From Us to You

Dear Expectant mother,

How and where do we begin to say thank you, for this precious gift of life that might one day bless our home? Our journey might begin because of the important choice that you are making. We cannot truly understand all that you are experiencing in your life, but please know that the decision you make will be honored to the best of our ability. Your beautiful child, that we are eager to welcome into our home, will know unconditional love, an abundance of happiness and security.

We want to assure you that this is the most perfect time in our lives to welcome a baby. We are dedicated and have the time and means to make your child the true focus of our lives.

If we are so blessed to adopt your baby, life in our home will be one of joy, stability, and encouragement. Of course, there will be challenges along the way, but we have a circle of family and friends who are here to help with love and support along the way. We both come from LARGE extended families that can’t wait to be a part of your baby’s life.

We have longed for a child for many, many years. Being a complete family is what we have dreamed of. We feel such excitement knowing that this process, truly, could be the beginning of our own family.

Words cannot express the emotion we feel as we anticipate a baby coming into our lives. We are just so eager to be parents. We will put our heart and soul into being the best parents that we can be. The opportunities that we can offer are endless. Our prayer is that your child will know no boundaries in life, and have the freedom and choices to be who they are destined to be.

We have heart-felt trust and faith that the child that comes into our lives will be the one meant for us. And I hope to one day hold this sweet child and say to them what my mom has always said to me “I’m glad I got you as my child.”

We cannot wait to meet you!

About Jake

Jake, along with his 4 sisters was raised in Florida by loving, Christian parents. Shortly after graduating high school, Jake chose the Marine Corps as his career path. Jake is an easygoing, funny, and dependable person who loves the outdoors. He is an avid fisherman and hunter. He loves nothing more than to be out in nature, hiking and exploring. One of his other favorite hobbies is restoring his 1968 Pontiac. Jake is a total animal lover, and he has a loyal hound dog named Jethro that follows him everywhere. Jake is very caring and compassionate. These are the traits that drew me to him when we dated. He is great with kids and is going to be an exceptional father.

About Lauren

Lauren was raised in a blended family and has multiple siblings. She attended private Catholic school until high school and then graduated from a public school. She has worked in the insurance industry for the last 12 years. She is a hard worker and really organized. Bringing these skills to our marriage has made my life so much easier. She has a great sense of humor that keeps a smile on my face. Lauren is also very maternal and nurturing. She is my light. Her positivity and drive are infectious. She makes me a stronger and better person every day. Some of Lauren’s favorite hobbies are cooking and baking. She is always experimenting in the kitchen. She likes to sew, scrapbook, paint, and really do anything crafty! She also loves the outdoors and reading.

Our Home

We live in a 4-bedroom, 2-bath home. The house is located on a quiet street with many young children. Having so many children around us makes the holidays really fun! We chose our home city, because of the better school systems. A great school system is important to us when raising children, and we incorporated that into our decision of where to live. We love to travel and our typical vacations include the outdoors. We enjoy being on the water or in the mountains. We look forward to the next adventure, going to new places and trying new things with a family of three.

Our Lifestyle

Our Family (including Jacob & Lauren, and our 2 dogs Jethro & Stanley) currently live in Southern California. Jacob is gunnery sergeant in the Marine Corps, and will be retiring soon. Lauren is blessed to have a flexible work-at-home schedule, as an Insurance Agent. Our weekends are for adventure and fun! We are both from Florida, so while being stationed on the West Coast, in California, we want to see and do as much as possible. We try to choose places we haven’t been to and explore them on our days off. San Diego has been one of our favorite destinations. We can’t wait to have a little one to share these adventures with. When we are not out and about, Jacob is usually in the garage tinkering. He works on his ‘68 Pontiac, he does woodworking, and even blacksmiths. Lauren is inside baking or sewing. For example, during the Corona Virus, we dedicated our weekends to sewing masks to donate.

Our Sweet Pups

We have to admit that we are “dog crazy.” We have two dogs, Jethro and Stanley. Jethro is a Treeing Walker Coon Hound, who is 4 years old and full of energy. Stanley is an 11 year old Shih-tzu. We adopted him last year from the local shelter and he has stolen our hearts. Jethro and Stanley go to a local ranch to “doggie daycare” during the day. They get to play with other dogs and even swim in the pool. They are living their best lives!!

Our Families and Friends

We are blessed to have so many family and friends supporting us through this journey. Supporting us on Jake’s side of the family is his mom and dad, sisters, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Lauren’s family includes her parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers, sister-in-law and step parents. Lauren’s mom is one of 7 siblings, so the aunts, uncles, and cousins are numerous. Our families are very close-knit. We love a reason to get together, so family barbeques, camping trips, birthdays, baby showers, and weddings are all a blast. Once retired, we are hoping to return to Florida, to be close to our family again.

We also value our close friendships, especially with Adrianna and Jacob, who are a military family as well. We met them about 12 years ago while stationed in California previously. We have become very close over the years and vacation together often. We moved into the same neighborhood, to be closer. We are godparents to their oldest son, Sylar. We love spending time with him and watching him grow and learn. Military families are always so supportive to each other. While away from home, they are our family.

About Us

We were introduced by Jake’s sister, Renee shortly after Jake joined the Marine Corps, and were inseparable from that point on. I made him laugh, and he made me blush; it was a love story. We were married a year later. Shortly after we were married, Jake was sent on the first of his 5 deployments. Welcome to military life. ☺ Being a military couple had it challenges. We had to communicate long distance and working together while being apart became essential. We learned to rely on each other, and the ability to overcome challenges is what makes us a great couple. These struggles made our marriage and commitment to each other so much stronger. We have now been married 14 years, and Jake is planning his retirement from the military. As we move into this next chapter of our lives, we look back at all of our duty stations and travels, with memories of such fun and joy. We are now, more than ever, ready to raise a family.

We are currently stationed in Southern California. Jake should be retiring within the next year and a half, and I am proud to say, he will be retiring with 20 years of service. He is such a hard worker. I admire and respect him for making and providing a stable life for us.

Why We are Choosing to Adopt

We have both always known that we are destined to be parents and can’t imagine our lives without children. We have tried on our own for a number of years to have a family, with no success. We are fortunate now to have this opportunity of adoption because of you and your sacrifice. We are excited and ready for this journey. We know there will be bumps along the way, but in the end, we will have our family that we have dreamed of.

Family Traditions

Being in the military, we are away from our families a lot. Jake and I both enjoy Thanksgiving as our favorite holiday. This is where our childhood traditions come from. We decorate our entire home in everything fall. We have pumpkins everywhere, just like my mother decorates. On Thanksgiving, we make my grandmothers cornbread stuffing and her sweet potato crunch. We also make Jacob’s mother’s recipes for homemade Blueberry Fluffs and sweet potato pie. The smells alone take us back to our childhood. We have made this our tradition wherever we have been stationed over the past 15 years, to make us feel like we were home. This tradition is a great reminder of how thankful we are for our families.

On a Typical 3-Day Weekend

An ideal 3-day weekend for us involves friends and family. We love to invite people over to grill out, make bonfires and roast marshmallows, and even bake. All of our friends and family have children so we always incorporate kid activities at the get-togethers. Since we both come from large families, we enjoy a full house! It makes us feel at home.

Having an extra day in the weekend, we take advantage of local activities, too. We visit the Farmers Market or take the dogs to the nearby State Park. We are fortunate to have apple picking nearby as well!
