Dear Expectant Mom

Dear Expectant Mother,

We can't imagine what you are going through during this difficult time and we admire you so much for wanting to do what is best for you and your baby. We believe that God has a plan for us and that our dream of becoming parents could come true because of your bravery and selflessness. We promise to provide your child with countless opportunities to grow, play and become the best they can be. Our faith is very important to us and we will impress the importance of believing in God and that all things are possible if we believe in Christ.

We met on an online website. I saw Neil's profile and wrote to him saying "I like your smile." We began to communicate and after a month decided to go on our first date which was to a Giants baseball game. We got along well and had many common values and interests. I loved Neil’s sense of humor, his ability to listen without judgment and his loving heart. I also liked the church Neil was attending and felt very welcomed. After 15 months of dating, Neil finally got the nerve to propose to Beth. I loved her kindness, candor and her love of family and genuine concern for people. On October 2014 we were going to the World Series game and I proposed to Beth, and she said “Yes!”

I, Bethann, have always dreamed of being a mother. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a nurse because I have an affinity for taking are of others. I cannot wait to care for, love and nurture a child. I look forward to reading him/her their favorite books, dropping and picking them up from school, and loving on them after a bad day

I, Neil, can’t wait for the opportunity to become a father and grow our family. I look forward to playing together, eating dinner together and learning new things with each other. Not only do I look forward to the good days, but we are prepared to support your child through the not so good days too. Whatever life has to offer, I will always be there to face it together.

I, Beth come from a large family that includes my parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and lots of nieces and nephews. Neil comes from a family with 2 younger brothers. His parents divorced and later they both remarried, so in the process Neil gained 2 step brothers, 2 step sisters and a few more nieces and nephews. Neil’s parents came from big families and as a result, Neil has several aunts and uncles and cousins all across the United States. So we have lots of support from family, friends, church family and many co-workers’ ready to become Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and Cousins to your child and ready to welcome your child into our family.

Some of the family traditions that we look forward to sharing with your child are getting together yearly for family vacations, get-togethers for game night and making homemade pizzas, 4th of July celebrations where we enjoy barbecuing and watching fireworks at the end of the day. We enjoy camping in different State Parks throughout California. Most important is family dinners together, where we help set the table and eat dinner together while we talk about our day.

We know as we write this, you are facing an incredible decision and we thank you for considering us as a partner in that great adventure.

Thank you for the courage you have to make that decision.

Neil & Bethann

Q & A

Q: Tell us about your home and neighborhood:
A: We live in a two bedroom condo, with a recreational area close by, very good schools, parks and shopping centers. Our neighborhood is culturally diverse. It is an active neighborhood with people walking their dogs, out for a jog and kids playing at the playgrounds or participating in the local little leagues. There is a local martial arts center and even a center to Learn to Dance center. There are a variety of interests for a child to explore in our community.

Q: When you have a three day weekend, what do you like to do?
A: We might start the three day weekend off with spending time at home, catching up on chores and then make plans to take a drive to the beach to play in the sand and water or the mountains to go hiking. We might catch a movie or explore a new place we haven’t been to before. Sometimes we like to go to a Giants baseball game or have friends over for a barbecue and game night. Sundays you will find us at church and after we might go out to eat or visit with family.

Q: Do you have pets?
A: No. But we do eventually hope to have a dog in the house.

Q: What do you hope to teach your child?
A: We want our child to have big dreams for their lives and to take pride in themselves. We hope to teach them to be respectful, to honor your elders and that mom and dad will always be there for them, even when they become an adult. We can’t wait to see their passions develop as they grow older and to provide them with the opportunities to develop their passions and interests in life and to love God with their whole heart.

Q: What will we tell your child about his/her birth mom?
A: We will tell our child that she made an incredible decision to allow us to raise them for her, and that she gave us the opportunity to have a family. We plan to always be open and honest with our child and answer any questions surrounding his/her birth mom. She will always be shed in a positive light.

Q: Are you active in your church. Tell us about your activities:
A: We are very active in our church and attend services every week. Bethann helps lead the Women’s Ministry at our church and is one of the soundboard workers. In the last year, she has also helped organize outreach programs and game nights at the church. Neil teaches Sunday school and is a deacon in the church. Neil supports Bethann with her activities, and he also occasionally helps organize the men’s ministry activities.

Q: How will a child enrich our lives?
A: We look forward to sharing our love and life with your child. We know they will help us to grow as parents and allow us the opportunity to impart the wisdom we have gained throughout our lives. We can’t wait to be there for every milestone and special moment and experience the pure joy that will comes from watching your child grow and become the best version of themselves.

Q: Describe your last vacation or daytrip:
A: Ironically we are writing this the day after our return from a two week vacation in Texas. We spent time visiting Bethann's family and Neil’s friends all while taking a road trip from Dallas to Austin to Houston. Along the way we visited and saw natural scenery, historical sites, attended sporting events, visited parks, and even spent the day in Galveston enjoying the view of the Gulf of Mexico and walking “Pleasure Point Pier” We took time to relax and hang out together.

Q: Will you be a stay at home parent or working parent? Describe your day care plans.:
A: When we return to work our plans for day care will be a local child care center. During the summer months and school vacations, Neil will be a full time stay at home parent.

Q: When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his/her birth mother?
A: We are grateful and thankful for the decision you made to entrust us and allow us to care for and raise your child. We see your child as a precious blessing and gift and never want to lose sight of that.
