From Us to You

We can’t wait to love your child! Giving us the gift of parenthood would be unimaginable and priceless in our eyes.  Your child will be the center of our world and family. Not only will they be given every opportunity possible, but we will be there supporting them at every step. Our unconditional love will allow them to thrive in life. We promote love, creativity, and adventure in our home.

We met in high school and were the best of friends until college. It’s corny to say that you should marry your best friend–but we actually did. We’ve been involved in each other’s lives since we were 15 and wouldn’t change a thing.

Having a child has been our priority for the last 7 years. A child is the missing piece to our family and the most important thing in our lives. Before getting married, we talked about children and having a family. Our common interests in food, sports, and music made us excited to share our love with a child. We often talk about the day when our family will be complete.

We want your child to experience life to the fullest. This includes being closely involved with cousins and extended family. They too have loved this child long before meeting them. Our 8 nieces and nephews can’t wait to add another cousin to the bunch. They look forward to building memories with him or her.

Our love of travel and adventure will be passed on to your child. They will be involved in outdoor activities and explorations. You can often find us “up north” at the cabin. Here, we make memories that include beach days, bonfires, family BBQs, and breathless Michigan sunsets. Our two dogs; Leroy and Charlie, love to explore with us as well. They love to swim and chase tennis balls regardless of the weather. Family hikes (aka, walks at our local metro park) are amongst some of their favorite activities. We will share our love of cooking and sports from an early point in their lives. Our favorite day of the week is Sunday when we enjoy hosting “football Sunday.” Our family relaxes while watching sports, eating delicious food, and enjoying each others’ company. Cooking is something we do almost nightly. We love to try new recipes and new restaurants whenever possible. Food from every culture is included in our weekly menus. Oftentimes, we end our week with Pizza Fridays from local pizza joints!

We can’t imagine what you are feeling at this time, but we respect this decision more than words can express. Your story of strength and selflessness will be shared throughout your child’s life. They will be given the opportunity to ask questions. Your story is just as important in their lives as ours. We can’t express our thanks enough and hope it gives you give you comfort that your child will be loved extensively by both us and our entire family. We will give them a stable, supportive life. We can’t wait to become a family.

Why We are Choosing to Adopt

We have wanted to become parents for many years. We feel compelled to open our lives and home and often talk about when our family will be complete. We tried to pursue medical treatments, but they did not work. We know that a child is a missing piece to our family and decided that adoption is the perfect route to grow our family.

How We Met

When we were in high school, Zack was always the one to make others laugh. His humor and lighthearted personality instantly drew Nancy in. As one of her best friends, he was always there for her for years before dating. We sang country music and enjoyed summer nights together. We are still best friends. We can know each other’s thoughts simply by a look. Our personalities complement each other. Our common interests have only grown our friendship and marriage.

About Nancy, by Zack

Nancy has always been a fun-loving, good-humored person since I first met her in 9th grade. Nancy always shines extra bright when it comes to helping someone else, whether at the soup kitchen volunteering for the community, or a friend or family member needing help. She is a perfect listening ear and a comforting shoulder for anyone she knows. Simply put, she is one of the best people I know. Nancy is generous, compassionate, and caring. Someone who sees the world with an open heart and open arms. Nancy has always taken pride in trying to be the hardest worker in the room. Her dedication and loyalty have helped her to succeed in every challenge she has faced. Nancy is going to make an amazing, fun mother who teaches her child to be strong-hearted and compassionate like herself.

About Zack, by Nancy

Zack has always been the funniest man in the crowd. He is quick-witted and enjoys a good laugh. His sense of humor makes him glow at all times and has helped strengthen our marriage. He is lighthearted and emotional in one package. His heart of gold has been the backbone of our relationship for the past 11 years. He works as an electrician, but his true love lies in the culinary arts. Zack attended college for his love of cooking before realizing that he’d enjoy it more as a hobby. He loves creating new recipes for friends and family, and I know he will have so much fun introducing all different kinds of food to your child. Zack loves to entertain and make others feel comfortable. He has always rooted for the underdog in life whether it be in sports or movies. His extensive knowledge of movie history often keeps us wanting to watch the latest thriller. Zack can’t wait to share his life with a little one. He looks forward to attending activities and rooting your child on whether it be in sports, arts, or music.

