From Us to You

A Letter of Love to Our Child’s Birth Mother,

To say thank you for even considering adoption will never be enough to show our gratitude, but we still want to take a moment to express how grateful we are for you. The consideration to place your child in the love and care of another family is without question, one of the most selfless acts that any person can do for the benefit of another. We will be sure that your baby always knows that the very first act of love he or she received was your courageous choice to pursue adoption. In turn, we will never forget that your decision allowed us the miracle of starting our own family.

Please know that our home will be one filled with unconditional love, continuous encouragement, and endless laughter. We cannot wait to show your baby all of the things we love and have him or her experience different cultures, sports, cuisines, and experiences.

We are a musical family! Caleb plays the piano and guitar and Heather sings. We will teach your child to appreciate and love all music, from the doo-wop of The Temptations to incredible R&B artists such as Otis Redding and Bruno Mars. We will also have him or her rocking out to the Rolling Stones and Kelly Clarkson. Who knows, maybe he or she will want to play an instrument. We need a drummer in the family!

We also love to travel! We will be sure that your child experiences all of the cultures that life has to offer. Heather grew up with both the beach and the mountains, so your child will know the excitement of building a snowman as well as hunting for seashells on the beach.

Caleb is a huge sports fan. He will make sure that he teaches your child about football, golf, basketball, or whatever sport he or she is interested in. They will also know what it means to cheer on the LSU Tigers! In turn, Heather loves to bake and will teach your child about fun in the kitchen, as they make her signature Cookies and Cream macarons.

Above all else, we plan to teach your child about faith and in particular, about God’s love, His protection, and His grace. When we do this, we want to make sure that your baby sees that God’s love for us looks just like your love for your unborn child in this very moment. This act of grace towards your baby is an exact reflection of God’s love for all of us.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us through our profile. We hope that your life is filled with happiness both today and in the future.

With love,
Caleb & Heather

Why We Are Choosing to Adopt

From the moment we got married, we knew we wanted to be parents. Until our first year of marriage, there was no reason that we ever thought we would struggle. The last year of our journey has been tough, hearing things like “we don’t know why you can’t get pregnant, “ or having to consider alternative methods. But through everything, we still knew that God was calling us to parenthood. Even in our earliest discussions, while we were dating, we talked about possibly adopting a beautiful baby to be part of our family.

We can’t begin to imagine the fear and heartache that you must be facing, knowing that the best plan for your child is to let them grow up somewhere else. We want you to know that your child will grow up in a home filled with support, laughter, and love. From the moment we decided to begin our adoption journey, we have felt an overwhelming peace, and we can’t wait to become parents to your beautiful child.

How We Met

We met in Louisiana in 2014 while serving together at our local church. Caleb says that Heather loved him immediately, but Heather’s version (the true one) is that it took a few months. But once we started dating, our chemistry and love were undeniable. We dated for 11 months and were married in 2015. Because we are both musicians, we threw a party and danced to Motown classics all night! Our faith is very important to us. It has carried us through many hard times, including the journey that led us to adoption. During our marriage, we have learned that we must actively try and put each other’s needs above our own. When we do that, our love for each other and the world around us continues to grow.

Our Lifestyle

We are adventurous and love to explore new places. We also love college football, trying new foods (we’re foodies!), and experiencing new cultures. We both are big music lovers and Caleb plays the guitar and piano and Heather sings. We hope to pass down our love of music to your child, but if music is not their thing, we will support them in finding their own passions and interests. We think that we are pretty fun (haha)! Honestly, we are each other’s best friend and partner. We love living this life together and taking on whatever adventures God has for us. Our Faith is a big part of our life and we are actively involved in our church. We are so blessed that laughter is a key ingredient to who we are as individuals and who we are as a couple. We try to make each other laugh every day, and we make it a point to find joy in everything that we do.

About Heather

Heather loved me from the moment she met me. At least that’s what I tell myself. If I’m honest, I’m the one who loved her from the moment I saw her. When I first met Heather, she smiled at me…and my life has never been the same. One of the things that I love about Heather is her sense of adventure. She is always up for exploring new places and trying new things. She loves to bake, especially her signature macarons… which works out, because I love to eat them! She was kind enough to become a fan of the LSU Tigers for me, but I also had to become a fan of the Denver Broncos for her. Above everything though, what I love most about her is that she has the sweetest and kindest heart toward everyone she meets. She has a compassionate spirit and giving nature, which I know she will pass on to your child. She is full of limitless love, puts her family first, and keeps a wonderful home. I know that she is going to be an incredible mother.

