Q: Tell us about your home and neighborhood.
A: Our home is a beautiful, new, 2-story home that has 3 large bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a large family room, dining room, and kitchen as well as a finished basement that we turned into a movie theater. We love watching movies, so this is a place where we get to watch our favorite movies and hopefully watch some awesome movies with your baby in the near future. Our home overlooks a large back yard and common area where many families gather for various get-togethers. We have a large patio where we enjoy grilling and eating outdoors as a family and entertaining friends. We live in a family-oriented subdivision just minutes away from the serene countryside and city. Our subdivision has amenities such as two community pools, fishing lake, basketball court, playground, Frisbee golf course, and all the security and amenities a family could want. We have fantastic neighbors; to our right is a newly wedded couple with their newborn princess, to our left an elderly widow who babysits her grandkids, and directly across the street is a couple who have also experienced the miracle of adoption. We are conveniently located within walking distance to one of the highest ranked schools in the state as well as a daycare and early learning center.
Q: When you have a 3-day weekend, what you like to do?
A: We are adventurous. During spring, summer and fall we are on the go a lot, we can be found doing things like hiking in nature or observing a new exhibit at the museum. We enjoy the zoo, parks, science center, movies, botanical gardens, small weekend road trips, as well as bigger getaways to Mexico, Florida or Colorado. We are an active family; we really enjoy time with family and friends. During the winter and rainy seasons, we enjoy our movie room and catching up on all the latest movies and shows we have missed.
Q: Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them.
A: We currently do not have pets, but rely on Amon’s family's farm for our pet time as they have a large working cattle ranch, full of animals (cows, pigs, horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats). In the future we would love to have a pet to grow with us and your baby. We believe pets teach kids responsibility and how to care for others.
Q: What do you hope to teach your child(ren)?
A: We come from families rich in culture and traditions and full of life and ambitions. We will pass along our families' traditions of celebrating both American and Venezuelan cultures of holiday and birthday celebrations, and we also want to make sure we include the traditions that your culture has. We want your child to know their roots and culture and we will celebrate it as well. It is vitally important to us that we always serve as positive role models for your child. We will show them kindness, love, loyalty and strength, not only in our parenting, but in our everyday lives. We want to encourage your child to self-discover who they are and what is important to them, while setting a constant reminder that nothing is impossible in life and there are no limits to what they can achieve.
Q: What will you tell your child about his or her birthmom?
A: We will tell your child that they have a selfless, brave and loving mom who loves them so very much and chose to give them the gift of life and a loving family. We hope to have contact with you along the way, so that we can share with your child how great you are and how this process was the most beautiful process we have ever experienced, where two families share the most beautiful connection and love a child so much that you are willing to do anything for them.
Q: How will a child enrich your life?
A: Both of us knew even before marriage that the desire to become fathers was equally important to both of us, and that it would be the most significant thing we would do in life. We have so much love to give and are so blessed in our own life as a couple, with family and friends, that we can only imagine how life is going to be better with your baby growing up in our family. We look forward to having another person to love and share our lives with and we want to share with a child the world and all the wonderful things it has to offer. We look forward to the late-night feedings, the famous terrible two’s and hormonal teens, because those moments will help us grow as a family. Every holiday, celebration, vacation and any other family function we both agree that the only thing missing is that additional member of our family – they will bring such joy not only to our lives but that of our family and friends as well.
Q: Describe your last vacation and/or daytrip.
A: Our last vacation was a destination vacation in beautiful Mexico. We spent 8 days relaxing on the beach, traveling into the city, eating tons of delicious foods, and going on several adventurous excursions. We zip-lined through the jungle where we became one with nature, snorkeled through underground caves and cenotes, swam with giant sea turtles, rode ATV's through the jungle, and enjoyed the culture and traditions of the Mexican people. We watched fire dancers and learned of the ancient tribes that settled Mexico. We also got to witness the release of newly hatched baby sea turtles and that was something that reminded us of the beautiful gift that life is, seeing all those little ones walking to their universe of possibilities inside the ocean.
Q: Will you be returning to work? If so, describe your day-care plans.
A: We both are fortunate enough to have careers that allow an extended amount of time at home to bond with our baby. However, we both plan to return to work after a few months at home. Javier's mother will then happily take care of your baby while we are at work. We are very excited about this and the fact that our baby will be immersed in a Grandmother’s love and spoken to in English and Spanish.
Q: When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his or her birth mother?
A: This is the moment when our biggest dream has come true. We are both holding the baby, looking down at them and smiling as they learn how to work their facial expressions, and every time we look at their beautiful face we will remember you and how you gave us the most beautiful gift a family could ask for. With every kiss, every smile and every hug, we will thank you for trusting us to provide a wonderful and happy life for your child. We will always be connected by the love we share for your child.
Q: What faith will you raise your child?
A: We are planning to raise our child as general Baptist. We believe in God and Jesus, and we strongly believe that God has put us on the path of adoption to change a baby's life and fill it with love.
Q: Do you speak a foreign language?
A: Javier is native from Venezuela and it is very important to us to raise the baby as bilingual. Not only it will open many doors and opportunities for them in the future, but we also want them to share our cultures and their own culture and enjoy time with their families and be able to communicate with all of them.
