Dear Expectant Mother,
Hi, we are Marc and Karla
and we want to begin by applauding your courage and selflessness to be on this
search. We can’t imagine the journey that brought you to this place but are
inspired that you have chosen to entrust your child to a committed adoptive family.
It gives us deep joy to open our loving home to a child and our five-year-old
son Soren can’t wait to be a big brother! We are committed to providing a
caring, joyful, and supportive home for your child with strong values and room
to grow and play and enjoy life. Most of all, we want you to know your child
will be unconditionally loved.
We met at a Blockbuster in
2005, while both of us were on separate dates. We met again a few months later
and recognized an instant connection. We’ve been married for 10 years now, and
moved to Southern California when Karla accepted a new position. We immediately
felt at home here with the ocean breeze, the fresh air, the sunshine, and our
warm and supportive church community. Since having Soren, it’s only gotten
better–with trips to the zoo to see pandas and elephants, to Sea World with
dolphins and penguins, to riding roller coasters in Toontown at Disneyland, to collecting
sea shells on the beach together. We’re beyond grateful for the life we
have and want to pass on that blessing.
After trying for several
years to add a second child to our little family, including many rounds of
treatment, we decided to enter the adoption process and prepare for the day
when a new baby is graciously placed with us. Karla’s family has many inspiring
adoption stories and Marc’s mother placed a baby into adoption at the age of
16. We both appreciate the courage it takes to make this decision, but also
understand the deep joy of adoptive families.
A glimpse into our family
on a random Saturday would show us clearing out the living room furniture for
dance parties and playing music together, with Marc and Soren on guitars and
Karla on drums, hiking in the mountains in our neighborhood and chowing down on
tacos, chips, and guacamole in our back yard with our large, extended family.
There’s a ton of love in our home, and we are excited to share that love with
Before moving, Marc was a
High School teacher and basketball coach at an inner-city school. When Soren
was born he took a work-from-home position to be more available to raise a
child. For us, it’s extremely important to live out our belief that life is
best lived by helping others and we want to instill that same belief in our
children. We love to travel and also want our children to experience other
places and cultures. Karla’s family lives both in Texas and on a farm on the
East Coast and we go there at least once a year. Marc’s parents live in
Austria, and we’ll no doubt be taking visits there in the coming years.
As a Birth Mother, know
that your courage now will be honored for years and years to come. Whether you
find us a good fit or not, we pray you experience ease, peace, and happiness on
