Dear Expectant Parent,
Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your precious child. We hope our portfolio will provide insight as to who we are, what keeps us active and happy, and how we want to open our hearts and family to your child.
As you know, photos and words can only convey so much. We would welcome and look forward to the opportunity to meet and learn more about you, as well as answer any questions you may have about us.
We both were brought up in close, tight-knit families where we learned to respect others, that we may need to work hard for what we want in life and to never stop trying. Mark was the youngest in a bigger family of seven children. Sandra had one sister who was three years younger. Our families are very close and get together often, with gatherings that often include our ten nieces and nephews.
We both grew up here in Minnesota. Our house is located in a cul-de-sac near a very popular recreational lake where we enjoy boating on hot summer days, dropping a line to try to catch some fish, or swimming at the beach with friends and their families.
Our weekends are often filled with activities. We love to spend time with family and friends. We both are very active and enjoy being outdoors as much as we can. In addition to boating, we spend time during the summer golfing, camping, playing tennis, or grilling out with friends. In the winter, we love to ski and skate, or even go ice fishing on the local lakes. Sandra is also an active runner and biker, and participates in races throughout the summer. We both enjoy watching movies and spending time together cooking meals. We are also big sports fans, and enjoy cheering on our Vikings and Twins.
No description of our family would be complete without talking about our dog Rockwell, a Great Dane that is a very big teddy bear. He’s truly a gentle giant who loves to lounge around the house and LOVES to be petted as often as possible. We take him for walks often, and he’s a big hit with the kids in the neighborhood. Rockwell is always making us laugh- he is so goofy- yet so fun-loving! He is great with kids and so intrigued by them, and the kids love to feed him his favorite treats (beef sticks and string cheese).
We both have college degrees, and Sandra has worked for over 12 years with the same company, currently as a property manager. Mark has worked at his company for over 17 years, and researches investment managers to recommend for client portfolios. We are both so blessed to be secure in our jobs, and honored to work for such great organizations.
We have been together nine years and married for seven of those. When we first met, we both knew right away we were going to marry each other. We also shared dreams of having a family together, which has been a long road for us. So far, we have been unsuccessful in having children of our own, and decided to adopt. As we learned more about the experience, we’ve grown extremely excited as we’ve heard all the wonderful stories of families that have adopted in the past.
We are greatly in awe of your strength and have the utmost respect for you. In a time of abundant uncertainty, with so many mixed emotions, you are so considerate and compassionate to look past your own needs and wants and to consider this extremely tough decision. Know that your precious child would be so loved with us and we hope to provide him or her with the best life we can offer. Know that we embrace open adoption and that your presence will always be honored and welcomed in our home.
Sincerely and Enthusiastically,
Mark & Sandra
