From Us to You

Dear Expectant Mother,

We want to thank you for considering us as parents for your child. At the center of our hearts is a promise to you to raise your baby with love, faith, stability, and access to life’s opportunities.  We found each other later in life and believe that God’s plan is for us to become adoptive parents.  We have been blessed with each other, our family, and our friends.  We know our lives will change forever with the gift of a child.  We are excited to start our journey in providing your child with a heartwarming household, surrounded by family and friends, education, and culture. We cannot wait to share our experiences and start a new chapter with your child.

We were both raised in loving, faith-filled homes that provided the best in education, guidance, and everyday fun that a child needs for personal growth.  Seth started working with his family’s vending company at the age of 4. You can say his arithmetic lessons began when counting how many Snickers were needed to fill up a row of candy slots. Nancy has fond memories of traditional Italian family get-togethers that included pasta dinners, singing, and playing cards with her grandparents. Both of our parents were big supporters of our activities which included baseball, hockey, ice skating, and cheerleading.  Secondary to faith, education was a priority.  We both had a great education from grammar school to college which led to successful careers in sales and finance.

Our families include two sets of loving parents, 3 siblings, 8 nieces and nephews, and extended families that cannot wait to welcome your child and provide the same love and respect that we all share for each other. Seth’s family lives about 4 hours away and Nancy’s parents, siblings, and nieces live about 20 minutes away and will be able to provide additional support. Our extended family also includes loving friends with children who have already offered play dates and future prom dates.

We have a great love for children and we are ready to begin the next chapter in our marriage journey.  Nancy has been around children all her life. She enjoyed babysitting and being a camp counselor when she was younger. Nancy is a loving aunt and actively participates in her niece’s dance recitals, traditional Easter egg hunts, baking Christmas cookies, sleepovers, and one-on-one time. Seth is a kid at heart who is always looking forward to dressing up for next Halloween. Children, including his two nephews, gravitate to him.  Seth’s nephews live out of state but frequent visits with them include special time playing baseball and video games.

Since we found each other later in life, it is our belief that God’s plan is for us to become adoptive parents.  We have been blessed with each other, our family, and our friends.  We know our lives will change forever with the gift of a child.  At the center of our hearts is a promise to you to raise your baby with love, faith, stability, and access to life’s opportunities. We cannot wait to share our experiences and start a new chapter with your child.

Thank you for letting us share our story with you. We already admire your courage and strength in making the sacrificial decision of adoption for your child. We are excited to learn more about you and would be humbled should you choose us to be your child’s adoptive parents.  Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this miraculous journey which we pray to share with you.

With love and admiration,
Seth and Nancy

Why We Are Choosing To Adopt

We have a great love for children and cannot wait to start a new chapter together through the blessing of adoption. We want nothing more than to have the opportunity to love, educate and provide the means for a child to succeed. We want to open our home to a child and give the same unconditional love and support that we received from our parents. We will also provide the best in education for your child’s growth and make sure he/she will participate in a variety of activities to enrich his/her life.

Nancy has always been around children that includes her six nieces and other friends’ kids. She is Godmother to three and is constantly playing a large part in their lives both socially and spiritually. Nancy has fond memories of babysitting each one of her nieces, playing board games, baking cookies and organizing impromptu playhouse time to stimulate their creative side. Seth jumps at the opportunity to teach his nephews anything sports related, such as baseball, but also helps with everyday challenges as the boys get older.

About Nancy, by Seth

Nancy is a lightning rod of energy that gives me the additional strength to accomplish almost anything. Whether I am tackling home improvement projects or generating business opportunities, Nancy is the first one to assure me everything will turn out for the best because she believes in my abilities. When we first met, I was immediately drawn to Nancy’s selfless, warm personality as seen within our circle of friends, family, and anyone else lucky enough to be associated with her. For years she has organized holiday cookie bakes and Easter egg coloring with our nieces to maintain a close family bond. She also loves to spread cheer by singing in the company choir and to senior citizens during the holidays. When there is time, Nancy’s adventurous spirit fuels her passion for nature hikes, horseback riding, skiing, ice skating, and rock climbing. Furthermore, Nancy is a member of the local sculling organization for outdoor rowing fun!

