I love to read Brandon Sanderson and Sarah J Maas their characters seem so fleshed out and I love epic fantasy. I've enjoyed a bookclub I joined where we manage to actually talk about the books we read and pick together each month. Its exposed me to a bunch of books I wouldn't normally have reached for.
I absolutely love hiking with my wonderful wife enjoying the beautiful sights Washington has to offer while getting in a nice workout and great quality time.
I collect and play Magic the gathering a super nerdy card game with lots of down time to socialize. It's one of the ways I've made new adult friends.

Bridget

My perfect day consists of waking up early, packing a picnic, and going on a hike with Stephen. We will eat our picnic on the trail and spend most of the day immersed in nature. On our way home we will pick up some yummy food (usually pizza, Thai, or tacos) and then spend the evening relaxing with a movie, reading, and/or Mariokart.
I love rooting on the Mariners and the Seahawks.
I went to college for musical theater - singing and dancing are a daily occurrence in our house.
My favorite children's book is The Grouchy Ladybug - especially when my mom reads it.

Why We Are Choosing to Adopt

We have decided that adoption is our best route for completing our family’s growth.

Lifestyle

We spend our free time focusing on quality time together through activities such as ballroom dancing, walking and listening to our audio books, hiking, reading, and daily gym adventures in the morning. We live in a multi-generational household with Bridget’s parents (and our cat Poe) and take trips to Syracuse, New York to visit Stephen’s parents, sister and brother in-law and our niece too! Family is a top priority for the both of us. Our future baby will be surrounded by love, books, music and dancing. We look forward to having a little one join us on walks and hikes as well as cozy days at home.

Fun Facts About Us:

  • We have been taking ballroom dance lessons together for over 3 years.
  • Our favorite hike we have been on is at Mount Rainier.
  • We have a lot of places on our bucket list to travel to together.
  • We enjoy theater (especially musicals and our cousin’s local performances)!
  • We love game nights with friends.

About Bridget by Stephen

Bridget is the most amazing combination of confidence and caring I’ve ever seen in a person. She is a wonderful singer which works great for car karaoke. She is a planner making sure everything goes off without a hitch, delegating superbly so tasks are completed in a timely fashion. She surprises me with wonderful date nights and trips and is the center of our friend group, getting everyone together.

She is great at entertaining and teaching children having been a teacher at a preschool as well as a dance and acting teacher for some of her previous jobs. She is also appropriately firm so what needs to get done gets done.

About Stephen by Bridget

Stephen is the most supportive person in my life and my safe place. When we started dating he lived 3 hours away from me and offered to drive to my city for our first date even though he is not a fan of driving. He is however, the best car passenger on our drives – making sure the podcast or music is just right and makes sure I have my snacks as needed. Stephen is so smart, kind, and passionate about the things and people that matter to him.

Children love Stephen. His cousins love to play with him and get excited when we come to visit. My niece also loves spending time with him, especially playing games!

Our Home

We love to take short walks in our neighborhood and in nearby parks. Our town has wonderful views of the mountains and water even when driving to ordinary places. We live very close to the Ferry to Seattle so we have easy access to all of the Puget sound activities. Our home has 2 large porches that are perfect for BBQ game nights with friends and family. It is also wonderful to listen to all the owls and other birds in the trees while reading or enjoying a cup of coffee. We have a large fenced yard which will provide lots of safe area to run and play. Our multi-generational household will model care and respect for others.

Our Family

Stephen’s family is in New York but we take annual trips to visit and they come to stay with us in our home at least once a year. We are excited to travel with our kiddo to visit their aunt, uncle and cousin. Our child will grow up with grandparents in the house and grandma will take care of them during our working hours. Our friends are all excited for us to grow our family and for them to be chosen aunts and uncles. We have cousins (with children) who live nearby, and more family in various parts of the country that we also enjoy visiting.

Racial & Cultural Diversity

We look forward to adopting a baby of any race. If the baby does not share the same race as us we intend to make sure that we connect with the birth family about what things they find important about their culture to pass along to the baby as well as educating ourselves.

Our Pets

We both love kitties, our current furbaby is named Poe he loves children, snuggling and playing with his stick toys.

Our Traditions and Values

  • We typically fly to Syracuse at Thanksgiving to celebrate with Stephen’s immediate and extended family.
  • Bridget makes Latkes every Hanukkah and lots of fun food around Christmas – We especially look forward to making Christmas cookies with our children.
  • For Stephen’s birthday every year we kick off hiking season with a stay near a national park and several hikes.
  • If our future child has a different cultural background than our own, we would first like to find out what traditions are important and special to the birth family, do some additional research, and then find ways to incorporate that into our family traditions too.
  • We love playing with Magnatiles, cars, beads, doing art, reading, and going to the park with kiddos. When they are old enough, games are also super fun.

Our Values

Our shared importance of family, and shared values of kindness, respect and exploration. We have very similar sense of humor and we both approached the relationship with open hearts and transparency about who we are and what we want.
