From Us to You

We are humbled by your courage and strength in taking this difficult step to consider adoption for your baby. Wherever your journey leads you, we hope you find comfort in knowing that you have chosen a life where your baby will be regarded as the biggest blessing and will be cherished every day. You don’t know us yet, but we have been praying for you for a while now. No doubt you have a lot of nerves about this process—we do too. You want what is best for your precious baby—we do too. Most importantly—we want what is best for you. One thing that has been pressed upon our hearts is the very real struggle that you have and will go through with this process. We know that you are an incredibly courageous, brave woman, and we are so excited to meet you. If you decide on our family, we can promise you that your baby will always know how much you love them and how special you are.

When I (Alex) married Matt, I was blessed with 2 stepdaughters. We connected instantly and our relationship has been special ever since. One thing we know for sure is your baby will have the most incredible big sisters to look up to. Madison is 16 and Abigail is 13. They are SO excited to welcome a new sibling into our family. Madison is responsible, outgoing, vibrant and reliable. She will make a great CEO one day.  We like to call Abigail our “little mommy” because she is nurturing, loving, kind, and sweet. She will make an amazing nurse one day.

Our journey to parenthood has been extremely difficult, yet humbling. Never did we think in our wildest dreams that Alex would struggle with infertility as a young, healthy woman. After four years of multiple surgeries and fertility treatments, we got the life changing news that carrying a baby would be nearly impossible. We all have this vision of how our lives are supposed to go, and when it doesn’t go according to plan it’s hard to pivot. That day, we were given a big slice of humble pie to be reminded that we are not in control, God is. We are firm believers that everything happens for a reason, and our hearts turned to adoption. One of our favorite quotes is, “Don’t let your past define you, destroy you, or defeat you. Let it strengthen you.”

We will be sure to keep in contact with you and your extended family if that is what you desire. We understand that there may be grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins involved in this process, and they are very important to us as well. It is a priority to us that your baby knows their story and the sacrifices that were made for them out of love. We will send photos and emails, make phone calls, and have visits. We believe open adoption is a healthy option for everyone involved that can help in the healing process and provide an opportunity for healthy relationships to form throughout life.

Humbled by the weight of your decision, we hope that we can fulfill your desire to find a loving family for your child. If you feel that our family is the right one for your child, we would be honored to welcome your child into our home and hearts. We are ready to begin this journey with you. We pray that you find strength and peace every day and that God blesses you for the amazing courage you have.

With our deepest gratitude and respect,
Matt & Alex

Why We Are Choosing to Adopt

We have eagerly tried to have a baby for over four years and experienced failed IUIs, IVF transfers, and multiple surgeries. After years and years of treatment, we finally closed the door on IVF and decided to explore other options. The more we talked about adoption, the more excited we got. The thought of being connected with you, a woman who is courageously placing her child out of love, really pulled us in. We would be honored to be a part of something so miraculous.

All About Alex, by Matt

Alex brings a spontaneous, fun loving spirit to our family! She loves to keep busy and always has something fun on the calendar. Alex is always thinking of others, loves animals, and would give you the shirt off her back. What I love most about her are her empathetic heart and witty personality. Alex is the type of person that you could tell anything to, and she would never judge you. She has a beautiful way of looking at things with an open mind and heart. We all joke around and call Alex the “travel agent.” She always has something up her sleeve, whether it be planning some type of celebration, a weekend getaway or an awesome family vacation. She has a gift of making everything special, no matter how small or big it is. Alex is incredibly generous, creative and fun! She is an incredible stepmother to my daughters and our family is so blessed to have her.

All About Matt, by Alex

Matt brings a positive, adventurous spirit to our family! He loves football, baseball, surfing, you name it..he loves it! Matt is extremely athletic and is always doing some sort of physical activity. Matt loves to surf, play softball, and spend quality time with his daughters. My favorite thing about Matt is that he is an amazing dad. He has never missed a soccer game, a dance recital or school activity. In fact, he’s the one that gets there an hour early to get the front row. Matt is extremely hard working and the ultimate provider for his family. He is family oriented, easy going, and so understanding. Matt is always positive and optimistic about any situation. You would never find Matt saying a negative thing about anyone or anything. He has a way of always seeing the glass half full! Matt is an amazing human being and our family is so blessed to have him.

