Q: Tell us about your home and neighborhood.
A: One of the main reasons we love our home is due to the fact that when you walk in you feel a loving home. It’s never a dull moment in our home. There is usually something silly happening. The neighborhood itself is a good size. There is a park for the kids to play on and sidewalks for children to ride their bikes. We have a basketball hoop out front for the kids to play.
Q: When you have a 3-day weekend, what you like to do?
A: Well we are the type of people that like to be outside doing things, enjoying the beautiful day. There are weekends where we set up the volleyball net out back and have a boys vs girls match just for fun. We also have badminton racks. Robert really likes playing that. We may have a bonfire out back in the evening when the sun starts to go down and roast marshmallows. Autum plays softball so everyone has gloves to play catch. We have gone up to the softball field to play and practice batting with the kids. Adam or I will pitch while someone bats the other person is the catcher and we have one in fielder. To be honest, Adam and I just like being around the kids, being active with them, whether it's playing video games with them or playing kids vs parents card games on a rainy day. When there is a really hot day we will go over to my parent's house, have a cookout and let the kids go swimming. We always seem to find something fun to get into.
Q: Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them.
A: We have three dogs (boxers): Zoey who is 8, Daisy who is 5 and Delilah who just turned 1. They are wonderful family dogs. They are big but really gentle (gentle giants). Zoey and Delilah are my (Traci) buddies; they follow me all over the place. They will lay outside of the kids rooms at the top of the stairs until one of them open there door. Then they start to wag their entire butt; it’s pretty funny. Daisy and Delilah loves toys and Zoey she just loves treats lol. You know they're spoiled when the dogs have a toy box in the living room with a bunch of toys. We also have a chameleon and his name is Noah. He is super cool. He lives in a pretty big cage with a potted plant and branches, zip tied from one side of the cage to the other so he can walk all around. Normally he’s outside until fall when the temp. drops to mid-60’s then we have to move his cage into our room. Autum has a cat named Claire (1-year-old) who loves to play with Delilah. Honestly, I’ve never really been a cat person but I will say Claire is really cute. Autum calls her Claire bear which I think is the cutest thing ever. Claire is mischievous but not mean, very sweetie and adorable. Robert has a ferret named Corey who is also 1 year old. Claire and Corey are B.F.F’s. From time to time Robert will let Corey out to run around his room. Claire and Corey hide from each other then jump out to surprise the other one as if there playing hide and seek.
Q: What do you hope to teach your child(ren)?
A: We hope to teach our children to be honest compassionate people who one day will grow up to be adults. That you can accomplish anything you want in life if you put your mind to it, just never give up. We also want them to know that we are all human, at times we make mistakes. But if and when that happens it’s better to be honest and own up to it. It doesn’t make you a weak person to admit when you are wrong in fact it makes you a strong person.
Q: What will you tell your child about his or her birthmom?
A: When the time is right or when the child has questions we will do what’s best for the child which would be being honest and answer any and all questions. Let the child know that his or her birth mom loves them so much to give them the opportunity at life. We will let him or her know that their birth mom is an extremely strong and brave woman that wanted the absolute best for them. Their birth mom trusted us enough to let us be there love them and raise them as our own child.
Q: Are you active in your church? Tell us about your activities.
A: We are not really active in church. We truly believe you don’t really need to go on only Sunday’s to pray. We pray often just on our own.
Q: How will a child enrich your life?
A: Children in general are a blessing. We feel a child will enrich not just our life but our entire family. Autum, Robert & Tora are already so excited about being an older brother/sister or for Tora having another sibling to teach all the cool stuff she already showed her other siblings. Adam’s parents as well as my parents are so excited about having another grandchild. Our brothers and sisters are so happy about having another niece or nephew. Children just bring so much join to us hearing them giggle for the first time or watching them while they are watching their favorite cartoon. The facial expressions they make the first words your blessed to hear come out of their mouths. The excitement on their faces when they wake up Christmas morning to find presents under the tree and they are dancing all over because the excitement is just too much for them handle. It’s all so precious to us. We remember so many little things about all of our children. We have always wanted to have a big family and we would feel so fortunate to be blessed to adopt a child.
Q: Will you be a stay-at-home parent? If so, what are your day-to-day plans?
A: No we don’t plan on being stay-at-home parents. We do plan on taking off a several weeks when we first get home with the baby. We want to have the quality bonding time with our new little bundle of joy.
Q: Will you be returning to work? If so, describe your day-care plans.
A: This is going to sound a little silly but the running joke is my mom is a baby whisper. As far as I can remember little kids of any age have always been attracted to my mom. I mean were out and kids wave to her or start talking to her I ask do know them she says no but waves and smiles. Besides I have never left any of my children with at a daycare. I trust that my mother will protect them like I would. When I was growing up my mom had a licensed daycare out of our house it was cool I always had someone to play with. So with that being said our daycare plans are for my mother to watch our baby for us during the day. Adam’s work schedule is earlier than mine so here is a scenario of how a day would be. Adam leaves for work at 5 am I get up at 6:00 to start getting ready for the day. I drop Autum and a friend off at school at 7:00 am than I would go by my mom and dad’s house to drop off our baby. Adam is usually home around 3:00 pm so he would pick our baby up from mom and come home. Autum’s out of school at 2:00 pm so she is home by 2:30 pm she likes to walk home with friends. So Autum will be home when Adam arrives home with our precious baby. Adam will have some quality Daddy time before I get home at 5:00 pm.
Q: When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his or her birth mother?
A: We will think of this beautiful woman that is carrying this wonderful baby, and who picked us to raise her child. This courageous women, trusting that we will protect, love and raise this child with all that we have and are. I (Traci) really feel like I can’t say it enough that I’m so thankful for all the twist and turns that have gotten us to this moment when we are able to help this young women just as much as she is helping us. We are forever grateful.
