Hello,

We understand the difficult decision you are making and we are in awe at your strength and courage in your commitment to giving your child the best life possible.

Our names are Robert and Heather. We are a caring, dedicated, responsible, and loving couple. After we learned of our infertility, it didn’t take us long to decide that adoption was the avenue that we wanted to pursue in order to have a family. Having a child, no matter where he or she came from, was what we wanted most to complete our family. In 2013, our lives changed forever through the adoption of our son, Grayson. We knew we would love a child, but we never imagined to what degree. We are completely dedicated to giving him a happy, loving, and safe home and he has given us so much happiness and love in return. He has truly been the light of our lives. But there’s something missing…

Grayson absolutely adores other children and we have desperately wanted to grow our family. When we met Grayson’s birthmother, we also met her brother who not only supported her decision of adoption, but also stayed with her every minute in the hospital. After witnessing that special relationship, we knew that’s what we wanted for Grayson…a sibling.

We are so fortunate to have such a great relationship with Grayson’s birth mom. We speak to her on a regular basis and try to visit with her when we can (unfortunately, she lives quite far away). We have talked to Grayson about her and his adoption story since he was born, so it’s a natural part of his life’s story. We all love her dearly and we know that love is also reciprocated on her behalf. He’s actually quite proud that he is adopted and tells his story to anyone who will listen! We celebrate the fact that Grayson is adopted and constantly remind him that while being adopted may make him different, it also makes him that much more special. Remarkably, he understands who he is, where he comes from, and what an amazing gift he is.

Our home is located in a wonderful city which has so many amazing and fun things to do with kids and as a family, as well as one of the best school districts in the state. We love to spend time at parks, museums, sporting events, ride bikes…anything to spend time together. We travel A LOT and always do so as a family. We want our children to see the world and to create lifelong memories!

Robert is a Director of Engineering. He has an extremely high work ethic, has traveled all over the world, and has a lot to share through his experience of other cultures. Golf is his passion and he can’t wait until he can take Grayson and your “little one” out on the course. He also loves to play basketball and feels it is important to be healthy. He has a good relationship with his parents and has one brother who is his best friend. Robert is a great dad because he is doting, even-tempered and very thoughtful of others. He adores his little nephew and wants so much to raise more children.

Heather has a master’s degree in education and is fluent in Spanish. She taught English as a Second Language for fourteen years, however she is no longer teaching in order to be a stay-at-home mom. Her passion in life is being around children and making a difference in their lives. She is extremely creative: she spends her free time knitting, paper-crafting, and sewing. She also loves also having craft time and building Legos with Grayson. Heather is an only child and is very close to her family. She has been blessed twice by adoption: not only with the adoption of Grayson, but also by her adoptive father as well. Heather’s biological mother married her stepfather when she was three and he legally adopted her shortly after. She has always wanted to adopt and give children the amazing childhood and life that her father gave to her.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and consider us for this precious gift. If selected, we can promise that your child will be loved, cared for, and raised like no other. We will forever admire you, and be thankful to you for giving us this gift.

Truly,
Robert and Heather

Q&A

Tell us about your home and neighborhood.

We have recently moved into a home that was built in 1928 and we are anxious to uncover its history! Our finished basement is complete with a family room, a play area with many toys and books, and a designated craft room. We spend many hours down there reading, crafting, and building with Legos at the Lego table. The main floor offers a gourmet kitchen overlooking the living and dining rooms where we’ve already had many family get-togethers. Grayson loves his new Star Wars themed room complete with an indoor teepee for “camping”! We are excited about tucking in a baby in the newly-prepared nursery. We have a guest room for our many friends and family who visit often. Our weekends have been busy redesigning this home with our future children in mind: family-centered, safe, and kid-friendly. Our house is within walking distance to a wonderful little downtown area full of shops, restaurants, a huge library, and many parks (we even have one across the street)! We can also walk to the commuter train and be in the largest city in the state within 20 minutes. The neighborhood hosts block parties and holiday get-togethers so everyone is friends with everyone. We have amazing neighbors and this town has been voted the friendliest city to live and in the top 10 livable cities for kids. There are many festivals, parades, family activities and classes within minutes of our home, as well as one of the best school districts in the state (the elementary, middle, and high schools are all within walking distance as well). We also have swing set and playhouse in our backyard and it has quickly become Grayson’s favorite place to be. We are looking forward to spending time with our children while they play and ride bikes with the other neighborhood kids. We want our home to be noisy and filled with all the sounds of children!
