Dear Expectant Mother,
Hello, we are writing to you with hearts full of hope and love. We understand the gravity of the decision you’re facing and respect the courage it takes to consider the best future for your child. We want to share with you why we believe we can provide a loving and nurturing home for your precious baby.
Imagine a home filled with laughter and joy, where the walls are adorned with colorful drawings and family photos. From the moment your child wakes up, they’ll be surrounded by love. Our mornings begin with the smell of pancakes and fresh fruit, and the sound of our favorite songs playing on our record player. We love cooking together and envision your little one sitting at the kitchen counter, helping us mix batter and sneaking a few chocolate chips when they think we’re not looking.
We both have careers that we are passionate about but our greatest passion is building a family. Shane is an architect, who brings that wonderful design sense to make our home cozy and beautiful. Luke is a Creative Marketing Director but spent many years as a teacher. Together, we will use our creativity to create a nurturing and inspiring environment for our family. Our home is already filled with books, and we look forward to helping your child develop a love of reading and learning.
We’re committed to raising your child with the utmost respect for their identity and background. Your child will grow up knowing their story, the strength and love it took for you to make this decision, and how incredibly grateful we are for the opportunity to be their parents.
We understand that this is a difficult choice, and we want you to know that we are here for you. We are ready to answer any questions you may have, to share more about our lives, and to listen to your hopes and dreams for your child. We promise to honor and cherish your trust, providing a life full of love, opportunities, and happiness for your baby.
With deepest respect and love,
Luke and Shane
From the moment we started dating, adopting a child has always been our dream. We fell in love quickly, and over the past 10 years, our bond has only grown stronger. Our love for each other has created a warm, joyful, and loving home.
Bringing a child into our lives is the next step in our journey. It’s how we imagine completing our family. We dream of a home filled with bedtime stories, laughter from family game nights, and endless love and adventure. Our goal is to create a nurturing environment where a child feels safe, cherished, and free to explore their own unique path. Trusting us with this precious gift would complete our family and allow us to share a lifetime of love and support.
By choosing us, you would help us realize a dream we’ve had for years. In return, we promise to provide unwavering love and a home where a child’s happiness and growth are at the heart of everything we do. We will teach them the values of kindness, empathy, and acceptance.
We can’t wait to help a little one explore nature trails, get creative with arts and crafts, and cook together as a family.
Life with us is full of energy and affection, with creativity woven into everything we do. We both have big “art hearts”, so we love spending time on house projects, playing music, and writing. In our home, your baby will be surrounded by love, adventure, and the freedom to be themselves. We can’t wait to nurture a child’s creative spirit and watch their imagination take off.
Beyond our passion for art, we are an active couple who loves the outdoors. We hike, bike, camp, and stay fit at the gym. We’re excited to share our love for nature and fitness, fostering a sense of adventure and well-being. We think kids really benefit from the confidence boost too!
Travel is another passion we plan to share with a future child. We believe in exposing a child to the world’s beauty and diversity, teaching empathy, curiosity, and the joy of discovery along the way.
We aim to create a home where a child feels safe, supported, and celebrated for their unique self. As a gay couple, we’ve learned the importance of belonging and feeling proud of who you are and where you come from.
Luke is one of the most talented people I’ve ever known. From writing and filming to photography, his talents seem limitless. As a husband, he provides me with unconditional love and stability, making me feel safe. He is incredibly supportive and I see it as one of his superpowers.
When I watch him play with our nieces and nephews, his joy and warmth totally shines through. It’s easy to imagine what a great father he’ll be. He’s goofy, laughs hard and always spins us off on exciting new adventures.
Luke is a great leader. He has an incredible knack for motivating me and the people who work for him to do their best work. He’s constantly reading, studying, and developing himself.
Shane is a wonderful, creative husband. Being married to him is one of the greatest joys in my life. He has a sharp sense of humor and always makes me laugh. He’s always so positive and joyful!
One of my favorite things about Shane is his cooking. He makes these incredible meals, often incorporating his Korean and Chinese heritage to make them extra special.
He’s also brilliant. He speaks 3 languages and has a thriving career as an architect.
I think what I love most about Shane is his boldness and bravery. When he sets his mind to something, he goes after it with full commitment and determination. It’s really amazing!
We own a restored Victorian home in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Portland, Oregon. Built in 1890, the house is filled with records and books and the walls are covered with original artwork. Our basement is a great space to play games, do arts and crafts, and watch movies. Despite living in a city, we are very connected to our neighbors. We love our neighbors. They’re diverse and have tons of kids. Every year, we have a holiday block party and we have dinners together often.
For any child, Portland would be a wonderful, culturally rich place to grow up. We’re minutes away from Laurelhurst Park, which has an AWESOME playground, a waterfront boardwalk for swimming and kayaking, a classic movie theater, and many, many ice cream stores. We love the Portland Art Museum and go to watch soccer at Timbers Stadium.
Spring In the spring, we usually escape to Phoenix for a few weeks to connect with the desert landscape. We both work remote so road trips are easy.
Summer We take a trip to Luke’s parents for 4th of July, barbecuing by the lake and lighting fireworks. We’re really looking forward to sharing our fireworks traditions with a kid. Grandpa loves fireworks!
Fall For Halloween, we have a tradition of going to the pumpkin patch in search of the ugliest pumpkin. It’s always a fun adventure, one we think would be fun to share with a kiddo.
Winter Christmas is a whirlwind of traditions. We always get and decorate a tree, exchange tons of gifts with our extended family, and make homemade ravioli, a cherished Italian tradition.
We are very involved with and connected to both sides of our families. Shane’s family lives in San Diego, CA and Luke’s family lives in Seattle, WA, and we travel to see them very often. Our families are incredibly supportive and excited about welcoming a new member. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins are eagerly waiting. For us, family means food. We are connected by the recipes we cook together. Finally, we are the kind of family that celebrates every birthday. Everyone gets their day to feel special. Month after month, there’s always something to celebrate!
As a diverse couple, we have felt the warmth and benefit of being part of a truly modern family. We are Italians, Koreans, Germans, Chinese and Japanese. Some of us are immigrants and others of us have been here for generations. All of us are college-educated. In choosing us, you and your child will join a community that is warm, welcoming, and full of love
In our family, we honor who people are. We actively honor our mixed heritage through cultural traditions, holidays, and family gatherings that reflect our rich backgrounds. If we have the privilege of adopting your child, we are committed to weaving their unique heritage into our family life, too! We’ll create a home where their racial and cu ltural identity is celebrated through diverse books, festivals, and experiences that reflect where they came from. Our goal is to build a nurturing environment where every part of their identity is embraced and celebrated with love and respect.
We know this is a big decision. Where your child grows up shapes who they become and the life they’ll have. At the end of the day, we’re offering them a life full of love and care. We promise to give them a strong sense of belonging and make sure they always feel safe and supported.
We’ll be there to nurture their talents and make sure they have everything they need to grow into the best version of themselves. Every day, we’ll honor your child’s unique identity and background. Our home is filled with kindness, empathy, and acceptance, and we’ll raise your child with these same values. They’ll always know their story, the deep love and strength behind your decision, and how grateful we are to be their parents.
Thank you for considering us. We want this journey to feel comfortable for you, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. We can’t wait to get to know you better and hear more about what the future looks like for you, your child, and all of us together.