About Seth, by Nancy

I knew right away that Seth was the person I wanted to share my life with and grow together as a couple. My sister stated at our wedding that I have traveled all over the world only to experience my greatest adventure in finding Seth locally. My husband is ALWAYS positive as he finds the good in any experience. Seth is a hard worker at his job and personal life and always aims to better our experiences together. He spoils me with little things that are greatly appreciated like cooking dinners, packed lunches, “just because” flowers and coffee in the morning. Seth is exceptional around his nephews and other kids as they feed off his positive energy and want to play. Seth has a deep appreciation for music which was influenced by his father who shared that same passion. He also loves gardening, golf, baseball and other outdoor activities that he shares with me, family members and friends. It is amazing that until Seth walked into my life how I could get this far without him.

How We Met

Call it fate or timing, but it took 12 years of our paths crossing at different events before we officially met. At the end of December 2010, we had mutual out-of-town friends separately invite us out for the evening. It was the best way to ring in the New Year! We had our first real conversation that night which led to dinners, more dinners, concerts, sporting events, and then our marriage in 2013. Since our marriage, we have shared so many new adventures together and purchased a home specifically chosen to raise our family in.

Our Lifestyle

Seth and Nancy’s lifestyles are very family-oriented with activities that include get-together meals and celebrations, attending award presentations, dance recitals and karate tournaments.

Seth loves to cook and finds the kitchen the best form of relaxation and increased creativity. The most popular dishes and repeated requests are for Seth’s buttermilk deep fried chicken sliders, Cuban flank steak and 5 cheese baked mac and cheese. Nancy loves to bake, sing, hike, photography and plan for our next travel adventure. Every Christmas holiday the requests for Nancy’s magic layer bars become larger than the previous years.

As a couple we love to travel and learn about how other cultures live, experience different foods, arts and educate ourselves on the historical significance of the cities we visit. We also love the opportunity to spend time outside and enjoy the little things nature provides us.

Home & Neighborhood

In preparation for our dream of starting a family, we purchased a new home with raising a child in mind. Our home has a fenced-in backyard for playtime and space for our frequent families and friends gatherings. We both love to landscape and take pleasure watching our blue and white hydrangeas grow and having outdoor movie night in the summer. Seth also loves to cook and looks forward to providing lessons and having a new sous chef.

Our neighborhood has a large community of families and a park for children to participate in sports, arts and crafts, music, or other activities. The neighborhood kids play together outside of their homes by decorating sidewalks with chalk art, playing tag, or making snowmen in the winter. Also, we live close to the beach and a major league baseball stadium which we hope to spend many family fun-filled days.

Racial & Cultural Diversity

We have been blessed with the opportunity to travel worldwide and meet people of various cultures, from Italy to Vietnam. Our travels have enriched our lives by learning about many backgrounds, families, beliefs, and traditions.  In our experiences, the surroundings were different, but the families were similar to ours, with everyone wanting love and prosperity for one another.

During our visit to Vietnam, we stayed with a local family in a small village. We played soccer with the children while the parents prepared a Vietnamese dinner that included chicken, rice, vegetables, and other smoked meats. We ate, talked, laughed, and learned so much about our different cultures and lifestyles.

We are excited to learn about your child’s culture and celebrate with him/her these traditions. These customs are important as they will strengthen your child’s sense of identity and belief in oneself.

We also live in a diverse area that celebrates various heritages such as Hispanic, Asian, and Middle Eastern Families. Your child will grow up with friends from different cultures and backgrounds, and they will all be to support and learn from each other.

Our Relationship With Our Parents

We both have great relationships with our parents and a strong foundation with our entire family.

As a child, Seth’s parents were very nurturing and had a positive influence on all of his activities. At an early age, Seth worked with his parents and grandparents in the family business. Both Seth and his father enjoyed working together so much that their relationship grew into his dad coaching Seth’s little league baseball teams. Seth’s mom was an excellent cook that included breads, soups, pasta dishes and a family tradition, pasties. She helped fuel his passion for cooking as it is today. Both parents enjoyed various forms of music which led to Seth’s appreciation for any style of music. Furthermore, Seth has fond memories of playing baseball with his extended family of all ages.

