From Us to You

Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We cannot imagine the emotion and energy it takes to work toward this decision. Entrusting your child to be raised by someone else requires incredible bravery, strength, and most of all love for your child. We feel extremely honored to be considered as adoptive parents.

When we think of being parents, we look forward to being able to share the joys of our everyday lives. We cannot wait to celebrate simple pleasures like taking your child on our favorite hikes with our dogs Cali and Gus, exploring new cities, sharing our favorite childhood books at bedtime such as “Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See,” “The Wonky Donkey,” and “Everybody Poops,” to name a few. We want to play in the yard during family BBQ’s and swim at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We cannot wait to watch your child grow and all their “firsts.” We look forward to them being a part of our family vacations to the beach and the lake and family traditions, such as carving pumpkins, making Christmas cookies, and Easter egg hunts with their cousins. We look forward to giving your baby a home where they can explore as many opportunities as possible, supported by love, security, and a safe environment. We will expose your child to our hobbies and interests, as well. Pat is an excellent gardener and has an abundance of produce and is excited to teach them about the different vegetables and fruit trees growing in our backyard. He is also a very handy woodworker and loves building things. Christy loves photography and take tons of pictures of family and friends and cannot wait to document your child’s life. She loves decorating and organizing our home, and swimming in the summer. We’re so excited to teach your child to swim. We also want him or her to be able to develop and explore their own interests and we will help them do this. Education is very important to us. We live in a great school district and will encourage either college or a trade school. We spend a lot of time with our niece and nephews and can’t wait for your child to play with all their cousins whose ages range from 1-3 years old.

We are incredibly excited to be parents and have so much love to give. Due to infertility issues we are not able to conceive a child. However, we understand that family does not mean blood relation. We are open to as much communication as you would like as your child grows up. We will make sure they know how much you love them and we will celebrate their adoption throughout their life, so they know how special they are. We hope that we will bring you peace and comfort by being the most loving and nurturing parents to your sweet bundle of joy.

About Patrick

Patrick is caring, honest and friendly. He is easy-going and gets along with everyone. Some of his closest friends he has known since grade school. Patrick loves to garden and has quite the green thumb. We have so much produce we cannot give it away fast enough, so we make homemade salsa and jelly with the extra produce. He is also very handy and is an excellent woodworker. He has built some of our furniture and refinished other pieces for the nursery. He enjoys spending time with our niece and nephews, taking them on tractor rides, playing hide and go seek, and showing them all the different fruit and vegetables in the garden. It is no wonder why he is their favorite uncle.

About Christy

I have known and have been friends with Christy since high school. We had a big group of friends that intermingled together throughout our teen years. After high school we both went different directions for most of our twenties. We met again in February 2011 at a mutual event with friends. Both of us being single again, we hit it off that night and began dating. By 2014 we were married and buying a house together. Christy is a beautiful person inside and out. That is the reason that I’m so attracted to her. She is the most considerate, kind, caring, and compassionate person I know. She would do anything to help someone. While most of Christy friends spent their early twenties parting, going to spring break, and doing all the fun stuff 20-year-olds do, Christy was spending her time with her best friend Shelley. Shelley had a rare terminal cancer that could not be treated. Christy spent her early twenties with Shelley and her family until the very end. That is the kind of person Christy is. Christy has a TRUE caring and nurturing personality. Every time our niece and nephew come over for the weekend, I am still amazed how well she handles every situation that those two throw at us. It’s almost like she has been trained for professional childcare. Christy is also fun, outgoing and always down for an adventure. She loves hanging out with friends, and family and enjoying life. Christy will be an amazing parent.

Our Sweet Pups

We have two dogs, Gus and Cali. Gus is a playful, 3-year-old Pomeranian and Cali is a laid-back 5-year-old Beagle/Hound mix that we rescued a few years ago. We love traveling with our dogs. In our free time we love taking the dogs on hikes and walks at the park near our house. Both dogs love swimming in the creek to cool off on our walks. Both Gus and Cali are so sweet with our niece and nephews. Gus follows them around and plays keep away with them using his Frisbee. Cali is so calm and just goes with the flow.

Our Families

We were both raised with loving, fun, and caring families. We are very close with our families and spend a lot of time together. Patrick’s parents are so excited to be grandparents for the first time and Christy’s parents cannot wait to meet their new grandbaby. Together we have three nephews (ages 27, 3 and 1 years old), one niece (2 years old) and four godchildren between 3 and 8 years old. The majority of our family and friends live within 30 minutes of us; grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins which means that all holidays and birthdays we spend with family and friends. Patrick’s family has a country property with a cabin and fishing lake that we enjoy. We watch our niece and nephews often and love taking them to the local farm, for a pumpkin patch and apple picking activity. The kids love the tractor rides, petting zoo, and fun farm.

Our Home

Our home is on a quiet, dead-end street in a great school district. We bought it five years ago with plenty of room in which to grow our family. Our entire backyard is fenced, and we have a little under an acre of land, so there is plenty of room to run around and play safely. We have a large garden, and several fruit trees. Patrick is very handy and cannot wait to build a tree house in our backyard for the kids to play in like he had as a child growing up. Our adult, married nephew lives four houses down the street and has a 1-year old son. They would also be a huge support as we have been to them.

Our Lifestyle

We have an active lifestyle and spend lots of time with our family and friends. During the weekdays we love to go to the gym and take our dogs on a walk at the park near our house. On the weekends we enjoy many activities, such as taking our two dogs on a hike, spending time with family and friends, working on home improvement projects around the house, and relaxing at home. We love traveling and go to the beach at least once a year with our entire family. Often, we have our niece and nephews over for sleepovers and enjoy playing in our backyard, baking, doing arts/crafts and taking them to do kid-friendly activities around town.

Our Vacations

We love to travel with our family and friends. We frequently go to Destin, Florida and Branson, Missouri. We also enjoy Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri and going to Mexico. Patrick has his pilot’s license and he has flown us to New Orleans, Lake of the Ozarks, Branson, and Destin. We are excited to have a child to play with their cousins and our friends’ kids on our annual trips.

Why We are Choosing to Adopt

We have always wanted to be parents. Due to infertility issues we are not able to conceive a child naturally. Instead of continuing with infertility treatments, we decided that adoption was the right path for us to expand our family. Family requires love, not DNA, and we have so much love to give.

Cultural Diversity

Our families are open to different cultures and lifestyles. Christy’s stepbrother and stepsister are half Filipino. At Christmas their Filipino aunt makes lumpia, a traditional Filipino food. Patrick’s cousin adopted two black children many years ago and his aunt married her partner five years ago when they legally became able. In our close circle of friends, we have a few bi-racial couples with children under the age of 4 years old. We are open to any child regardless of nationality or race.

Family Traditions

We loved our family traditions growing up and have cultivated them into our own, new traditions. Patrick’s family would go to their family farm when he was a kid and cut down their own Christmas tree. As a couple, we have continued this tradition. Christy has baked Christmas cookies with her mom every year and continues that tradition now. We plan to continue these things with your child. We have also created new traditions as a couple. We both love Halloween and have a Halloween party every year and dress up. Our dogs wear costumes, too. For Thanksgiving and Christmas, we love getting together with our extended family. We split both holidays between two different days so we can spend more time with each side of our family.

Our Promise to You

We have always dreamed about being parents together and giving a child a loving home. We will unconditionally love, support and encourage your child. We will provide a safe, affectionate, and happy home filled with love, laughter, and adventure. We will make sure your child knows where they came from and how special they are. We will celebrate their adoption throughout their life and will share pictures and updates with you to help you feel at ease with your decision.
