From Us to You

Dear Expectant Mom,

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We send you our deepest gratitude for the courage and love you are showing. We have so much respect for you and the process you are going through. We know that your decision will be made out of pure love for your child and we will do everything we can to honor that. Know that we will love and nurture your baby and provide a place for them to grow up. They will be raised in a warm and understanding home where they can always be themselves and express their beliefs, their individual personality.

Your baby will always come first in our lives. They will know as much about you and your family as you desire. We are honored that you would consider us to be a part of your journey. We know your child will have a life of love and joy, while always having the opportunity to try what their heart desires and have our full support. We look forward to being a part of your child’s dreams, whether they want to be an artist, travel the world or become a doctor. We cannot wait for those moments where they take their first steps, first day of school, first love, school events, and all the ups and downs that children experience in life. Every age will be a new chapter of their incredible story that you have chosen to share with us.

Having children to pass on our love of family, friends, hard work, and enjoying life to the fullest is what we have been looking forward to since we were married 10 years ago. Parenthood will be even more special because we will all (you and us) be sharing our love with your child.

We are excited to welcome your baby into our home, to surround them with love and laughter. We want to share our passion for music, the outdoors, reading, playing board games, building forts, dressing up for a tea party or throwing the ball around. We want to nurture a confident child that will be whoever their heart wishes to be. We will be present for all of the crazy ups and downs that come with being a parent. We will never call ourselves perfect, but instead will be willing to grow and learn as we experience parenthood. We wholeheartedly appreciate you for trusting us to raise your child.

Why We Are Choosing to Adopt

We want to become parents so that we can build memories and share unconditional love with a child. Being able to give a child support and opportunities is very important to us. We already know that becoming parents will change our lives and those closest to us forever. We are humbled by this experience and excited for this lifelong journey as parents! Our Relationship with You

We are excited at the possibility to have an open adoption where we can share all the memories that will be created. We will have absolute respect for as much of an open relationship as you feel comfortable with. We will ensure your child knows the story of their adoption and how we became a family. We will send pictures and letters on a regular basis, as you wish. We want to share special moments in life and share in how beautiful their life is. We will make sure your child knows how special you are and the courageous decision you made to ensure they had a loving and wonderful life.

About Kristin, by Alan

Kristin is the most amazing and beautiful woman, both inside and out, that I have ever met. She has the biggest heart and cares so much for people. These qualities make her a great wife, daughter, friend and future mother. She truly knows what it means to be a kind, honest and understanding person. No matter the time or day she is there for family and friends. She has a smile and laugh that is genuine and one of a kind. She makes life fun and has stood by my side through good and bad times. Kristin is a very smart person who likes to understand how and why things are happening. She is very patient and takes the time to help you and never rushes you. She is my anchor and I know she will be the same for your baby.

About Alan, by Kristin

Alan is a motivated and supportive person. From the moment our story began, he has remained steadfast through many of life’s curves. He is my best friend and my sounding board through life’s moments, both exciting and hard. Alan came from a small town and has two beautiful people as parents. Larry and Anna worked hard and made time to support Alan through all of the things that sparked him. I know that Alan holds family and community high in his heart. Alan has always involved himself in community activities as well as being well known in our neighborhood as a wonderful friend. He believes making the world better starts from within. I am his biggest fan for his hard work, attention to others around him, and being my inspiration. He has convinced me many times to try new things that I would have never considered before. Just listening to him talk and seeing the excitement on his face makes me equally excited. He makes our life together an adventure full of deep love and support. He is someone I know I can run to after a hard day and get a big hug and support from. Alan’s supportive and caring traits will make him a wonderful father.

How We Met

We met the way many people meet today but on a platform that does not exist anymore. We met online on MySpace and then talked off and on for a couple of months until we went on our first date to the Olive Garden. Right away we enjoyed going out to concerts and random day trips for walking and sightseeing. A year later we got engaged before Alan deployed to Afghanistan and married when he returned home from deployment.

Lifestyle

We are some of the most laid-back people you will ever meet. Our home is what we consider our oasis. No matter what is going on in the world we know we have a place to call our own little paradise. We also love going for walks, both in our neighborhood and downtown for a bite!

