The Adoption Symbol

Those that have been touched by adoption often want to share
and memorialize their journey in a meaningful manner.  Over the years,
many have turned to the adoption symbol to
represent that.  The adoption symbol is a triangle intertwined with a
heart and is a symbol for both domestic and international adoptions.  The
Birth Family, the Adoptive Family and the Adoptee each represent one side of
the triangle and the heart intertwining each side of the triangle represents
the love that is involved in an adoption.  The adoption symbol can be seen
in tattoos,
artwork, jewelry, clothing and many other formats.

While not everyone may have a personal adoption experience,
national adoption awareness is highlighted in the United States during the
month of November, which is known as National
Adoption Month
.  Many adoptive families will celebrate this month and
share their experiences within their communities.  Adoption professionals
throughout the country also make an effort to spread adoption education within
their communities throughout this month.  Every year in honor of this
special month, Adoption Network Law Center offers pro bono adoption
services
to one hopeful Adopting Family.

As November is fast approaching, we hope that everyone who
has been touched by adoption takes a moment to think about how they will be
raising adoption awareness this year, whether it is through the adoption symbol
or through some other way.
