Q: Tell us about your home and neighborhood.
A: Our home is a beautiful, new, 2-story home that has 3 large bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a large family room, dining room, kitchen as well as a finished basement that we turned into a movie theater. We love watching movies, so this is a place where we get to watch our favorite movies and hopefully watch some awesome movies with your baby in the near future. Our home overlooks a large back yard and common area where many families gather for various get-togethers. We have a large patio where we enjoy grilling and eating outdoors as a family and entertaining friends. We live in a family-oriented subdivision just minutes away from the serene countryside and city. Our subdivision has amenities such as two community pools, fishing lake, basketball court, playground, Frisbee golf course, and all the security and amenities a family could want. We have fantastic neighbors; to our right is a newly wedded couple with their newborn princess, to our left an elderly widow who babysits her grandkids, and directly across the street a couple who also has adopted family. We are conveniently located within walking distance to one of the highest ranked schools in the state as well as a daycare and early learning center.
Q: When you have a 3-day weekend, what you like to do?
A: We are adventurous. During spring, summer and fall we are on the go a lot, we can be found doing things like hiking in nature or observing a new exhibit at the museum. We enjoy the zoo, parks, science center, movies, botanical gardens, small weekend road trips, as well as bigger getaways to Mexico, Florida or Colorado. We are an active family; we really enjoy time with family and friends. During the winter and rainy seasons, we enjoy our Movie Room and catching up on all the latest movies and shows we missed.
Q: Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them.
A: We currently do not have pets, but rely on Amon’s family's farm for our pet time as they have a large working cattle ranch, full of animals (cows, pigs, horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats). In the future we would love to have a pet to grow with us and your baby. We believe pets teach kids responsibility and how to care for others.
Q: What do you hope to teach your child(ren)?
A: We come from families rich in culture and traditions and full of life and ambitions. Aside from love, kindness, generosity and how to stand tall and proud, we hope to enrich their life by demonstrating the importance of imagination and a life without limitations. It is beyond important that we teach them that hard work and dedication pays off, just as it did for us. We will pass along our families' traditions of celebrating both American and Venezuelan cultures of holiday and birthday celebrations but also we want to make sure we include the traditions that your culture has. We want your child to know their roots and culture and we will celebrate it as well. It is vitally important to us that we always serve as positive role models for your child. We will show them kindness, love, loyalty and strength, not only in our parenting, but in our everyday lives. We want to encourage your child to self-discover who they are and what is important to them, while setting a constant reminder that nothing is impossible in life and there are no limits to what they can achieve if they work hard for it
Q: What will you tell your child about his or her birthmom?
A: We will tell your child that you love them and that you picked us to care for them because you knew we were the ones that would care for them as well as you would if you had been able to do it yourself. We want to be open and honest. We will tell your child that they have a selfless, brave and loving mom who loves them so very much and chose to give them the gift of life and a loving family. We hope to have contact with you along the way, so that we can share with your child how great you are and how this process was the most beautiful process we have ever experienced, where two families share the most beautiful connection.
Q: How will a child enrich your life?
A: Both of us knew even before marriage that the desire to be a father was equally important to both of us, and that it would be the most significant thing we would do in life. We both have so much love to give and are so blessed in our own life as a couple, family and friends, that we can only imagine how life is going to be better with your baby in it. We look forward to having another person to love and share our lives with. We want to share all our blessings and happiness that we have in our lives. We want to share the world and all it has to offer. We look forward to the late-night feedings, the famous terrible two’s and hormonal teens, because those moments will help us grow as a family and bond. Every holiday, celebration, vacation and any other family function we both agree that the only thing missing is that additional member of our family – they will bring such joy not only to our lives but that of our family and friends as well.
Q: Describe your last vacation and/or daytrip.
A: Our last vacation was a destination vacation in beautiful Mexico. We spent 8 days relaxing on the beach, traveling into the city, eating tons of delicious foods, and going on several adventurous excursions. We zip-lined through the jungle where we became one with nature, snorkeled through underground caves and cenotes, we swam with giant sea turtles, we road ATV vehicles through the jungle, and enjoyed the culture and traditions of the Mexican people. We witnessed fire dancers and learned of the ancient tribes that settled Mexico. We also got to witness the release of newly hatched baby sea turtles and that was something that reminded us the beautiful gift that life is, seeing all those little ones walking to their universe of possibilities inside the ocean. Most importantly, vacation is a way of communication outside of our daily routine where we can unwind and enjoy more of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Q: Will you be returning to work? If so, describe your day-care plans.
A: We both are fortunate enough to have careers that allow an extended amount of time at home to bond with our baby. However we both plan to return to work after a few months at home. Javier's mother at this time will be our primary source of childcare while we are at work. We are very excited about this and the fact that our baby will be emerged into a bilingual atmosphere as we agree he or she will be spoken to in both English and Spanish. While we have a great support system, we have already made arrangements to make sure we spend the most time parenting and helping your child grow to be the great human being they were meant to be.
Q: When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his or her birth mother?
A: This is the moment where our biggest dream has come true. We are both holding the baby, looking down at them and smiling as they learn how to work their facial expressions and every time we look at their beautiful face we will remember that brave and loving woman that gave us the most beautiful gift a family could ask for. With every kiss, every smile and every hug we will be thanking our birth mother because she trusted us to be the parents for her baby and knew that we would do an outstanding job at protecting and raising them. All we can think is of a joyful and warm feeling in our hearts. We will have a beautiful connection with the birth mother because we both will share the greatest love for a little one.
