From Us to You

Hi! We hope that we can learn more about each other, and be here to support your choice for you and your baby. As you consider your options, we consider you, strong, courageous, and selfless. We are happy to talk with you about any questions you might have to get to know us better. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you embark on this journey.

We are simple, down-to-earth people. Our main goal in life is to be happy and do nice things for others. Life is full of surprises, with ups and downs. When we fail, we don’t think that defines us. We believe each day is a gift, a new chance.

We live in the country, in a beautiful town in New Hampshire, not far from Boston. It is a GREAT place to raise a child and the people are so friendly, warm, and giving. It’s very safe. The libraries, schools, and teachers are so nice. We are close to horse farms, lakes, waterfalls, the ocean, mountains, great colleges, and health care. There is always something going on (local festivals, sports, talks, concerts). The air is clear, every season it is beautiful right outside our door.

We love to eat. Cooking and baking are our favorite hobbies (bread, pies, Italian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Japanese). Your baby will eat well, and have fun learning to cook. Our neighbors like living next to us, because we are always experimenting with new recipes, so we are always giving away something tasty.

We met by chance – we think it was destiny because we are so alike. We have been together since 2011 and married in 2014. We are happy, optimistic people. We are spiritual, and both love learning, nature, and being playful.

We tried to have a baby. It wasn’t meant to be. We are excited to adopt and promise that we will make your baby the center of our lives!

As a volunteer, Andy helps parents and teenagers learn how to get into college. We will help your child get an open-minded education. We’ll encourage him or her to try many hobbies, have many passions, and fulfill their dreams. We’ll help them be thick-skinned and learn how to deal with adversity – hopefully with humor and grace.

We have family and friends from all races, religions, and walks of life, who will help us give your child different perspectives and life lessons. We want your child to be open-minded, respectful, and loving of others.

Thank you for considering us, and for taking this courageous step. If it feels right, let’s take the next step and get to know each other even more. We are grateful for you bringing your baby into the world, and reading our letter. May you find peace in your journey.

Love,

Andy and Mayumi

Our Lifestyle

We like history, photography, and making videos, and try to exercise a little daily. Hiking is one of our favorite ways to get exercise because we get to explore the natural beauty in our area. Mayumi plays the flute and drums, loves gardening and seasonal displays. Our Halloween display is like a small carnival! We love to travel and take the opportunity to learn how other people live in the different states and countries that we visit.

Andy works from home when he is not traveling for business. Mayumi does volunteer work, including tutoring her niece in Japan via Facetime video calls. Education is very important to us. We try to learn something new each day. Our daily goal as a family is to fill our home with love and laughter every day.

Why We Are Choosing to Adopt

We love children and want to make a child the center of our lives. We have tried, but we cannot have children on our own. We can’t help but think that this was all meant to be. We are here, with warm open arms, ready to love and care for your child. Thank you for being so courageous.

About Andy

When Andy and I were dating, I always looked forward to visiting him at home. I knew it meant I would feel warm and safe, relaxed and cozy, and ready to enjoy tasty home cooking! Andy always takes care of people with warmth. He makes sure our lifestyle is comfortable and his positive thinking and attitude always give me energy. I never thought that a man could be so sweet and cute! He always sings songs about me and makes me smile every time I see him. This didn’t change once we were married and he continues to charm me every day. Under his warm wings, I am sure a child joining us in our home will have the same special feeling. I have never met a man that is so good with kids. He always bends down to talk to them at their level. Andy loves to teach. Somehow he makes interactions with kids a fun, learning event. When kids come over our house, Andy gives them chef hats with their name on it, and they cook or bake together. Andy has a way to teach kids reading and math that makes it into a game. Kids leave our house and ask their parents “When are we coming back to visit?”

About Mayumi

Mayumi radiates love. She is always smiling and has a wonderful calmness about her. She is very gentle. It is amazing to see – children and animals that are normally shy, are drawn to Mayumi and are happier being near her. Mayumi has a way of looking at life that brings out the best in me and others. She inspires me to celebrate every day, and do acts of kindness. Having lived in Japan and Russia, she teaches me the best of different cultures and broadens my horizons. Mayumi has a healing touch, partly because she is trained as a masseuse. Our family and friends love to be with Mayumi and line up for massages. I believe she is a little magical, and I think she will pass this on to your child. Mayumi wants more than anything to finally have a child to love and care for. She will be a wonderful mother.