How We Met

We met through a mutual friend in 2013. We dated for 11 months before Matt popped the question on the beach at sunset. We were engaged for about 2 years before we started the wedding process. We got married in Southern California in February 2017 with 120 of our closest friends and family. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception that we will always cherish.

Alex: Funny story, Matt actually stood me up on our first date! Rude, right!?! He claims he took a nap and forgot to set an alarm. I ended up giving him a second chance to redeem himself, and I am so glad I did because the rest was history!

Our Lifestyle

We live in Southern California, an hour away from a major city. There is so much to do around us with the beach only 1 mile away and a 1.5 hour drive to get to the mountains or the desert. We have a pretty structured weekday routine and we love to fill our weekends with fun activities. We go to farmer’s markets, ride our bikes to the beach, go out to eat, and hang out with family. Sometimes we will even make a day trip and head up to the city, boardwalks, and well known beach towns. Matt works from home and Alex is a teacher, so whenever there is a break for school, we are typically out of town. During spring break, we love visiting Palm Springs and San Diego. In the summer, we love to travel to Hawaii.  For Thanksgiving break, we always go back east to Pennsylvania and pick a New England state we haven’t seen before. We love to be home during Christmas because we feel it’s important to also create memories at home and have our kids wake up in their own beds on Christmas morning. As much as we love to live a busy lifestyle and enjoy seeing new places and doing new things, we also enjoy relaxing at home. If we don’t have an activity planned, you can find us at home watching Netflix and ordering take out.

Our Careers

Matt is self-employed and works as a mortgage broker. He has been in the real estate industry for over 20 years and has worked his way up the ladder! He has a passion for finance and getting people into their dream homes. The best part about Matt’s job is that it is so flexible and he gets to make his own schedule. Alex works at a public school and helps students with special needs. She has such a passion for teaching and learning that she decided to go back to school. This year, she will obtain her multiple subject credential and Master’s Degree in Education. Alex’s career also gives her flexibility during the summer and all holiday breaks.

Home & Neighborhood

We live in a 4 bedroom house about a mile from the beach. We have a big, spacious backyard with lemon trees, orange trees, and apple trees. We love to spend time in our backyard playing with our dogs and listening to music. We live in a beautiful, safe, family neighborhood that’s within walking distance of our local park. We absolutely love our neighbors. Everyone is always looking out for each other. What we love most about our neighborhood is seeing kids outside playing barefoot, scooters on the side of the street, and the ice cream man driving through. Kids get to be kids here and we love it.

Our Families

Our families live all over the place, which means we get to travel and go on fun family trips. Matt’s parents and his twin sister live in Arizona. Matt’s parents, Mike and Shelly (or Nana and Papa) try to visit us every two months, and love to spoil their grandkids every chance they get! Matt’s best friend is his older brother, Chris, who lives down the street from us. Alex’s mom, Jodi, lives in Las Vegas so we make frequent visits there. Her mom visits at least once a month and stays for a few days. Alex’s dad, Tom, lives in Pennsylvania and we travel there every Thanksgiving and spend the week there. He is a pilot and visits whenever he is on the west coast. Alex has two sisters who both live within 5 minutes of us. Alex is the middle sister and spends a lot of time with her older sister, Lauren, and nephew, Ryder. We are both extremely close with our siblings and love to all spend time together. We get together with our family at least 2-3 times a week.

Family Traditions

Traditions are so important to us because it gives us a sense of comfort, belonging and brings our families together. One of Alex’s favorite traditions growing up was getting a pair of pajamas on Christmas Eve, and getting to choose 1 present to open up early. It’s a tradition we have continued and our daughters look forward to it every year. Another favorite family tradition is picking out our Christmas tree every December 1st. Rain or shine, you will find us at a tree lot with hot cocoa picking out our perfect Christmas tree. We usually spend Easter in Palm Springs. The weather is perfect, and we love relaxing by the pool after a big Easter brunch. Every 4th of July we ride our bikes down to the parade, have a block party with friends, and then head back to the beach to watch the fireworks on the sand! It’s a HUGE holiday in our community and we look forward to it every year. For Thanksgiving, we spend a week with Alex’s dad in Pennsylvania. He lives on 6 acres of land with chickens and tractors. We love to be together as a family, feast, and watch football!
