Dear Expectant Mom

Dear Expectant Mother:

Many thanks to you for taking the time to look at our profile.  This must be a very difficult time in your life, but we want to support you in your struggle and decisions you are making.  Words cannot express enough how impressed we are with your strength and courage during this time.  We cannot show you enough appreciation by considering this gift and opportunity to your child and in turn to us.  The hope and dream of a loving, caring, and stable home life.  You will look back and appreciate the gift you gave your child.  Our home could be that gift.

In 2013, around the time we were married, we started trying for a family.  After no success we tried IVF in 2016.  Again with no success, we are now pursuing adoption, which is what we should have done originally.  I (Rebecca) am adopted and therefore I am a big proponent of adoption.  Adoption is a hard decision, but in my mind I feel you are thinking of the child and there is no greater gift you could give.  I am truly grateful to my birthmother and the gift she gave me.  She gave me the opportunity for a better future and life.

Tom and I would love to welcome your baby into our hearts, family and home.  Your child would enhance our lives and our family.   In turn we would hope to enrich your child with a strong caring family, a robust education, high moral values and an appreciation for life.   Your child would bring so much joy to so many people and would touch so many lives.  He or she would be a welcomed addition to both sides of our families and would be so spoiled.

We have already been reading articles on baby development, talking to lots of friends and family for advice, making trips to local farms for peach and cherry picking, visiting the national aquarium and Maryland zoo.  We are very close by to the science center, local museums, mini-golf, parks as well as historical places and landmarks.  These are all a must to peak a child’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.  You can already tell we are so excited and cannot hardly wait for our bundle of joy to arrive so we can share all of these adventures with him or her.

Family dinners at the kitchen table, sports team carpools, helping with homework; these are all things that Tom and I are looking forward to.  We want to be active participants in our child’s life and we cannot wait to get started.  Let us take the journey with you.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this letter and look at our profile.  We hope to help you and make this period in your life a little bit easier.  You are a strong and loving person and we will get through this trying time together.

With love,
Rebecca & Tom

Q & A

Q: When you have a 3-day weekend, what do you like to do?
A: When Tom and I have a three day weekend we like to take a day trip somewhere in Maryland. In the past we have gone to Pasadena to a local dog beach. Bella has a blast there jumping in the Chesapeake Bay after balls and playing with other dogs. She sleeps the whole car ride home. Annapolis is another place we frequent. We walk around the city popping in and out of shops. Seeing historical sites. Then getting lunch somewhere by the water. St. Michaels is another place we have visited for a three day weekend getaway. It is a quaint little beach town. With various shops, boat trips, and museums. We don't have to wait for a three day weekend to do these things, just a little more planning involved when it is not a three day weekend. Lots of fun things to do in Maryland.

Q: Describe your last vacation and/or daytrip.
A: Our last vacation was a Royal Caribbean cruise. We sailed out of Baltimore on a 9 night cruise to Charleston, South Carolina, Port Canaveral, and Miami, Florida, then to Nassau, Bahamas. In Charleston we walked around the city and explored the City Market. In Port Canaveral we spent the day at the beach, where Tom got burnt even after applying sun tan lotion twice. He just burns. In Miami we took a hop-on-hop-off bus tour of the city and had lunch in Little Havana. In the Bahamas we did a snorkel and dolphin trip where we spent the day with the fish and dolphins. On the cruise ship itself we participated in rock climbing, bingo, swimming, game show night, art auctions, belly flop contests and attended rock band concerts, Broadway shows, movie nights, stand-up comedy acts and dance clubs. That was one trip we absolutely loved and will definitely do it again in the future.

Q: Will you be a stay-at-home parent? If so, what are your day-to-day plans?
A: Tom and I will both be returning to work after our bundle of joy arrives. We have already been researching daycare centers and have visited the center we have chosen to go with. We have chosen a center called Goddard. They have lots of different programs and activities for the children. They also give daily report cards on the child's progress with a photo. One of my close friends had her child in a local daycare center and will be switching her child to Goddard for the individualized attention that Goddard provides. We also will have grandparents close by who have volunteered their services. Our jobs also give us flexibility where I have the ability to work from home if the child gets ill and either of us needed to stay home with them. So we are very fortunate in that regard.

Q: Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them.
A: We have three cats and a dog. Our cats are middle aged, we guess their ages to be around ten, we hope they have another ten years left in them. Patches is a calico, Snowball is a black cat and Momo is an orange tabby. Momo loves birds and will sit at the window talking to them. Patches and Snowball are not biological sisters, but you would not know that to look at them. They are almost glued to each other. They love to sunbath and cuddle together. They all enjoy spending time on the screened in porch. Bella our black lab mix we rescued from a shelter close to our house. She is three years old. She loves to go on walks and play with squeaky balls. She goes to local dog festivals, the local Lowes and day trips to Annapolis. When we are away for extended periods Bella goes to doggie daycare to play with her friends to ensure a safe and playful day. Momo and Bella get along great but the other two cats still haven't figured out what a dog is after more than three years.
