From Us to You

Our names are Kelsi and Soma, thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter. We admire you for your strength, courage and selflessness while you are considering the options for yourself and your child. Always know that we will teach your baby about your courage and strength. While we can’t possibly understand what you are going through, we want to assure you that your child will be loved unconditionally.

Adoption has always been in our hearts and minds as the way we would grow a family together. We have always wanted to become parents and adoption has been a part of our life plan from the start. We are at a point in our life where we are financially, emotionally, and physically ready to expand our family with the addition of a precious child. Your child will have a strong support system throughout their life consisting of immediate and extended family. They will be surrounded by a network of loving and accepting great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

We can’t wait to include another family member in all of our traditions: yearly beach vacations with extended family; weekly family game nights; Thanksgiving with every food you could possibly imagine; Christmas with presents galore and being spoiled by grandparents; fun family Halloween costumes and every birthday will be a party with our friends and family. We are excited to continue our traditions and create new traditions as a family with the addition of a daughter or son.

Your child will be raised to be caring, brave, confident, tolerant, and understand that they have purpose and meaning. They will grow up with structure, but with no shortage of fun and unconditional love. We promise to promote your child’s growth through every stage of life, assisting them to learn about themselves and their own individuality. We will accept your child for who they are and who they become. We will provide a home with constant open communication, where every family member is able to talk and listen. Your child’s voice will always be heard. We will emphasize the importance of education and provide every opportunity to try sports and hobbies to discover their interests. We will celebrate every milestone and accomplishment from their first steps to their first job and even every win on a board game during family game nights.

As lovers of travel, your child will explore many states and countries every year. From mountains to oceans, they will discover the world while learning the important lessons of diversity. They will be raised to understand and accept diverse cultures, ethnicities and beliefs. Your child will be exposed to a multi-lingual home from the moment they arrive into this world, speaking Spanish, Chinese, Filipino and English.

Your child will always know that you love them. We will share your child’s story with them and they will always know how brave, strong and selfless you are. We would love to share photos and updates of your child’s growth and accomplishments with you if that is something you are comfortable with and desire.

We are so humbled and grateful that you would consider us. We promise to always be loving, compassionate and accepting parents and that your child will be given every opportunity to reach their full potential. We have an abundance of love to give in our home.

Why We're Choosing to Adopt

We are pursuing adoption at this time because parenthood through adoption has been in our hearts since the beginning and is what we feel we have been called to do. We will provide your child with a large network of caring family members, unconditional love and support, and structure. We recognize that there are many children born each day who require a safe, supportive and loving home in order to thrive emotionally, mentally and physically from birth to adulthood. It is our dream to raise children who we have nurtured and supported to be their best selves. Our children will grow up to be adults who are caring, brave, tolerant, and understand that they have purpose and meaning.

About Kelsi, From Soma

Kelsi is confident, independent, selfless, and driven. She is my perfect life partner and best friend. We hold each other accountable and she continually encourages us to grow as individuals and grow together in our marriage. She will be an incredible mother because she will place your child’s needs above her own and will be a strong support system. Kelsi loves and appreciates people for who they are. She will create a positive environment for your child to learn and discover how they will be their best self. Of the most importance to Kelsi is leading a purpose driven life as she seeks to provide a well-rounded example to our future child. Kelsi has always wanted to be a parent and is ready to love with all her heart.

About Soma, from Kelsi

I never believed in love at first sight, until the day that I met Soma. The first day that I met her, it felt like I was meeting up with my best friend whom I had known for years. Soma is a driven person, who puts her whole heart and soul into the things that she passionate about. She is selfless, caring, hardworking and loving. All of the characteristics that make her the most wonderful wife, are the same characteristics that will make her the best mother a child could have. Soma always strives to be her best self and is a life-long learner. I admire that she dedicates her free time to her education, taking college courses to finish her Masters’ degree while remaining fluent in Spanish, Chinese and Filipino. Soma looks forward to the day she can pass on all of her knowledge to our children.

