From Us to You

Hi! We are Gabe and Roe. We want to thank you for taking the time to read our letter and look at our profile. We can only imagine how emotional it must be to look through profiles to find the right family for your child. We want you to know how lucky we feel to have you consider us.

We always knew that we wanted to be parents. After struggling to have a biological child, we began looking into adoption in 2018. During that time, we decided to move from the city to the country to provide a safe and active lifestyle.

We want to give you a good look into what life would be like for your baby in our home. In addition to having us, your child will be surrounded by loving family members. Roe’s mom and sister will spoil him or her. Your child will have two dogs to play with, love, and protect him or her. Your child will be loved and supported throughout their life. We will help your child pursue their dreams and will always be there to encourage them.

There is so much that we would like to introduce your child to. Our home is Roe’s grandparents’ summer home and there are so many fond memories here. It is surrounded by gorgeous trails that pass majestic views of waterfalls and lakes. We will do swim lessons in the very same lake that Roe herself learned to swim in. Exploring your child’s interests is something we look forward to, anything from dance recitals to tournaments. Vacationing for new experiences and learning about the world will be wonderful to share with your little one. We’ll be right behind them to help and encourage them as they pursue their dreams.

Your story is also their story. It is part of who your child is and will be. We are especially excited to share your story with your child. We want your child to know how brave and amazing you are. We will make sure your child knows how much you love him or her. We would love to stay in contact with you via letters and share photos as your child grows.

We know that this may be one of the most difficult decisions you will have to make. We are sending you and your child positive vibes and prayers. We would be honored to meet you and go on this journey with you.

Why We are Choosing to Adopt

We always knew that we wanted to have children. After encountering many issues conceiving and staying pregnant when trying to have our biological child, it was time for us to reflect. Through much soul-searching, discussion, and research we found that adoption is the path we are destined to take. Our only wish is to give a child a loving home filled with opportunities. In order to prepare to adopt, we relocated from a single-bedroom apartment in the city to a house on a large section of land in the country. Our country home is in a safe community full of fun things to do and surrounded by nature’s beauty.

About Roe, by Gabe

Roe is a genuinely kind person, who time and again puts the ones she cares about ahead of herself. Her concern for the happiness and well-being of those she holds dear is ceaseless. She is also highly intelligent and uses her knowledge and compassion to teach the next generations. Never one to speak ill of anyone or any situation, she will always find the positive where many would only take away the negative. She enjoys being lost in a great book just as much as being out on a hiking trail. As a life-long learner, she also has fun picking up new skills. For instance, she has gone from flatpack furniture being a challenge to being able to rebuild patio furniture and create new pieces. I am thrilled that Roe will finally be sharing the same selfless, nurturing love that she has shown countless children with a child of our own. She will be the mom that your child and your child’s friends will want to go to for direction, understanding, and comfort.

About Gabe, by Roe

Gabe has a great sense of humor. He is the most kind, caring, supportive, dependable, and determined person I have ever met. Gabe and I first met while working at an electronics store. While we were working together, Gabe cracked a joke and I was immediately attracted to him because of his great sense of humor. We started dating shortly after Gabe fixed my mom’s computer. When we started dating, I was still in college. Gabe always made sure that I put my education first and supported my decision to begin working on my Master’s degree right after finishing my Bachelor’s degree. Gabe continued to support me when I graduated and could not find a permanent teaching position because there was a hiring freeze. He worked harder than ever and got a promotion at work. Gabe has always been a rock for me through all of the sad times, the hard times, and the good times. He is always there with a shoulder to cry on and a joke to make me laugh. Gabe is going to be the most amazing father. I am so excited for him to be the dad that you can go to for anything, but also be slightly embarrassed by when your friends come to the house because of his corny dad jokes.

Lifestyle

Ours is a very family-oriented lifestyle. We are fortunate enough to live within a five-minute drive from Roe’s family. Hardly a day passes that we don’t get together with Roe’s mom, sister, brother-in-law, and aunt. Our dogs are always excited for “puppy cousin” time with Roe’s sister’s dog Mimi. Family night is every Friday for dinner and a seasonal activity. In the summertime, lawn games like corn hole and Can Jam are great for working up an appetite. Trips to the local ice cream shop for sweet treats and live music after dinner are a great way to end the night. We can also be found having fun on the lake, walking many of the local trails, and biking in our neighborhood. Fall is pumpkin picking season and fun times visiting the farm. In the winter, we take our dogs to play in the snow and warm ourselves with hot cocoa or tea. We also move to indoor gaming which includes board games, table top games, video games, and VR. Once the weather warms again in the spring, we start outdoors all over again.

