Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves. We are Sarah and Clayton. We are so grateful that you love your unborn child so dearly that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for him or her. Wherever your journey leads you we hope that you find comfort in knowing that you have chosen a life where this beautiful child will be cherished every day. Entrusting your child to be raised by someone else requires incredible strength, honesty and most of all love for your child. We are incredibly honored to be considered as adoptive parents.

We have an amazing family that we absolutely adore. Through our tough times, our families have been our support and provide us with the utmost love. They are eager to meet the beautiful bundle of joy and welcome them into our family. We have brothers and sisters who have children and we cherish the time we get to spend with our nieces and nephews. We also have three of the cutest, cuddly animals. We have a pug named Chloe. She just turned 11 and she loves to snuggle and snore. She loves to play with kids from baby to teenager and share her kisses. We also have a white cat named Snowball who is 14. He loves to snuggle and purr. We also own a 2-year-old cat names Frost. She is a cuddler also (when she feels like it) and loves to play. All of our animals are great with children. Our nieces and nephews often come in to play with them and they are all so good together.

We are excited to give you a glimpse into our lives to help you imagine your child as part of our family. We met 18 years ago and have been married for 11. We have wanted to be parents for a long time and after a stillborn at 26 weeks and numerous miscarriages, we feel strongly that adoption is our next step. Through our trials, we have become a strong couple who cherish life and truly understand the miracle a baby is. Together we are incredibly excited to be parents and have so much love to give.

We want you to know how much we respect you for considering adoption. After having our own losses, we cannot imagine what you are feeling and what a difficult decision this is for you. Your child will always know the great love you had for him or her. Your decision to choose adoption shows great bravery and selflessness. We want you to know that we want what is best for your baby, just as you do and we will do everything in our power to provide the child a positive life.

Sincerely,
Sarah and Clayton

Q&A

Tell us about your home and neighborhood.

Our home is a very large house with a 1st floor and 4 accessory units, or apartments. Sarah’s parents live on the main floor and we live in one of the units, with Sarah’s brother and sister as our neighbors. Clayton and I as well as Sarah’s siblings live in the accessory units. We have a large front yard with a basketball hoop and large driveway for kids to ride bikes. We also have a large fenced-in back yard with a swing set and beach sand to make sand castles. In the summer we have small fires in the outdoor fireplace in the back yard where we roast marshmallows and listen to music. Our neighborhood is filled with children from babies to high schoolers. Our child will mix in great with the neighborhood kids. We live on a safe cul-de-sac with about 20 houses and across the street from us is a farm. It is very quiet and quite a pretty area. The school system and the programs they offer are phenomenal. They offer almost every sport for boys and girls and also arts and crafts options. It is a great town to live in with a lot of options for your child to be active within the community.

When you have a 3-day weekend, what you like to do?

On a three-day weekend we like to enjoy some time with family. Often we will have a cookout or dinner to see each other and catch up. Other times, we will go on a walk through the local town parks. We enjoy walking in the fresh air and looking at the beautiful scenery and architecture. We also enjoy going to local farmer’s markets and flea markets to purchase local food and artistry.

Do you have pets? If so tell us about them?

We have a pug named Chloe. She just turned 11 and she loves to snuggle and snore. She loves to play with kids from baby to teenager and share her kisses. We own a white cat named Snowball, he is 14 and he loves to snuggle and purr. We also own a 2-year-old cat named Frost. She is a cuddler also (when she feels like it) and loves to play. All of our animals are great with children. Our nieces and nephews often come in to play with them and they are all so good together.

What do you hope to teach your child(ren)?

We want to teach our child about the importance of family. Having a family that loves you and supports you is one of the most important things that we want our child to know and endure. We are fortunate enough to have a family that loves and supports us through everything we do. We also want our child to learn about life in general, see the world in their own eyes and learn. We hope to journey around the United States and teach them about history, singers, actors and all the amazing things the world is full of. Allowing a child to see it with their own eyes is important to us. Neither of us were able to travel much as children due to our families not being able to afford it. We will help your child to see the world through their own eyes, rather than on TV.

What will you tell your child about his or her birthmom?

We plan to discuss thoroughly with their birth mom the plan she wants to have in place. Some birth parents want to be involved and others choose not to. We want to respect her wishes and make a plan together. Our plan is to teach her child from infancy up all about their adoption and how important their birth mother is.

Describe your last vacation and/or day trip

Our last vacation we went to visit our aunt, uncle and cousin in Florida. We enjoyed some time with our family while enjoying the local tourist attractions. We enjoyed time at the beach and site seeing. We also enjoyed the local town stores with a lot of artistic products. Our favorite part was going to the Japanese gardens. They were absolutely stunning and an amazing sight to see. We look forward to returning their again. The Japanese gardens are filled with Japanese trees, flowers, homes and bridges. The scenery was stunning and it was an amazing day spent with our family.

Will you be a stay-at-home parent? If so, what are your day-to-day plans?

Sarah is able to take 16 weeks off after the baby is born. Clayton will also get 4 weeks of leave. After the 16 weeks, Sarah will return initially part time with the hopes of returning to full time on her compressed schedule in the future.

When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms, what are your thoughts regarding his or her birth mother?

When we close our eyes we picture an angel who is courageous, scared, amazing, loving and giving. To do what you are doing is one of the most amazing, thoughtful, loving things a parent can do for their child. We have the utmost respect and love for you and we haven’t even met you yet. There is fear and uncertainty in your plans but you can be assured that we will cherish your child and love them with all of our hearts. We will also love and cherish you, their birth parent for being such an amazing person.