At an early age, Nancy’s relationship with her parents was very similar to Seth’s upbringing. Her parents were very supportive of all her activities that included musicals, dance performances and cheerleading events. The bond between Nancy and her parents is so great that her mom said she missed Nancy’s singing around house when she left for college.

Nancy has fond memories as a child spending time with her extended family, including playing many games of bocce and basketball. Nancy, along with her siblings and cousins, participated in garage band performances while singing the greatest hits of their time. After dinner and dessert, Nancy would learn card games from her grandparents until it was time to go home.

Family Traditions

One of our favorite traditions is our annual family trip to Lake Michigan. We rent a house with our family and share meals, laughter, and beach time for fun and sunset watching. It is the ultimate, relaxing getaway. Many nights are spent on the beach gazing at the stars. We can’t wait to teach your child how to locate planets and constellations after a day of swimming and building sandcastles.

Our families are big sports fans. Every year we tailgate at Notre Dame football games. We look forward to the whole experience of bonding with family and friends, eating delicious foods, and sharing sport story memories.  Nancy especially loves walking campus during game day and listening to the college band play her alma mater fight song.

Halloween is a special time for Seth. He enjoys decorating the house and adds something new every year to keep the neighborhood children excited when they stop by our house for trick-or-treating. We can’t wait to carve pumpkins and hear your child’s ideas for what they want to be for Halloween. St. Patrick’s Day is one of Nancy’s favorite times of the year. She loves watching the city dye the river green and listening to the bagpipers as they march through the parade and join the Irish dancers performing the jig.

New Year’s Day and 4th of July are reserved for quality time with family and friends. We partake in a friendly appetizer contest and a day of fondue fun!

Our Faith

Together our journey of faith has evolved as we became new parishioners to a Catholic Church in our neighborhood. Seth went through its RCIA program to become part of the Catholic faith while Nancy, who was Seth’s spiritual sponsor, was raised Catholic. We enjoy the spiritual presence and the strong sense of community the Church provides. Families that attend the services are of all ages and support one another. Strong faith coupled with a supportive community is an ideal atmosphere in which we want to raise our child.

We believe having faith is key in our everyday lives. Through prayers we obtain the additional strength and spiritual guidance to proceed with the challenges we are faced. Our faith also teaches us to treat others with equality and kindness.

Nancy volunteers her efforts with the elderly and homeless programs. We volunteer our services for fundraising events, such the Church’s annual gala event, block party and other programs that raise money for charitable organizations. Since Seth enjoys cooking, he is trying to arrange his time to help prepare meals for the homeless.

Travel

We both love to travel. Given a 3-day weekend we would prefer to relax on a beachfront in some quaint little town that offers unique places to eat and window shop, as well as sail into the warm summer sunset. In the winter, we love to take a quick weekend getaway at a nearby resort for outside activities like skiing or tubing. Nancy is more the avid skier but Seth is looking forward to taking lessons with his future son or daughter. We love to take advantage of long weekends by visiting Seth’s out-of-town family members who are a short car ride away.

What We Will Share & Teach

We will be talking about adoption at an early age, especially during your child’s developmental milestones so he or she will know that adoption is part of their history. We will also tell your child about how you had the courage to place their care in our hands.

A child is a gift from God. If we are blessed with the opportunity in raising your child, then we will pass on the same knowledge that we have learned from our parents. Your child will learn that life is not perfect but through faith and hard work, many things can be accomplished. He/she will also treat others as equals and with the same respect he/she wants to be treated.

Our Promise To You

We promise to raise your child in a safe and secure home and we will give them all the opportunities we can. We will teach your child not to be afraid of the unknown but to learn from it and embrace what life has to offer. We will expose your child to music and the arts, food, academics, sports, and other surroundings to help build his/her character. Your child will be extremely loved by not only us but also an entire family who supports and cares for one another. If chosen by you, we would be overwhelmed by joy and will appreciate every moment of raising your child.
