Q: Tell us about your home and neighborhood.
A: We absolutely love our home and think it is the absolute cutest :) It’s just a small home, but is comfortable and perfect for our little family. We have a nice, big backyard, perfect for running around, with a play structure, deck, water feature, and fire pit! We live in a quiet neighborhood, and are within walking distance to multiple parks, the elementary school, nature walks, the library, and, most important, Grandma and Grandpa's house!
Q: When you have a 3-day weekend, what do you like to do?
A: We LOVE the outdoors. On long weekends we love to go camping or to the beach. If we decide to have a stay-cation we’ll go on a hike, take the boat out for tubing and skiing, or invite lots of people over for a BBQ where we’ll play volleyball, basketball, Frisbee, etc. and end the night with a bonfire and movie outside.
Q: Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them.
A: We have a very sweet pup named Dallas! He is 5 years old and the BEST dog you could ask for. He is half lab, half Texas heeler and is super energetic and loves food! He is very well behaved, and will learn anything for a treat. He has spent a lot of time around our nieces and nephews and is so good with them. He is gentle and just wants all of the belly scratches and for someone to throw the ball for him!
Q: What do you hope to teach your children?
A: There are so so SO many things that we want to teach our children! A few of the most important things we want to teach them are to be kind, work hard, love everyone, and always be looking for opportunities to serve others. It’s important that they have the life skills necessary to succeed in whatever they want to do!
Q: What will you tell your child about his or her birth mom?
A: Aaron’s dad was adopted and has talked about his experiences growing up a lot. It’s important that our baby grows up knowing that their birth mother loves them and wants them to be happy and healthy more than anything in the world. We plan to openly raise our baby knowing who they are and where they came from.
Q: Are you active in your church? Tell us about your activities.
A: We are very active in our church! We love the people there and the positive environment it provides. We attend church every Sunday, but are also learning and talking about gospel principles daily in our home. Our church provides programs for children to learn and grow in the gospel through singing, fun activities, and service to their community.
Q: How will a child enrich your life?
A: A child will give us the opportunity to grow as individuals, our relationship, and our family. We have already grown so much in the last 5 years together and know that adding a child into our lives will challenge us in new ways and make us better. We are successful in our professional lives but have always felt like that takes a back seat to our family life and raising children. Your beautiful baby will complete our family and give us a greater purpose.
Q: Describe your last vacation and/or day trip.
A: Our last vacation was to Disneyland! We go every 4 years with our whole family and have a blast! We went for a week and spent 4 days in Disneyland riding all the rides, enjoying the parades, eating all of the delicious food, and having the most magical time! We spent the last 2 days at the beach soaking up the sun, playing in the ocean, collecting awesome sea shells, and building sand castles!
Q: Will you be a stay-at-home parent? If so, what are your day-to-day plans?
A: I (Taira) will be staying home! It is something that I am SO excited about!! I have so many plans, and can’t wait to do all the things! I want to have story time, play games, go on walks, play in the backyard, have cousin play dates, and spend every second that I can with your beautiful baby. During naps I’ll work on my at-home health coaching business, and the rest of the day will be filled being a homemaker and mother.
Q: Will you be returning to work? If so, describe your day-to-day plans.
A: I (Aaron) will be returning to work after taking a couple months off to be with our new angel. In my position at work I have the opportunity to create my own schedule and work from home often, which gives me lots of chances to be with our family and take them on lots of adventures!
Q: When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his or her birth mother?
A: She is truly an angel. We can’t help but get emotional thinking about her. She is giving us something that we couldn’t give ourselves and it just shows how fantastic she truly is. She is courageous, kind, selfless, and so strong. She is an answer to our prayers.