While we love spending quality time together at home, we also enjoy getting out to experience the world around us. Locally, we like going to concerts to find undiscovered artists. We really enjoy listening to all types of music especially when we are out enjoying the great outdoors. During our free time, we also like to take our dogs camping and hiking.

Living in different parts of the country and the world has made us appreciate learning about new cultures, so we like to attend cultural events. It is important to us that we experience different ways of life, and we look forward to sharing these experiences with your child. Embracing you and your child’s background is important to us.

Home & Neighborhood

Being in the Navy we have lived in California, Japan and Maryland. We are now back in California where we have found our forever home. It is a 3 bedroom house with a great, fully fenced-in backyard where we love spending most of our time. Our puppies have ample amount of room for us to play fetch with them and relax around the fire pit in the evenings. Our neighborhood has everything you need in a small town but within 30 minutes we can be in the big city, beach, desert or even an hour away we can be in the snow. We enjoy having gatherings with our neighbors while grilling and just having a great time as a community. Our neighbors are excited about the opportunity of welcoming your baby into the neighborhood. We look forward to future holidays, gatherings, weekends and just enjoying the outdoors as a family.

Our Dogs

Our dogs Chief and Ce-Ce are a huge part of our lives. Chief is a 9-year-old boxer/hound mix and is the most loving dog you will ever meet. Ce-Ce is a 3-year-old lab mix that is full of energy and just wants to be wherever we are. Anyone who has spent a minute with our dogs knows that Chief and Ce-Ce and immediately wants to spend time with them. They truly love being with people. Both of them are well-behaved, loving dogs who are full of personality. Ce-Ce believes she is a lap dog and will try to sit in your lap even though she is 75 lbs. She has been known to lie on Alan’s chest first thing in the morning. Every morning when we wake up, they go to where their leashes are and wag their tails ready to go for a walk.

Our Families & Friends

Alan grew up in Louisiana where his dad, sister, brother-in-law, their 2 daughters and their family resides today. Alan’s mom passed away 9 years ago but remains one of the most influential people in his life. Kristin is very close to her parents, brother and sister-in-law. She talks to them nearly every day on the phone. We take every opportunity we have to spend with our families. During COVID, we would haul our travel trailer when going on visits so that we could still spend birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas as a family while carefully socially distancing.

We have great friends all over the world: Japan, Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, California, and Idaho. We truly believe in the importance of having great people around you. We could not ask for better friends. They have become a part of our family and we have become part of theirs. So, it’s like we have a really large family who would do anything to help each other.

Traditions

For our traditions, we believe in experiencing as much as we can with our family and friends. No matter where we have lived, we have ensured we celebrate holidays with family even if it was over Skype while we were in Japan. Last year, we drove 3 hours to celebrate Mother’s Day and surprise Kristin’s mom. We spend Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthdays where we cook all day to sit down and enjoy dinner as a family. Being a Florida Gator fanatic, Alan has a rivalry with his nieces who are LSU Tiger Alumni. They go back and forth during all Florida and LSU games no matter the sport. Of course, he can never live it down whenever LSU wins. Kristin calls her parents on their birthday the first thing in the morning even before they wake up if she is not able to drive and wake them up.

What We Will Teach

We will teach your child how to have respect for others. They will understand the importance of self-love and care for themselves. To be mindful and embrace different cultures and try to understand where a person is coming from. To understand that family and friends are a huge part of our lives and to always be there for them. To have a great work ethic and work hard towards the goals they want to achieve in life. They can do anything in life if they are willing to work for it.

Racial & Cultural Diversity

We embrace all cultures as we both have different races, religions, and beliefs in our families and friends. Part of Alan’s family is Hispanic and Kristin’s godparents are an interracial couple being black and white. No matter where we have been stationed in the Navy we have enjoyed learning about the culture and history of the area. Cultural diversity is what makes life great. When stationed in Japan for three years, we enjoyed outings almost every other day, whether for sightseeing or to get a bite to eat. We enjoyed sharing in the ceremonial rituals at festivals as well as celebrating the nation’s holidays. While overseas, we took advantage of being so close to many countries. We were able to visit China, Korea, and Thailand. We learned about so many different cultures and were humbled by the experience of getting out of our comfort zone.
