Dear Expectant Mother,
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and learn
about us and our dream of growing our family through adoption. We know you are
considering a courageous option for your child and we realize how difficult this must be and know
your choice will come from a deep love for your child.
Our names are Mark and Dawn. We were born and raised in the
Midwest and moved to Illinois after college. After meeting through mutual acquaintances
in 2002, we became fast friends. We began dating in 2005 and were married in
2007. The theme of our wedding was Live-Love-Laugh, three things we do every
day! From the beginning, we talked of having a family. Fertility issues
prevented us from having natural children, so we turned to adoption as a means
to realize our dream. In November 2014, our daughter Olivia was born – we were
able to be at the hospital with her birth mom. We brought her home in time for
Christmas, and our lives have been a joy ever since!
We both come from loving families. From the age of three,
Dawn was blessed with two step-sisters who she grew up with. She also witnessed
her mom’s strength as a single mother and considers her to be one of her best
friends. Her family is extremely excited at the thought of welcoming another
little one, especially her mother who is looking for another grandchild to
spoil! We enjoy family get-togethers several times a year with Dawn’s family.
Mark is the youngest in his family, with two older sisters,
one of whom was adopted as an infant. Mark’s parents are both retired and enjoy
spending their time visiting with their six grandchildren. They are looking
forward to having more to welcome into the family.
Our home is in a lovely neighborhood which has many fun
things to do and see nearby. In our spare time, we enjoy spending time together
as a family, visiting other families in our neighborhood with young children
that Olivia has become fast friends with, cooking (especially grilling in the
summertime), and taking walks along the lakefront. There are several parks and
playgrounds in our neighborhood. We enjoy them with Olivia and our dog,
Theodore, and look forward to continuing to do so with another child.
We have great admiration for you and your willingness to
make an adoption plan which might help us continue to grow our family, and give
us the most overwhelming joy. We don’t pretend to understand how difficult your
decision is, but please know that we are sensitive to your feelings. Should you
choose us to be the proud parents of your baby, know that we will always
instill in them the love and selfless sacrifice you made to ensure that they
would be cared for and loved unconditionally.
We wish you the best during this difficult time, and thank
you for taking the time to learn a little bit about us, and for your
consideration of us as adoptive parents. We hope to hear from you!
Mark and Dawn
