Dear Expectant Mother:
Please know that our family will always remember your bravery and love! More than anything we want you to feel confident knowing that your baby will receive unconditional love, support and guidance. Your child’s life will be filled with love, laughter, joy, warmth and meaningful opportunities that nurture their natural curiosity and excitement for life.
We are Daniel and Lynne and our love for each other started several years ago when we met at the preschool where we were both working, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. We married in 2014 and immediately started trying to grow our family. After a year of failed fertility treatments, surgeries and heart breaks we realized that Lynne was not capable of bearing children. But, adoption was something we had already considered and even researched before attempting the fertility treatments. Working with young children, we knew many families that had adopted, and we were thankful to have such a blessed opportunity. By late 2015, we adopted our son, Abraham. The process was everything we imagined and more, we were lucky enough to be in the room when he was born. It was a joyous experience and we feel incredibly grateful that we are able to do it again. Our dream is to have two children. Daniel and I both have siblings that we treasure, and Abraham asks for a brother or sister every day.
We own a spacious 5-bedroom/2-bathroom home on 3-acres of beautiful land in Texas. We have vegetable gardens, friendly dogs, a cuddly kitty, 2 dozen chickens, a huge playscape, a front porch with the most amazing sunset views and large trees including oaks, pines and fruit trees. We hope to continue building our small farm and add goats to our farm family in the near future. We are so excited to welcome a child into our loving home to raise in our lively and natural environment!
Daniel is a blacksmith and tool-maker and runs his own business. He built his shop on our property, so he can work from home. In addition to metal work, Daniel does beautiful woodworking. He is also an extremely talented musician and plays the guitar, drums, piano, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, just about anything he picks up. For years, Daniel was a music teacher and he often plays music with Abraham. We cannot wait to grow our family and increase the joyful sounds of drums and little fingers strumming the guitars in our living room.
Lynne is the Director of a play and nature-based preschool. She has a degree in Child Development as well as a Teaching Certificate and a Director credential. Prior to the preschool, Lynne volunteered at a youth shelter that served 12-19 year-olds and worked as a substitute teacher for 5-12 year-olds. Lynne is also an excellent cook and has spent over 15 years studying nutrition. She makes all of our meals from scratch with the vegetables from our gardens and the eggs gathered from our chickens. She believes in a holistic approach to health and has formal education in massage therapy and natural healing.
We love being in nature! We have a small boat, a canoe, two kayaks and we are just a short drive to several rivers and lakes. When we are not spending time in our own gardens, we like to spend time playing in the river or hiking in the greenbelt. We also love to travel, and we are so excited to show our child the world!
Though our parents and siblings live close to us, Daniel has family in New England and Lynne has family in California and Virginia that we see as often as possible. Daniel, who is part Scottish, also has relatives in Scotland that we hope to one day visit. Both of us are very close with our families and have spent lots of time helping to raise our beautiful nieces and nephews. We are blessed with support and our relatives are so excited to help us welcome our new baby to the family.
We hope this letter has painted a clear picture of our lives and home. Thank you for your love and bravery and for the amazing gift you are giving us. We will always remember you.
With Love and Gratitude,
Lynne and Daniel
