As we are writing this letter to you, we imagine you reading it and all the emotions you must be having. You are considering making an important and difficult decision that will change your life and the life of your baby. We can’t even attempt to imagine being in your shoes… One simply cannot… And even though we are at different points in our lives, there is one thing that connects us. We know that you love your child with all your heart, unconditionally, forever… and so will we. You are a courageous and selfless mother who is trying to do what is best for your baby. We promise to cherish your baby and make all important decisions with them in mind.
We both came from humble beginnings and came to America in search of a better life, and opportunities for ourselves and our future kids. We have worked hard at creating a secure and stable home for a child. We are so ready and beyond excited to welcome your child to our loving home. We are really looking forward to watching your baby’s little feet chasing our cat Simba around the house, waking them up for “happy-face-pancakes,” singing lullabies, and telling bedtime stories in the evenings. We intend to create a solid foundation for your baby to grow in any direction they choose. We would love to hear about the dreams you have for your child, and how we can help those dreams come true!
Your baby will be enveloped in a cocoon of love, attention, and unwavering support, providing the perfect environment for them to flourish and grow. As Victoria wraps up her maternity leave at the hospital where she works as a nurse, she’s planning to transition to part-time hours, working only two days a week. During those workdays, Tom, who runs his own business and has the flexibility to create his own schedule, will be on full-time daddy duty.
Tomas was born and raised in Lithuania and Victoria was born and raised in Belarus. These are small neighboring countries that share a lot of history and cultural similarities, however, don’t speak the same language. Both of speak several languages so we were able to communicate in English!
Prior to moving to the US, Tomas was studying marketing at university and Victoria was studying to be a teacher. Both of us moved to the US in the early 2000s. We met in 2010 at Victoria’s friends’ wedding. Tomas enjoys photography, and Victoria’s friend asked him to take pictures of the wedding. After the wedding, with the great power of persuasion of big blue eyes and long butterfly-like lashes, Tomas talked Victoria into meeting again and showed her a Colorado she didn’t know at that time: beautiful high-peaked mountains, wildlife at the arms-reach, clear creeks, and breathtaking sunsets. We talked for hours about anything and everything while staring at the stars and it felt like we knew each other from a previous life. We have been together since. Later, Tomas went to college again and graduated with a degree in economics. Victoria studied Therapeutic Recreation and later changed her career to become a nurse.
Tom and I are from Europe, and we moved to the US in the early 2000’s. When we met, both of us just started college. We knew that we would want to start a family at some point of time, but we wanted to get settled and established first: travel the beautiful country we just moved to, graduate, find a job and be financially stable. When we were ready to start a family, after some time, we realized we couldn’t. We worked with reproductive medicine specialists for many years and underwent numerous procedures trying to conceive a baby.
Despite many unsuccessful attempts we are still very hopeful to become parents, create a family and have a chance to love your child to the moon and back. Our hearts are full of love, and we are ready to share it with your child and with you. We know that you love your child very much and all the love that will surround your child will take root in our joint family.
It can be difficult to find the right words to write about someone when they simply mean everything to you. Which is what Victoria is to me. She has made my life better in every aspect, and has transformed our house into a home.
I met my wife, Victoria, 18 years ago. From the first moment I saw her I wanted to be with her all the time. She was and still is extremely funny, compassionate, very supportive, and is always by my side. We share the same dream to be always together and have a family someday. Victoria is well educated and works as a nurse. She cares about helping people and promotes a healthy life style. I cannot imagine my life without her. We were not able to have kids on our own, however, I believe that Victoria will be a great mom one day. She has so much desire to teach little kids and give them so much love!
Tomas isn’t just my husband; he’s my partner in every sense of the word. He’s the one who lifts me up, encourages me to dream big, and reminds me of the beauty in life’s simplest moments. His dedication to our family is unwavering, always placing our well-being above all else. Tomas is like a solid rock, providing stability and strength that grounds us through any storm life throws our way. When I’m with him, I feel a sense of safety and protection that’s truly unparalleled.
You know, there’s this side of Tomas that not everyone sees right away. He’s not just responsible and reliable; he’s also incredibly gentle and caring. He’s the kind of person who’ll cuddle up with our cat, Simba, and spoil him rotten with affection. And let me tell you about his passion for biking! It’s infectious. He’s already got his bike ready and waiting, buzzing with excitement at the thought of teaching our child how to ride. I can practically hear him talking about it now!
We absolutely adore our time in the mountains—it’s where we truly come alive. In winter, you’ll find us carving up the slopes on our snowboards, and we always make sure to plan a few longer trips to different resorts, both in our state and beyond. When summer rolls around, we’re all about mountain biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, and paddle boarding. And of course, we can’t resist the call of the water, whether it’s a tranquil lake or the vast ocean. That’s why we make it a point to schedule yearly trips with friends and family to Lake McConaughy and California for some serious sun and surf.