Our Families

Our family is an important part of our lives, and us in theirs. It makes us so happy to know that they are all incredibly supportive of us adopting. They are our main support system.  We are also close with Roe’s cousin, his wife, and their two children. We gladly spend as much time as we can with them, and will babysit whenever the chance arises. They love coming up to the country to play outside with us and enjoy the star-filled nights.  The “baby cousins” are so excited to meet and play with your child.  Our niece, nephew, and Gabe’s sister are a big part of our lives as well. We regularly get together for holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions. It has been amazing to watch our niece grow into a wonderful young woman in college that is studying to be a nurse. Our nephew is getting ready to start his high school adventure.  Having friends that feel like family is also a blessing. Even more fantastic is how much they have all been supporting us in our decision to adopt. Many of them have children, ages ranging from infants all the way up to college years. Whenever possible, we meet up to have fun times.

Our Dogs, Gizmo & Zelda

Our two dogs are an important part of our family. They are both seven years old and born five days apart from one another. Although they come from different litters, they have been together since being six weeks old and are truly brother and sister. Zelda (black) is our hyper one that loves to play with children and run around with them. She will take all of her toys out of the holder, and happily play fetch with anyone willing to throw. Gizmo (white) is her compliment. He loves to have a seat near a window to watch outside, or a place next to someone on the couch for cuddles. Both enjoy being outside for walks and taking vacations with the family. They love spending time with the “puppy” cousin Mimi, a 2.5-pound Yorkie.

Home & Neighborhood

Our home was originally the summer house that Roe’s grandparents had built for the family.  It was a way for them to get their kids, and eventually grandkids, out of the city to reconnect with nature.  When they passed, they left the house to us in hopes that we would continue to have future generations who would make more cherished memories here. As a child, Roe spent every summer here with her grandmother. The former kids’ room where the grandchildren would stay will be your child’s future nursery. Now that we call this home year-round, we continue to work diligently to make the home everything it can be. In the spirit of our “weekend-warrior” DIY nature, we spent several weekends replacing the carpeting throughout the entire house with vinyl plank floors. For projects beyond our ability, we hired the right teams to get the upgrade done. Everything from a brand-new bathroom, replacing the roof, and adding new HVAC.

We are located in a quiet, private community in rural Pennsylvania. Our home is a stone’s throw away from the baseball field since Roe’s grandfather loved baseball so, and wanted a house as close to it as possible. In addition to the ballfield, our community has several lakes, beaches, playgrounds, and basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts to keep families and kids busy. Summer is an exciting season in our area with many of our neighbor’s extended families coming out to spend their vacations. We can’t wait for your child to grow up surrounded by nature, in a home that is filled with generations’ worth of love and memories.

Racial & Cultural Diversity

Respecting and honoring your child’s heritage is unquestionable. We look forward to incorporating their traditions and celebrating their culture. As parents, one of our responsibilities is to help our child develop their cultural identity. We are committed to learning about their heritage and evolving our family to incorporate it all. We will be working with adoption support groups to further learn the best ways to introduce and incorporate your child’s heritage into all of our lives.

Family Traditions

Many of our traditions stem from being heavily family-oriented. Roe’s grandfather loved family get-togethers, especially around a feast from the barbeque. In keeping with legacy, we fire up the grill as often as possible during the summer. Every Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day are the barbeque main events. Since his passing, we have begun sharing memories of him while we enjoy cheeseburgers, hotdogs, and macaroni and cheese.

The holidays outside of summer are also filled with fun and laughter. Every Halloween, our dogs are dressed up along with the rest of us as we hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.

Thanksgiving is worthy of its own cooking special, with a feast of traditional American and Italian dishes that create Second Thanksgiving driven by all the leftovers. Some of our traditional American dishes include turkey, fried chicken cutlets, mashed potatoes, sweet potato mash covered in marshmallows, and pies for dessert. Our Italian dishes usually include hot and cold antipasto (olives, meats, cheeses, rice balls, potato croquettes) and lasagna.

Both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are celebrations. On Christmas Eve, all of Roe’s family will be together, feast, and exchange gifts. Then on Christmas Day, we go to Gabe’s sister to meet with his family to also feast and exchange gifts. New Years’ will have us all together, wearing pajamas, baking stuffed bread, and watching the countdown to the new year. We are so excited to share our traditions with your child as well as incorporate your traditions and start new traditions of our own.

Perhaps our most fun tradition is family birthdays! No matter how old someone is turning, we always have a family birthday celebration in a restaurant or at someone’s house. We usually try to pick a fun theme for the party which determines the decorations and sometimes the outfits. Some of our themes have been space theme, mermaid theme, 90s theme, emoji themed, and “archer warrior princess” which a younger cousin requested.