Our Home

We live in a comfortable and quiet family neighborhood. Our community is family-centric and the neighborhood children and parents know each other very well. Our neighbors are teachers and military service members. We live in a comfortable, spacious two-story home with plenty of space for our family to grow. We have already prepared a nursery with everything from bilingual children’s books to a crib, changing table, rocker and swing. We have a spacious backyard for children and pets to play, learn and run. During the summer, you’ll find us in the backyard inviting friends over for BBQs and setting up a net to practice our golf game. We live just a short drive from parks, schools, bike trails, and restaurants.

Our Sweet Pups

Charleston is a fun, loving and loyal dog. He loves to play fetch with the neighborhood kids and is great with small children. Zuri is the princess of the household. If she isn’t curled up under all the blankets she can find to stay warm in the winter, you’ll find her outside sunbathing in the summer. We love taking our dogs on all of our weekend adventures for them to explore beaches, mountains and everything in between. Our three chickens enjoy pecking away at strawberries, sunflower seeds and herbs in their spacious coop and white picket fence while providing our family with fresh eggs every day.

Our Family and Friends

We have a large circle of friends and family across the country and across the world. Kelsi’s family lives in Kentucky. We were recently blessed with a nephew in 2020; he brightens our day every time we see him. We enjoy reading books to him, playing in the sand and ocean and watching him develop socially, physically and mentally. Kelsi’s parents love being grandparents and can’t wait to have another grandbaby to spoil and love. Soma’s family lives in Oregon, Nevada and the Philippines. Her family can’t wait for a new addition to grow the family and create new memories. We love to visit our families for holidays or long weekends and always have our spare bedroom ready for family to visit us. We have loyal friends in many states and countries that we have met throughout our time serving in the Army. We are thankful to be surrounded by friends at work and in our neighborhood. Our family and friends are fully supportive and excited about our adoption plans!

Our Lifestyle

We both work very hard during the week in our careers as officers in the U.S Army. Kelsi is a Blackhawk Helicopter Pilot and Soma is a Company Commander of a 75 person unit, in a leadership and management role. Although we are dedicated to our careers, family always comes first in our daily lives. A typical day for us starts with working out in the morning, eating breakfast and getting ready for the day. We then go to work, but when we come home we always eat dinner as a family and spend quality time together. Kelsi enjoys cooking and prepares a home cooked meal each night for our family to enjoy together. Soma enjoys reading and taking our dogs on long walks around the neighborhood. We live a balanced lifestyle of going on adventures and enjoying leisure activities together. Physical, mental, and emotional health is a priority of ours. We love to workout in our garage gym together; go on vacations to take a break from work; and dedicate time each day to talk to each other. We look forward to incorporating your child in our morning runs in a jogging stroller, helping them with homework before dinner and attending all of their sports practices, games and music lessons. We will always be your child’s biggest cheerleader. We truly enjoy the little things in life and don’t take anything for granted.

Family Traditions

We have a passion for travel and adventure, and each year we go on a vacation to the beach with our extended family. It is so fun to see how much our family grows each year! We always go to Kentucky for Thanksgiving to enjoy a large, home-cooked meal and spend quality time with family. For Halloween we enjoy making homemade family themed costumes to wear while we hand out candy to the neighborhood children. Around Christmas time we have an ugly Christmas sweater themed potluck at our home for all of our Military friends, who may not have family nearby or aren’t able to make it home for the holidays. We love the traditions that we have with our family and friends and can’t wait to include your child in them.

Our Vacations

We started traveling together within a few months of meeting one another. Our first vacation together was to the Dominican Republic in the fall of 2017. Since then, we have traveled the world together to the Netherlands, England, France, Puerto Rico, Haiti, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Our favorite activities to do on vacations are snuba, take historic monument tours, going on diving boats, trying local cuisine and spending time on the beach. We also love to travel within the United States to visit family and friends. We are so excited to have the opportunity to explore the world with your child.

Education

Education is a daily priority and of utmost importance in our household. Learning will start early, from the day your child is born. We will read to your child every day in English, Spanish, Tagalog and Chinese. We will enroll your child into a Montessori pre-school to interact with other children, learn to share and understand independence. When your child is of school age, we will strive to find the best private schooling opportunities in our area. Your child will have a college fund started from the day they are born, to ensure they are given the option to attend college at no cost.
