Dear Expectant Mother,
Hi, we are Katie and Erick. We want to say we really
appreciate what you are doing, and can’t imagine how hard this is for you. You
are making a difficult decision, but please know that we will do right by you
and give your baby a wonderful and loving home.
Adoption has a special place in our hearts. Each of us
(Katie and Erick) were adopted as infants, and we each grew up with siblings
who were adopted as well. We each have siblings adopted from Korea (that’s one of the things in common that brought us together when we first met)!
There is no difference in our minds between the love a parent has for a
biological child or an adopted child – we both know this from a lifetime of
experience. Your baby will be raised with love and attention, and will be a
cherished part of our family.
We have a 4-year old biological daughter named Raina who is
the joy of our lives. She is funny, just like her dad, and Daddy and daughter
both like being silly together. Katie says it’s like she has to deal with two
kids, ha ha. Raina is active with soccer, martial arts, and swimming lessons,
and she loves playing with other children and giving hugs to anyone she meets. She
is so excited at the thought of having a little brother or sister, and wants to
help out as much as she can. She will be a great big sister!!
A couple years after Raina was born, we tried again for
another child but without any success. Doctor appointments revealed that Katie
had endometriosis with a high risk of developing uterine cancer. The safest
course was for her to have a hysterectomy, which she did. However that meant that
we could no longer have children of our own. We are a family that is filled
with so much love that one child isn’t enough. Your baby will be a long-awaited
and much wanted addition to our family.
We live in a great neighborhood outside of the city; there
are cows and horses nearby. We have a big field on our property for kids to
play in and a tree house as well. Our neighbors are awesome and have lots of
kids of their own. Your baby will grow up in an active household with lots of
things to do, lots of other kids to play with, and good discipline (we use the
“count to three” method, and we never spank or hit). Good education is very important,
and we make sure to teach at an early age, and will look for the best
preschools and schools for your little one. Katie’s parents live about 20
minutes away and help out a lot. They are retired and just love Raina. Right
now she is their only grandchild, so they are full of excitement for another
one just as grandparents always are!
Thank you for making such a beautiful choice for your baby. We
will give your little one a great home, a fun family, and lots of love!!
Katie and Erick (and Raina J)
