Dear Expectant Mother,
Hello! We know that we don’t know you yet, but we want you
to know that we love you, we pray for you, and we think about you often. It may
sound crazy, but it is true. We pray that you will feel confident in your
decision and will be filled with the love and support of those around you. We
thank you for taking the time to get to know us better. We are all very excited
to devote love and support to the child who joins our family, and we are in awe
of your amazing strength, love and dedication to your child and their future.
We think our family is pretty great. We both grew up in
large, loving families and know the great blessings of having a tight-knit
family. When we first held our son, Topher, in our arms, we told him we loved
him to heaven and back, and every day we make sure he knows it by playing with
him and showering him with hugs and kisses. We cherish him and look forward to
building the same loving, caring and supportive family environment for our
family that we were blessed with growing up.
We are a very active family, and when we do things, we do
them together. Chris is a High School counselor and Melissa is a High School
Science Teacher. As educators, we have significant amounts of time off of work,
which allows us to do the things that we love together. Though he is less than
two years old, Topher has traveled to multiple National Parks, been to baseball
games, hiked to the tops of mountains, been camping at the beach, gone sledding
in the snow, been within an arm’s reach of bison, been to numerous museums,
zoos and aquariums, and ridden rides at Disneyland and Universal Studios. We
believe the world is our playground and we look forward to all of our
opportunities to explore and enjoy it as a family.
As professional educators, we have developed a love for both
teaching and learning. We feel that our goal as parents is to learn everything
we can and then teach those things that are most important to our children.
Currently Topher is learning shapes and colors from Melissa and sign language
from Chris. However, the most precious knowledge we can give to our children is
the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our faith in God is the source of our morals and
where we learned to love and serve others, and we want to bless our children’s
lives by helping them develop the same values that have guided our lives.
When we adopted our son, we did so in the form of an open
adoption, so we have open communication with Topher’s birth mother. We are in
contact with her regularly and have visited with her on numerous occasions
since Topher’s birth. We cherish Topher’s birth mother and she will always have
a special role in his life. We want you to know that we look forward to having
the child you entrust to us have a special relationship with you as well.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us better. We
think we have a pretty great family and we will do everything we can to make
sure that our children will have rich and fulfilling lives.
Melissa, Chris and Topher
