Dear Expectant Mother:
Your willingness to consider open adoption for your unborn child is so brave and admirable. Though we have never met, our hope is for you to get to know us, and to see how much love we have to give your child. We cannot imagine how difficult of a decision this must be, but we want you to know that your selfless decision will never be forgotten. Your child will be provided with a life filled with many activities, opportunities and most of all, love. We hope to instill our love for reading and learning at an early age, giving your child a strong foundation that will lead to many different opportunities in the future.
As time passes, activities and interests will change, but we hope that a strong foundation will allow your child to pursue any and all opportunities that arise. This is not to say that life will be all work and no play. We love to travel and look forward to introducing your child to new and exciting destinations around the world. Some of those travels will take us to visit our families in the Midwest. We both come from families with lots of children, so your child will have no shortage of cousins to play and grow up with. Our families are very accepting of our plan to adopt and they will love your child as they would any other member of the family.
Pets have also been a big part of both of our lives, and we would hope to continue that trend with your child as well. We currently have three pets in our home. Our dog is a Japanese Chin and we also have two cats. All of our pets are great with children and will be great companions for your child. We also live in a multi-cultural neighborhood so he or she will have no shortage of friends to play with.
We cannot wait to start this journey as a new family. It is our hope that you will be a member of our family as well as your child. We would encourage visits so that you can tell your story in your own words, and so that your child can grow up knowing all of the love that surrounds him or her. Thank you for reading our letter and considering us to parent your child.
We look forward to answering any questions that you may have.
Thomas and Erin