Our Home and Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is fun. Our own Halloween display draws people from all over because we have funny displays that kids can play with. Every Christmas, our Fire Department sends a Santa Claus riding on a fire truck. You always see someone walking a dog or pushing a baby carriage in our neighborhood. It is a safe place to walk, play, and ride bikes since it is on a private road with a 15 mph speed limit. The houses in our neighborhood are set up in a large circle with the center holding 2 large fields, perfect for kids and adults to play games. Our neighborhood has a lot of trees and grass. It feels just like walking through a park. We have a pretty gazebo, and people come to take wedding and prom pictures. We are next to ponds and streams, and 2 minutes from horse farms. We are 15 minutes from lakes and 35 minutes from the ocean. There are three different town libraries all within 10 minutes of our home. Each one has activities every week for children and adults. Our home is a happy place. We like to cook and bake, especially with the children in our family. The more singing and musical instruments, the better. We have a very large family room, big enough for running around and throwing balls. We have a very large backyard, great for eating outside and watching birds.

Our Family

We have family and dear friends who will be excited to be part of your baby’s life. Andy has 2 older sisters (a respiratory therapist and a special ed. teacher) – good resources to have! We celebrate all holidays with Andy’s extended family, often with 5 nieces and nephews too.

Mayumi’s parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews all live in Japan. Her father is retired and exercises his green thumb in the garden. Mayumi’s mother is an artist, and your child will like the portraits that Grandma will draw for him/her every birthday (Andy loves his!). Mayumi has a younger sister and younger brother. We think this is why she feels like “a big sister” who wants to take care of others. Her sister is married with teenage twins who Mayumi has a close relationship with. Mayumi tutors her niece almost daily in Algebra and Japanese.. Andy tutors her a few times a week in English. Mayumi’s brother is married with two boys. Mayumi is very close to her family and we see them via Facetime calls weekly.

In our immediate neighborhood, we have various close friends that are so wonderful we call some Aunt and Uncle. Your baby will be the focus of our life. Mayumi will be a stay-home Mom and Andy works from home. Your baby will have lots of love and attention.

Cultural Diversity

We come from different countries and backgrounds. One of the reasons we got married is that we expand each other’s horizons. Our differences help us learn from each other and grow.

Mayumi grew up in Japan, went to college in Moscow, and moved to the United States 16 years ago. She speaks English, Russian, and Japanese. Andy’s grandparents came to America from Lithuania, Poland, and Russia. They fled oppression and poverty. In addition to English, Andy speaks a little Spanish and Hebrew. We both understand what it is like to be immigrants and how important it is to be welcoming to new immigrants. We love meeting and learning from people of different religions, backgrounds, and races. We believe all people are children of God and deserve love and respect.

Whatever your race or religion, you are beautiful in our eyes and we will cherish your baby and their background.

Our Traditions

We have a few types of traditions. We celebrate each season, holiday, and birthday with fun decorations in the house! Every month our house has a different look that brings back memories and smiles. Your child will love helping us make the decorations better and more memorable every year.

Each season we have outdoor traditions (walking in the snow, growing flowers, apple and pumpkin picking, going to the ocean). We also celebrate with indoor traditions – making and eating food of the season.

We are Jewish and every Friday night we light candles. We think about our past week with gratitude and look forward to the coming week. We will often include our family on video calls so we can celebrate together. We pray daily. It is our quiet time to reflect and be grateful for what we have. We meditate about our lives, our challenges, and what is most important “in the big picture”. We pray for the health and happiness of our family, friends, and our country.

What We Will Share with Your Child

We will consider our child’s Birth Mother to be a hero. A hero because she chose this courageous decision. A hero because her love changed our lives, and brought us together with a child. We will tell your child that he or she is a precious gift from heaven and from you. We will share news about your child with you.

Our Promise to You

Thank you so much for considering us. We promise that we will make your baby the center of our lives. We will do everything in our power to raise a child that we will all be proud of. We will love and protect them. We will teach your child to respect all people. We will personally teach your child to read and write, and experiment with many different hobbies. We won’t force our dreams on them and will instead support them in finding what makes them happy. We will raise your child in a healthy, optimistic way, and help them follow their dreams. We will make sure they have educational, athletic, musical, and cultural opportunities. If they want to go to college, they will have the financial means to study at whichever college they choose.

We will honor and respect your child’s background and race. We want your child to understand and value their heritage and will lovingly include people in our lives with similar backgrounds so they can identify with and learn from them. Your child will meet children and adults of all heritages and learn cultural diversity.