Our adventures don’t stop there—we’ve explored countless national parks and even ventured across the pond to Europe together. And back home, we’re regulars at the YMCA, which happens to be right next to our house. Let me tell you, they’ve got some seriously cool activities there! I swear, sometimes I feel like I want to be a kid again myself. They’ve even got a summer tubing hill—can you imagine the fun we’ll have there with our little one? It’s moments like these that we can’t wait to share with our child, creating memories that’ll last a lifetime.
Simba is our cat. He is a two-year-old orange tabby, and his character is as orange as it gets! He is a very playful and adventurous cat that is full of energy. He loves kids and people! One of our neighbors’ kids thought that Simba had a motor inside of him because Simba is a real “purring machine!”
Balancing our time between our town-home in Denver and the house in the mountains we find the perfect blend of nature and urban excitement. Our Denver neighborhood is a welcoming haven for families, where familiar faces greet us at every turn (especially Simba, who patrols the area daily, knowing everyone by heart). Our cozy patio, just off the living room, opens up to common area with beautiful trees and lush grass often filled with the delightful sights and sounds of various birds and critters. With the added perk of a refreshing swimming pool in our complex, we eagerly anticipate the joyous laughter and splashing of children during summertime pool days—soon to be accompanied by your little one’s giggles and splashes.
We’re avid fans of Denver’s cultural scene, eagerly attending concerts, festivals, and sporting events. Whether we’re cheering on the Denver Nuggets or the Avalanche, you’ll hear our cheers echoing through the arena. And with Grandma’s delightful tradition of treating the whole family to the Nutcracker ballet during the festive Christmas season, your child’s holidays are bound to be filled with enchantment and joy.
Tomas’s parents, just 15 minutes away, are eager to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Tom’s mother, currently a teacher’s aide, is more than prepared to step into her role as a full-time grandmother at the drop of a hat. And even though Victoria’s mother resides in Europe, she’s just a plane ride away and ready to spoil your little one rotten with love and affection whenever she visits.
We’re part of a tight-knit circle of friends, with some relationships spanning over 12 years. Our group is a melting pot of immigrants like ourselves, so when we get together, you’ll hear a symphony of languages—Lithuanian, Spanish, Polish, Chinese, and more. Many of us don’t have our families nearby, which has bonded us even tighter. Over the years, we’ve shared countless holidays, road trips, vacations, and supported each other through thick and thin. Help and support from our families and friends is abundant, whether it’s helping us prepare our home for the arrival of our child, offering babysitting services when needed, or simply being there to share in the joys and challenges of parenthood.
Most of our holidays, we spend with our friends. Thanksgiving and Christmas are usually hosted by one of the families and everyone would be invited to their house. Guests usually bring a dish to share. We love trying all the wonderful food as there are dishes from different countries and cuisine. For Christmas, we play a “white elephant” game. We have plenty of pranksters in our group, so you must stay vigilant to hang on to the present you want! For New Year’s celebration, we organize a trip to the mountains where we rent a large house to fit everyone. In the daytime, we pack it full of activities like making snowmen, skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, or snowmobiling. In the evening we play board games, twister, or sing karaoke. In the summertime, we plan two camping trips a year, one for the 4th of July, and another to Lake McConaughy. While camping we go hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking. In the evenings we make marshmallows by the fire, play charades, and sing songs. Another yearly trip that we do is to California, usually timed around one of the local festivals.
Honoring your child’s heritage is a priority for us. Here’s how we plan to celebrate and integrate their unique culture into our family life:
*Since we are a multilingual family, we will facilitate our child’s learning of their heritage language from an early age. This includes providing resources such as books, music, and educational programs in that language. We are committed to learning the language ourselves, both to support our child and to foster a more inclusive and integrated family environment.
We will plan regular trips to our child’s country of origin to help them connect with their cultural roots. We will participate in cultural groups, activities, and events related to their heritage.
Incorporating cultural traditions, such as celebrating holidays and cooking traditional dishes, will be a regular practice.
By taking these steps, we aim to create an environment where our child feels proud of their heritage and fully integrated into our family. Our goal is to celebrate and honor their diversity, providing them with a strong sense of identity and belonging.
We promise to care and love, to be understanding and accepting, to guide and inspire, to give boundaries and support, to empower and encourage. We look forward to happy days full of laughter and joy, but will also be there for sleepless nights and struggles. We promise to be open-minded and ready to listen. We promise to grow with your child, to always strive to be better, and to be self-aware. We promise to be honest. We cannot imagine or understand what you are going through, although we do promise that we will never forget your most selfless and brave act.
