, waiting, and preparing for a baby
to love in our family. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little
As teachers, we both love
working with children in all its complexities. Through our jobs, we have
learned that every child needs something different. Adults in children’s lives
must be observant and aware of those needs. We promise that we will be very
aware of your baby’s needs and love them through all the obstacles in their
life. As teachers, we get the blessing
of sharing all vacations with our children.
This allows for plenty of vacation time and family bonding time through
trips, game nights, and adventures.
Sarah has a unique
perspective on adoption; two of her siblings were adopted as infants. In
addition, one of her siblings placed a baby for adoption. Growing up with two adopted siblings, Sarah
has seen some of the blessings and struggles that families who adopt might
face. Sarah’s siblings are excited at the thought of us adopting because they
will be able to relate to the baby and talk to him/her about the complexities
of being adopted. Because Sarah’s brother also placed a baby for adoption many
years ago, we have a small glimpse into the difficult decision you are making.
We still look forward to our picture updates from her family, 12 years later.
We have wanted to expand our
family and experience the joy and excitement of a new child for a while now. Our daughter, Samantha, is currently 5 years
old. She is extremely excited about the possibility of our growing family and
is ready to love our new addition. She is kind and loving and cannot wait to share
that love with a baby. In fact, she has
been working on setting up the nursery herself!
She even laid down in different spots around the room to make sure we
picked the best location for the crib.
Our daily lives include as
much family time as we can get, playing in the playroom with Samantha, walking
to our local park, and playing games like Uno and Sorry. We are excited for
many adventures including trips to Disneyland (we are big fans of Disney),
camping and hiking adventures, as well as lots of outdoor fun. This includes water skiing and other water
sports at our extended family’s cabin in Eastern Washington.
We cannot begin to
understand how difficult of a time this is for you, but we know that we would
have a great responsibility to raise your baby.
Raising a child, in itself, is our most important job. That responsibility is increased by raising a
child that has been placed in our care.
The trust and responsibility that is created from that will not be taken
lightly. It is a commitment that we vow
to make that extends beyond this lifetime that will ensure the success of our
new baby. Our children are the most
important thing in our lives and we will not allow anything to get in the
way. In our home, we believe that we
will loves others, forgives others, and supports others. We are excited to bring a new member home to
our family to help continue that tradition of love, forgiveness, and
