Why We are Choosing to Adopt

Our decision to adopt stems from our heartfelt desire to become parents and experience the profound fulfillment that parenthood brings. We want to provide a loving and stable home for a child who needs it, sharing our lives, passions, and adventures. We have always loved taking care of children and truly believe that being parents is something we were always meant to be. Although we tried to have biological children of our own, unavoidable fertility issues made this impossible. Jason, being adopted himself, has a unique and heartfelt perspective on the journey. He looks forward to being a dad and can’t wait to share in the joy and love that can come from adoption. Together, we are excited to create a nurturing and supportive environment for a child to grow and thrive in.

Lifestyle

Life in our home is a blend of cozy comforts and spontaneous adventures. We live in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, where weekends often mean hiking through lush forests, discovering hidden beaches, or simply chasing the sun with a good cup of coffee in hand. At home, we’re happiest cooking together, hosting game nights that get a little competitive (Jason’s the reigning board game champ… for now), and curling up with our two Siamese cats, Ahsoka and Juniper, who rule the house with charm and mischief. Rainy days are for fireplace chats, movie marathons, and quiet moments with a good book. Our lifestyle is rooted in connection, laughter, and creating a space where people feel safe, loved, and truly themselves. We can’t wait to share this life, and all its joy, with your child.

About Chelsea by Jason

Chelsea is the most loving, caring, selfless individual I know and is also my best friend. We met about 20 years ago. While we both have a love and passion for music, Chelsea can play the piano among several other instruments. I love hearing her play! I will always remember a time when she was showing one of our friends’ kids how to play. There is a beautiful song she learned to play by ear. We were over at a friend’s house for dinner and Chelsea went into the other room and started playing the piano. You could hear it through the whole house, and before long we all gathered in the room to listen, where their little one was already standing next to Chelsea watching her play. It was adorable to see their child watching on with astonishment. When the song was over, Chelsea simply patted the seat and said, “Here, let me show you”. She immediately sat right next to Chelsea and we all just listened as she showed their little one how to play. Her warmth, compassion, and love of teaching will make her a wonderful mom!

About Jason by Chelsea

Jason is my best friend, my steady anchor, and truly one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. We’ve been together for about 20 years, and every day I’m reminded how lucky I am to share life with someone so generous, thoughtful, and quietly hilarious. He has a natural ease with children. Maybe it’s his gentle spirit, maybe it’s his goofy charm, or maybe kids just have a sixth sense for spotting someone safe and loving. One of my favorite moments was at a friend’s gathering when their young son, without a word, walked straight over to Jason and climbed into his lap like it was the most obvious place to be. Jason hadn’t even said hello yet! It’s moments like that, that show me again and again how ready he is to be a dad, and how lucky a child will be to have him. At home, we love spending quality time together! Jason brings joy, creativity, and a deep sense of care into everything he does, and I can’t wait to see him share all of that as a dad!

Our Home

We live in the heart of Southwest Washington, where the scenery is as diverse as our weekend plans. One day we’re up in the mountains playing in the snow, the next we’re soaking up the sun and salty air at the coast, and often we’re hiking through the Columbia River Gorge or stargazing in the Olympic National Forest. This region is more than just beautiful; it’s the backdrop to so many of our favorite memories! Our year is filled with traditions that make each season special. In the fall, we visit local pumpkin patches and sip on hot cider while we check out the local corn maze. Winter means cozy nights by the fire, cutting down a Christmas tree, and hoping for snow. Spring brings fresh hikes and wildflowers in the nearby Columbia River Gorge, and in summer, we love hosting backyard BBQs and catching outdoor movies in the park. We also embrace our inner nerd at local conventions like Summer Con, Horror Con, and Rose City Comic Con. These events are a celebration of creativity, community, and pure fun, whether we’re admiring cosplay, or connecting with local artists!

Our Family

We’re incredibly fortunate to have our parents living just down the street, making family gatherings a regular and joyous part of our lives. We love taking trips to visit our nieces and nephews and enjoy planning special outings with them to local events like Farm Days at Pomeroy Farm, Oregon Zoo, and OMSI – the local science and technology museum. We both come from large families, and despite the busy schedules, we stay closely connected with everyone. Chelsea also has family in Seattle, and on the East Coast, so trips to visit are always exciting and special. Our families provide an amazing support system and share in our excitement every step of the way as we look forward to welcoming a child into our loving, extended family.

The Life We Can’t Wait to Share

We know that welcoming a child into our lives will bring a whole new kind of joy, wonder, and purpose. We’re excited for the little things like bedtime stories, tiny shoes by the door, and the small, joyful moments that happen in the heart of our home, and the big things, like watching a child grow into their own unique person. A child will fill our quiet moments with laughter, bring adventure to our routines, and add deeper meaning to everything we do. We can’t wait to share our love and our traditions!

What We Will Teach Our Children

  • We believe that parenting is about more than just guiding a child, it’s about growing alongside them.
  • We hope to teach our child the values that matter most to us: kindness, curiosity, resilience, and the ability to stay grounded and hopeful even when life feels challenging.
  • We’ll encourage creativity through art, play, and imagination and help spark a love of learning by discovering the outdoors together, making things together, and diving into the big bedtime questions that make childhood magical.

Family Traditions

Family traditions are at the heart of our lives! Each year, we look forward to our camping trip to Crater Lake, where we spend time in nature, hike the trails, and take in the incredible views. We also cherish our annual beach camping trips with family which are always full of laughter and cherished memories made around the campfire.

Another tradition we treasure is gathering for family dinners with Jason’s side of the family a couple of times each month. These evenings are filled with good food, lively games, and the kind of conversations that make us feel connected and grounded.

When the holidays arrive, our excitement grows even more. Christmas Eve is especially meaningful as both sides of the family come together to celebrate! We look forward to enjoying a big meal and soaking in the joy of the season. Watching the nieces and nephews light up with excitement and catching up with everyone makes it one of our favorite nights of the year. Chelsea especially loves showing her care through cooking, and the holidays give her the perfect chance to share that joy. These many traditions bring us so much happiness, and we can’t wait to share them with your child.

Our Pets

Our two Siamese cats, Ahsoka and Juniper, bring so much joy to our home. Ahsoka is our intelligent, playful, and observant girl, always curious, but with a calm, regal vibe. Juniper is our snuggle-bug and energetic couch jumper who lives for brush time and zoomies. They’re sweet, quirky companions, and we know they’ll be gentle and loving with a child, especially one who doesn’t mind sharing story time with a purring friend.

Our Promise to You

We believe parenting is about showing up with love, consistency, and a genuine respect for each child’s individuality. Our hope is to raise a child who feels safe to be themselves and who grows up knowing they are deeply loved. We want our home to be a place filled with support, laughter, and grace.

Honesty and kindness guide us, and we will always make room for big feelings and the experiences that help a child discover who they are. Because we are inspired by creativity and the outdoors, we look forward to sharing cozy story times, exploring museums and music, hiking through the woods, and even building living room forts! We hope to raise your child to feel confident asking questions, trying new things, and following their curiosity wherever it leads.

Above all, we want to offer a life filled with love and stability. We will walk beside your child through every milestone and every challenge, celebrating their growth and the unique person they are becoming.

As you read this, we hope you have felt the care and respect we hold for you and your journey. Your story matters to us, today and always. We promise to raise your child with compassion and honesty, to nurture their dreams, and to speak of you with gratitude so they always know their story began with courage and love. If something in our story resonates with you, we would be honored to hear from you. Whatever relationship feels right to you, we will meet you with openness and deep respect. You are not alone. Your love is powerful, and your child will always know their life began with a choice rooted in love.
