Q: Tell us about your home and neighborhood.
A: Our home is a single-story, ranch-style home, approximately 1400 sq. ft., with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a full basement that is finished to include a nice playroom for kids as well as a pool table for us. We have almost an acre of land so there is plenty of yard to run and play. We live in the quiet of the country but we’re only about 10-15 minutes from shopping and restaurants.
Q: When you have a 3-day weekend, what you like to do?
A: We live only about 15 minutes from a state park that has lots of places to hike, picnic or sit by a creek and enjoy nature. There is a general store there to get homemade ice cream. We also enjoy staying at home and playing games together and watching movies.
Q: Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them.
A: Yes, we have a 4-year-old boxer mix named Daisy. She is a sweet girl that loves to play and run with us in the yard. She loves Micah and is very good with him.
Q: What do you hope to teach your child(ren)?
A: Most importantly is how much they are loved! Not only by us, our family and their birth parents; but how much God loves them, has provided for them and will never leave them. We will always strive to give them the best education possible and help them reach for their dreams.
Q: What will you tell your child about his or her birth mom?
A: She is our hero, a very strong woman that loves them with all her heart and has put their needs first by providing a loving home for them.
Q: Are you active in your church? Tell us about your activities.
A: We are involved in Sunday school and worship. Melanie sings in the choir and helps teach the 5 to 7-year-old children's class.
Q: How will a child enrich your life?
A: We are excited to adopt again. Micah has brought so much indescribable joy to our lives and we are looking forward to sharing our lives and love with another child. Micah is also anxiously excited to be a big brother. He is looking forward to having a sibling to play with.
Q: Describe your last vacation and/or daytrip.
A: Our summer vacation this year was to Tennessee. We love to go to the mountains where there are cooler temperatures, lots of shopping and games to play. This year we took Brian’s parents with us to have extended family time together and made lots of happy memories.
Q: Will you be a stay-at-home parent? If so, what are your day-to-day plans?
A: No, we will be returning to work.
Q: Will you be returning to work? If so, describe your day-care plans.
A: Yes, we will use the same daycare Micah went to. The daycare staff is the best! They love the children in their care as their own. They follow a curriculum during the “school year” so they start teaching them from the time they are about 12 months on up to Pre-K graduation. Some things Micah learned was how to color, feed himself, when he turned 2 they played a huge part in potty training him. Learning & recognizing numbers, colors, communication & interaction with other children. They not only prepare them for going into kindergarten (BIG school), they also teach them Bible stories and that God is a great big God who loves them! They have a big playground where the kids get to go play daily as weather permits. We had a great experience there and Micah really enjoyed being there. He is loving “Big school” and we believe what he learned at the daycare has tremendously helped him in his transition.
Q: When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his or her birth mother?
A: She is a strong, generous, self-less, loving woman! We are eternally grateful for her willingness to share this most precious gift with our family.
