Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We respect and are truly humbled by your openness to consider adoption. We just want to let you know that if you choose us to be the parents of your child, your child will be coming to a home full of love and support and we would be forever grateful to you.

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Dane and Kim. Dane is a teacher and has been teaching for 8 years now. Kim is a student, studying to go into education. She has been working with children in an after school program for 4 years now, and is through our experiences in the educational field that prompted us to adopt. We understand how special every child is and believe that every child is a precious gift. Right now we see each of our students as “our kids.” We celebrate their success and work with them through the tough times. We really believe that adoption is our calling and eagerly await a child of our own.

Family is very important to the both of us. We live by and are very close with our families. Every week we have dinner at our family’s house, where we laugh and share stories. There is always good food and good company when the family gets together. Our families are eagerly awaiting a new addition. For Dane’s mom it will be her first grandchild and she can’t wait to spoil him/her as only a grandma can. For Kim’s parents, this will be their first grandchild that lives in Hawaii, so they are excited to be able to see them anytime they want. Both families are almost as excited as we are to welcome a new child.

We live in such a beautiful place and can’t wait to share its beauty with your child. We can’t wait to go hiking in a volcano, play in snow at the top of the tallest mountain in the world or go surfing at one of our wonderful beaches. We are a very active couple who loves to exercise and move around and can’t wait to share these passions with your child. Dane also enjoys watching sports, woodworking and running, while Kim likes to cook, bake and craft.

Growing up, our parents instilled a hard work ethic into both of us. We believe that through perseverance anything is possible. This is something that we both value and want to pass down to our child as well. We also value respect, compassion and self-confidence. These are things that we try to teach our students every day and something we will strive to teach your child.

In our house we also have an 8-year-old, spoiled Yorkie Shih Tzu named Manning. She a loving, loyal and beautiful dog who loves to cuddle and follow us around. She blesses us with so many kisses every day. She will make for an amazing “sister” and companion for your child.

We cannot begin to express the gratitude we would have towards you should you allow us to bring your child into our family. All we can promise is that your child will have an enjoyable childhood surrounded by laughter, fun, learning, support and lots of love. We want to thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about our family.

Love,
Dane, Kim & Manning

Q&A

Tell us about your home and neighborhood.

Our home is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house that we own. We are surrounded by older couples who always have company over. We have a park within walking distance and a university, schools and downtown within 10 minutes of our house.

When you have a 3-day weekend, what you like to do?

Sometimes we go for a hike, picnic or BBQ. Other times just stay home and catch up with chores and relax around the house. Or if we want to get away, we drive to the other side of the Island for a stay-cation.

Do you have pets? If so, tell us about them.

We have an 8-year-old, 14 lb. Yorkie Shih Tzu. She is a house dog who is treated as part of the family. She is loving, loyal and a lot of fun.

What do you hope to teach your child(ren)?

We hope to teach your child hard work, dedication, compassion, respect and self-confidence. As educators, these are the same things we try to teach our students as well because above all, we value creating good humans.

What will you tell your child about his or her birthmom?

We would tell them that their birthmom made the hardest choice imaginable but she did what she felt was right. She gave us a beautiful child to raise because she wanted what was best for her child, not herself.

How will a child enrich your life?

A child would bring us joy and purpose. We find ourselves imagining right now about sharing every fun experience with our child and the memories we would start making. A child would allow us to share our love with someone else.

Describe your last vacation and/or daytrip.

Our last vacation was full of eating, exploring and spending time with family. We like to go on morning hikes or exercises, followed by some exploring and relaxing, followed by some amazing eating and family time.

Will you be returning to work? If so, describe your day-care plans.

Kim will be finishing up her schooling so she gives herself the best opportunity to provide for your child. Dane will be returning to work after taking off some months to care for your child. When Dane returns to work, Kim’s mother will provide day care. She lives about 10 minutes away.

When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his or her birth mother?

We would hope that she understands that she is placing her child with a loving couple who will always love him/her with all their heart. We will do everything in our power to raise her child to be compassionate, hardworking and self-confident. We would like the birth mother to be able to heal, knowing her child will be well taken care of and given every opportunity to experience life to the fullest.
