We cannot wait to welcome your child into our family, our home, our community, and our life. The desire to grow our family through adoption has been a consistent dream of ours since dating.
We can only empathize with you on the process you have gone through to make this decision; we assure you that your child will be loved beyond measure, get to explore different hobbies and interests, will have a caring home and family, and will always have a listening ear or hug when needed.
If you are open to it, we would love to share pictures of your child as they grow, explore, and learn. We intend to share your story as you share it with us, with your permission, and will be open and honest about their adoption from the start.
We treasure our community connections and actively seek activities where our whole family can participate together. Our home is always open to friends and family, and we find deep joy in creating spaces filled with laughter, warmth, and lasting memories.
Adoption has been close to our hearts since we first started dating—Matt was adopted at birth, and Danielle’s mother was adopted through foster care. We’ve always envisioned our home filled with the sounds of children playing and laughing together. While we’re blessed with wonderful neighborhood friends who bring joy and laughter to our house, we deeply understand the unique and irreplaceable bond that exists between siblings.
Matt and his older brother Dennis were both adopted at birth into a wonderfully loving family that provided all the emotional and physical support they needed to flourish. Matt has always felt deeply blessed by his adoption experience and the nurturing environment his parents created. Though he has never had contact with his birth mother, he remains profoundly grateful for her courageous decision, which shaped him into the person he is today.
We are confident in our ability to provide your child with unwavering love and care throughout their entire life. As we progress through the adoption process, our excitement continues to grow, and we eagerly anticipate the moment we’ll meet your baby.
We like to spend time at church, hanging out, playing games, and playing hide-and-seek as a family. One of our favorite family activities to do at home is to play pretend where we are all one of Adaleigh’s stuffed animals and we ‘go to the park’ or ‘on an adventure’. On the weekends you can often find us out and about visiting family and friends, exploring a new play-place or activity, or playing at one of many favorite parks.
Overall we enjoy having lots of interactive playtime with Adaleigh and her friends. One of the best parts of doing this, is getting to see the young mind develop and getting to “see” them thinking as their young minds explore this wonderful world we have.
During the summer, we escape to our cottage in mid-Michigan, where we love spending time at the lake and breathing in the fresh air. We’re passionate about water activities including wakeboarding, tubing, jet skiing, and swimming. Our favorite tradition is taking evening boat rides together, followed by bonfires and family games on the shore.
At home, we each spend time exploring our interests and will ensure your child gets to do the same.
Matt is as patient as a person can be and has a truly caring heart. Matt is a social butterfly and can speak to anyone as though they have been friends forever.
Matt’s favorite thing to do in his free time is to play basketball; he plays in a rec league every Monday night and comes home excited to discuss how his game went, what he wants to work on, and how he’s going to prep for his next game. During his quiet time in the mornings Matt likes to meditate, read his bible, and make Adaleigh’s lunches and snacks for the day.
If anyone brings up History they will soon find Matt joining in their conversation; he loves learning about and discussing all things History. He offers help when he sees other struggling and works hard for our family. He is a great father and keeps his relationship with his family strong even though they are not near us, geographically.
Danielle is a wonderful woman who is always thinking about her family and those around her. She has a heart of gold and does a great job of showing up for us by doing all the little things that keep our family moving. You can tell that spending time with her family is her absolute favorite thing to do.
Danielle has several favorite things to do; spending time at our cottage and being in the water are just two of them. Anyone that knows her, knows she loves the slower pace and simple activities such as bonfires and barbecues that are staples at our cottage during the summers.
Danielle also has a passion for DIY projects and is constantly envisioning ways to enhance our home, making it more cozy and beautiful. She loves sharing her creative ideas with me and takes great satisfaction in working together to bring those visions to life, transforming our house into an even more welcoming space.
One thing that is very special is how Danielle interacts with not just Adaleigh but all children. She volunteers at our church nursery on a regular basis and really enjoys getting to interact with the children. She is extremely good at being with kids; she gets on their level and interacts with them in a way that children really love.
Danielle is a special woman who makes everyone around her better. Her smile and passion for life make everyone around her happy and full of joy.
Adaleigh said that she “can’t wait to love her new brother or sister and do everything with them.”
She looks forward to playing in the basement, building forts and playing house, having tea parties, playing hide-and-seek, playing duck, duck, goose, and going to the park. When they are young she is excited to help pick out their clothes and calm them down when they’re upset.
