As adoptive parents we would like to keep a relationship with the birth mother if she is open to it. Currently we communicate with Frances’ birth mom through text messages, pictures, and occasional phone calls. We know this is an incredibly tough decision for you and we cannot even begin to imagine the feelings you are feeling at this moment but know that we will support you and your decisions before and after the baby is born. We only want what’s best for you and your baby. We would love the opportunity to love your baby and both of you becoming part of our family as Frances’ and her birth mother have become.
With love,
Enda and Steve
We want to adopt simply because we want to give Frances a sibling. Steve grew up an only child, Edna grew up with siblings. While our daughter has her cousins, we had always discussed wanting to have a large family like 2-3 kids, and while we can’t have kids ourselves, we don’t want that to stop us. Before we learned we couldn’t have kids we discussed having a family of personally born children and adopted children.
Adopting was and is the best decision we ever made. We knew we would love our child but could never imagine how much she would make our lives better. We can’t wait to see how much more love will come to our family with this adoption.
We are a goofy and fun-loving family. While we work full time, we spend our off time together playing games and laughing. When we have days off together, we spend it doing fun things like going on adventures. Those adventures can sometimes be a trip to a park, or getting ice cream, or seeing a movie. We also love going to the library and crafting events or interactive museums.
Fun facts as a couple:
Edna has always been the grounding point for me and helped me grow. Ever since I’ve known her, she has made me a better person. She is someone who even when things look tough or work is rough will always be there for me to make me feel better. Since becoming a mother, her love and compassion has only grown. She is always helping our daughter with her fashion shows, or doing her hair and nails, or slaying the daddy dragon.
Steven is one of the most fun loving, kind, and funny person I know. I have had the opportunity to see him become a parent and see how much our daughter loves him and he her. If anything, I love him even more because of the person he has become. He is always available to me and our daughter when we need him and always ready for a makeover from our toddler.
Frances is a very energetic, independent, smart, creative toddler. She loves dancing and singing. Her favorite outfits include a skirt or tutu. Besides singing and dancing she loves helping with chores and baking with family.
We have had quite a bit of communication with our daughter’s birth mother. We send texts and the occasional photo upon request. We try to visit when we and her have time that matches since she is a part of our family.
When we aren’t spending time with extended family and friends, we love cooking, baking, and playing games. We often make muffins, breads, and casseroles. Our daughter really loves to help, and she makes the food taste much better. Her favorite part is mixing ingredients together. She also loves when we make cupcakes because she gets a whole cake for herself. When we play games, she always makes them very interesting sometimes inventing new rules like having to sing, or tell a joke.
All of our extended family and friends were super excited when we adopted our daughter and are equally excited when we announced we were in the process to add another child to our family. Our family loves spending time together eating, baking and playing games. Our daughter has declared herself the chief taster when we bake cakes or other pastries. Edna’s mother helps us out by watching our daughter while we work and they are extremely close. Together she learns Spanish, counting, the alphabet, and baking. She loves showing off what she learns to us when we pick her up. When Edna’s siblings are free, they bring our nieces over and the girls play together and love each other.
It is very important to us that any child we adopt learns who they are. We constantly discuss our daughters heritage with her. We thankfully live in an area that is greatly diverse and racially diverse. We also tell her constantly that she is adopted so she understands that and realizes what that means. We also have her learning Spanish which is funny because when she learns new words she teaches her father who doesn’t know Spanish.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. If you choose us, we promise to love your child just as we love our daughter. Nothing in the world would make us happier than adding a new member to our little family, we won’t only welcome your baby but you as well. We want our children to grow up knowing they are loved, we want them to be confident, curious, kind, full of joy, but most of all we want them to be the best version of themselves. We promise to support and encourage them in all their life adventures. Most of all we promise to love them.
