Dear Expectant Mother,
Thank you for providing us an opportunity to raise your child. We know this is a gut-wrenching decision for you and appreciate that you must have a lot of thoughts and ideas going through your head as to your options. We know adoption is being considered, and now you are trying to weed through a ton of information to find the “best” parents for your unborn child.
We are a set of college-educated adults entering our 40s. We met back in 2007 through an online dating site. Vanessa has a big heart and has been working with kids for over 15 years as part of various jobs. She will be a stay at home mom. Adam is a software developer who has been writing software for over 20 years. One of the few people who decided what he wanted to do in high school and still doing it. Unfortunately we have not been able to have kids on our own. We do spend time with Vanessa’s niece who lives 5 blocks away, watching her grow up for the last 10 years. Adam has 10 nieces and nephews who live with their families in Indiana. We like to play board games and cards. We like to be outside
on the weekends: hiking by the lake with our dogs, going to Rough Rider
baseball games, cooking out on the grill. We love spending time with our 16-year-old niece. My (Vanessa) sister has a newborn baby that is 9-months-old. We love
playing with her and watching her over night. My sister lives four blocks away
so we get to spend lots of quality time with our nieces. We also love spending
quality time with our family and friends.
We have a nice home in Texas with access to all the things kids need. Parks are within walking distance as are the elementary and middle schools. Being in this part of Texas, we have access to many cultural things as well, like summer music festivals, which we attend regularly, and a local arboretum which we also are members of. My (Vanessa) dad was born and
raised Catholic, and he went to Catholic school as a boy. When I was growing
up, my dad, mom, sister, and I went to Holy Cross Catholic Church. We attend a Christian church near our home most weekends and have a healthy respect for God, but recognize not everyone does.
Over the years we have hosted Halloween parties for friends and families, and made it a kid friendly affair. Pumpkin painting, cookie decorating, costumes, and of course watching Linus wait for the great pumpkin to rise out of the pumpkin patch make for a great holiday. Other holidays are really fun as well. Christmas is generally with Adam’s family in Indiana, but we still like to decorate the house, watch holiday specials, and eat sweets.
With Vanessa being a teacher, your child is sure to get all the help they need with school, and being encouraged to follow their interests, whether it be music, sports, or something completely different. A child is the ultimate legacy that lives beyond yourself. Adam loves super heroes especially Batman. We enjoy going to
all the super hero movies. Adam also enjoys going to super hero conventions to
meet some of the actors. He even met Adam West and Burt Ward, Batman and Robin
from the 60s television show.
We respect the difficult decision that you had to make and admire your strength. We would love your precious baby and would be thankful every day of our lives. We have waited a long time for a baby and know that we could provide unconditional love, support, and encouragement to your child. We hope you will consider us as adoptive parents. A baby is a precious gift from God. We can't wait to adopt your baby and our hearts would be filled with so much joy.