About Caleb

Caleb will try to claim that I loved him from the moment I met him… Yeah, it took a little bit longer than that 🙂 But I will say, falling in love with him did come quickly and easily. One of the things I love about him is that he is up for anything. Caleb definitely loves him some college football (FYI becoming an LSU fan in this family is definitely a requirement hehehe), golf, and music. He also loves going to art exhibits and pastry cooking classes with me. Our home is filled with endless laughter and that is in major part due to this man. Now we are not perfect by any means, but I am truly thankful EVERY day that he is my husband and partner. He is a leader, a protector, a man after God’s heart, kind, thoughtful and honestly a ton of fun to be around. I cannot wait to see him as a dad. He will be the best!

Home and Neighborhood

We were blessed to find a home in our little community. The townhome that we rent is a perfect size for a growing family. Our neighbors are both young families and some grandparent-like couples that all watch out and help each other. Caleb and I have received many lessons in gardening from the sweet retired couple next door and love spending time outside with everyone listening to music and chatting away. Now I know it must sound like a “Leave It to Beaver” type of neighborhood, but trust me everyone is genuine and normal. There is also cute little playground that is less than a block away. We frequent that quite a bit when we are watching our niece and nephews. We know this house might not be our forever home, but we are so thankful that we ended up in this area with some awesome people.

Heather loves Winnie the Pooh. As we started thinking about how we wanted to decorate a nursery, it was the perfect fit. We love the vintage Winnie and figured it can work for both a boy or a girl. To do a painting or mural was an idea both Heather and her mom (future Grandma) wanted to do together. Since we also are huge music lovers, we tried figuring out how to work that in…Winnie the Pooh Abbey Road was born. Heather and her mom loved every minute of drawing and painting this canvas that is now hung in the nursery. We cannot wait for our future little one to see it!

Family and Friends

Heather’s parents live out of state, but whether we travel to them or they come to us, we make sure to spend lots of time with them. They will definitely be visiting us even more when there is a new addition to the family. They are extremely excited to be grandparents! We can’t wait for them to share Grandma’s amazing art skills and how Grandpa kills it on the golf course. We have some of our best friends, Jonathan and Ashleigh, living about 5 minutes away. We have known this couple for too many years to count and their kids call us Uncle Caleb and Auntie Heather. We love that they are so close and that we get to be an active participant in their lives as well. We are also surrounded by friends that have become our extended family…all of whom cannot wait to become aunts and uncles. Needless to say, feeling loved and cared for is something your child will never be short of.

Our Faith

Our faith is the most important thing that we have in this life. We believe that we are saved and redeemed through our faith in Jesus Christ and that God has wonderful plans for us and our future child! What’s beautiful about this is that we have the opportunity to adopt a child into our family just like God adopted us into his family. As a part of our faith, we are very active in our church. We both serve on our worship leadership team. Caleb plays piano (and sings) and Heather sings. Many of our friendships were born out of our church activity. The adoption process itself has been a faith-stretching journey as we have had to learn to become completely reliant on God’s faithfulness and His timing.

Vacations

We love to take quick road trips to explore new places. Some of our favorites over the years have been weekend trips to: Niagara Falls (on the Canadian side), Memphis, TN to eat Ribs and see Elvis’s house), Panama City and Ocean City for quick beach weekends, and New York City at Christmastime. To be honest, anytime Heather can find an excuse, we will spend a 3-Day weekend at the beach. When we aren’t traveling, we love going to museums, the zoo, local festivals, or having some time together enjoying our home.

Our Traditions

We don’t have set traditions for every season, but we try to squeeze the best out of every season and find fun activities to make the most of every opportunity! We love fall because it means fall activities and pumpkin spice, which is Caleb’s jam! Fall also means the start of LSU Football. We celebrate the start of the season with Cajun food that Caleb makes (Jambalaya, Gumbo, etc.) For Thanksgiving, we watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in our pajamas and eat cinnamon rolls! The Christmas Season starts when Santa shows up at the parade!! We put up Christmas decorations as early as possible and watch as many Christmas movies as we can. Throughout the rest of the year, we make every birthday special and are big believers in celebrating “birthday week”. Another special highlight is Caleb’s enjoyment of The Master’s Golf tournament on TV each year, which results in Heather enjoying the best nap of the year!

What We Will Tell Our Child About Their Birth Mom

We will tell our child how brave his/her birth mom is and that her love is big, special and selfless. We plan to ensure that our child knows everything that we know about their birth family and that his/her birth mom did the hardest, most selfless thing one can do out of love in making sure that her child has the brightest, most beautiful future possible.

Our Promise to You

We promise that your child will know love…and not just our unconditional love for them, but the sacrificial love that YOU have for them. We promise your child will never go hungry, will always be safe and warm, will get an education, will thrive and be supported in whatever sports/arts/music they are interested in, will be comforted when they are sad, and we promise they will know they are loved every single day. We do not take your sacrifice lightly and we will never be able to truly express how grateful and honored we are in you choosing us.