Adaleigh enjoys a wide range of activities, from reading books to playing soccer. She thoroughly enjoys riding her scooter and Elsa bike, and loves creating with her Minnie Mouse baking play-doh set. When asked about her favorite colors, she replies “all the colors of the rainbow” along with light blue. Her go-to favorite foods are spaghetti and cucumbers.
We live in a close-knit neighborhood where we’ve built wonderful relationships with families up and down our street. The kids roam from one house to another throughout the day, creating a true sense of community. Our neighborhood pool is a popular summer gathering spot, and we love experiencing Michigan’s four distinct seasons together.
The heart of our home centers around our open kitchen and living room, though we also spend countless hours playing in our basement with friends and family. Matt built a swing set in our backyard, and we set up small pools during the summer months for playing. Our favorite outdoor activities include tag, hide-and-seek, and watching Adaleigh zoom around on her scooter or bike. When winter arrives, we embrace the snow by building snowmen and sledding at a nearby hill. Both Danielle and Matt enjoy snowboarding and look forward to introducing Adaleigh to the sport.
Our cottage in Harrison, Michigan, sits on a peaceful lake. Weekend gatherings often involve anchoring our boat in the middle of the lake alongside other families, creating the perfect spot for children to swim and play together in the water.
Matt’s Family:
Matt maintains a close relationship with both of his parents, who are retired and live in rural Northwest Montana. They stay connected through daily phone calls and regular video chats that include the whole family. Matt has two brothers: Dennis, who lives in Arlington, Texas, with his wife and three sons, and Joel, who lives with their parents in Montana. Joel is autistic, and while communication can sometimes be challenging, their bond remains incredibly strong. Joel finds joy in Disney movies, video games, puzzles, and toys, and he absolutely adores his niece Adaleigh.
Danielle’s Family:
Danielle comes from a small, tight-knit family where everyone lived within 45 minutes of each other during her childhood, creating countless opportunities for family gatherings. She and her sister share an incredibly close bond—they were roommates in San Diego for over eight years before Danielle and Matt moved to Michigan to establish their roots and grow their family. Living near her parents allows them to remain deeply involved in each other’s daily lives. They make it a priority to visit with her sister and brother-in-law at least twice a year, whether through vacations or trips between San Diego and Michigan. Laughter and good-natured jokes are always at the center of any gathering with Danielle’s family.
We feel that with a supportive family and ‘village’, our decision to adopt cross-culturally/racially will further our views as well as our children’s views of the world. There is a place for everyone in our home, and we will learn and work together to understand and celebrate the influences their cultural background can have on our family life.
Through our leadership of a small group at church, we are regularly surrounded by diverse, blended families within a culture of mutual support and acceptance.
We have three friendly and curious cats: Tiger Lily is the mama cat who watches over all of us with care; Zorro, in our daughter’s words is ‘the mightiest’ of all the cats, he sleeps a lot and loves his belly rubs; and Clarabelle is the youngest whom we rescued from a barn. They play together and love snuggles in the evenings when it’s time to quiet down and relax.
Holidays in our family are a combination of joyful traditions that span from the winter chill of Christmas to the vibrant warmth of the Fourth of July.
To kick-off the Christmas season we cut down our own Christmas tree, and enjoy hot chocolate and donuts at the tree farm. Cutting down our Christmas tree has led to years of memories that expand to decorating our tree with ornaments that we have gathered and made throughout our lives.
We have spent most years at our cottage to celebrate the Fourth of July. The community puts on a parade and fireworks show each year that we are always eager to attend.
Some of our other favorite traditions are weekly dinner with Danielle’s parents, Para weekend at our cottage where our close family friends come to visit, and going to the pumpkin patch to pick a Halloween pumpkin.
Each of these traditions, unique in their way, weaves together our family’s collective experiences, strengthening the bonds of love and unity across generations.
Our promise to you is that we will:
As you are considering a family to choose for your child we want to reiterate that our family is our heart and we can’t wait to expand our family. We live for every moment and glimpse in time where just the slightest reaction, excitement, or statement leaves us grinning from ear-to-ear.
We have prayed for your child to complete our family for years. Experiencing having a child of our own only further deepened our desire to welcome another child into our lives. We will raise your child with patience, care, love, empathy, and understanding as we face challenges, celebrate achievements, and expand our learning of this world together.