Lifestyle

Our lifestyle revolves around each other. Though we both work during the day, our happy place is our home. On normal weeks, we come home from work and cook a meal together. Most of the time, music is playing throughout the kitchen while we talk and laugh. After dinner, we like to watch our weekly shows which include the Food Network or the latest TV craze like Yellowstone. On the weekends during the summer, we love to travel to the cabin. The weekends there are filled with sunshine and the beach. We love to walk the dogs at dusk and finish our days with an ice cream cone. When we aren’t up north, you can find us outside playing basketball or entertaining the dogs in the yard. A few times a year, we like to take Leroy and Charlie to the local park where they swim and fetch tennis balls. In the winter, we often have movie marathons and cuddle up with a home-cooked meal on the weekends.

Charlie and Leroy, Our Dogs

We have two dogs. Their names are Charlie and Leroy. Leroy was the first to join our family in 2016. He is a German Shepherd whose personality is out of this world. He loves to run and play ball in the yard. He absolutely adores the water. If we aren’t at the lake in the summer, you can find him in the backyard splashing in his kiddie pool. He would swim all day if we allowed it. Despite Leroy looking tough, he is quite the big baby. He loves to snuggle during movie nights and can’t wait for his dad to get home. Charlie was rescued from a local shelter. She is the sweetheart of our family. She loves to play fetch and would do anything for her favorite green ball. Charlie loves every single human she’s ever met. She melts onto her back and asks for a belly rub at every chance. She gives kisses to anyone that will allow her to! Both dogs love when our nieces and nephews come to visit. They get to snuggle on the bed during special occasions and love every second of it. Charlie and Leroy can’t wait to meet your baby!

Home & Neighborhood

We live in a town with the best parks and restaurants, in our opinion. We are close to small cities and not far from family. Zack and Grandpa Jody (AKA Pop Pop), flipped our house in 2015. Everything from the floors, drywall, and exterior were made brand new. Our home sits on half an acre which is fenced and holds huge trees that provide shade during the warm Michigan summers. Our deck and front porch are always filled with flowers and pots of growing vegetables. Seating areas can be found in the front part of our house as well as the back deck. Our basketball hoop on the driveway gets its use during the summer months. We also love to host movie nights on the driveway where we watch movies on the television in the garage while sitting around a campfire. Our home has 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The house is one story so we are never far from each other! Our home is our safe place. We love it when the home is filled with family, friends, laughter and love.

Racial & Cultural Diversity

Our family and friend group is diverse. We have relationships with people of all ethnicities, ages, and cultures. To ensure your child understands their culture and others, we plan to join adoption groups with all kinds of people and children. We will be inclusive with toys and books of all types of ethnicities. We will purchase books from a young age helping to show how we love and accept everyone and many types of people.

Travel

Traveling is a large part of our life and your child will be included in our adventures as they grow older. We like to explore different areas of nature. Some of our favorite trips include Alaska, Yosemite National Park, Zion National Park and tropical destinations. When traveling, we feel closest to each other and feel blessed to experience this with the one we love. We often talk about having a child with us on these adventures. Camping and backpacking will be part of their upbringing. We will show them parts of the world as much as possible. We hope they enjoy the beauty of the outdoors just as much as we do.

Our Families

We love our family! Nancy grew up with 3 siblings; Rachel, James and Andrew. They are all close in age so they have much in common! Rachel and her husband James have 4 children; Tyler, Alexis, Levi and Ava. They love to play in their yard with their chickens, bikes and trampoline. James and Andrew have always been huge sports fans and don’t live far from us. They look forward to adding another member of the family.  Nancy’s mom and dad love to host BBQs at their home on the lake. Grandma Laura and Grandpa Ken can’t wait to meet the newest addition to our family! They have been praying for you for years. Zack has 2 sisters; Ashley and Lindsey. Ashley and husband Alex have two daughters named Lena and Vivian. They love to swim in their pool in the summer and host pool parties! Lindsey and husband Jessee have two children, Noah and Iris. They love to explore their backyard and read about dinosaurs. They are ecstatic about having another cousin to play with! Grandma Sue (Gigi) and Grandpa Jody (Pop Pop) love to have the whole family together. They host the entire extended family on Christmas every year which is always a day full of love and laughter. They are anxiously waiting for the arrival of their newest grandchild! We all can’t wait to love you!

Family Traditions

Celebrating holidays with our family is important to us. We spend time with each other laughing, eating, and enjoying each others’ company. Christmas and Christmas Eve are always big days. Zack’s family holds a large gathering where a competitive game of White Elephant is always the life of the party. Nancy’s family exchange gifts over good food and even better company! Thanksgiving is normally a day full of thankfulness and food. We often reflect with family on our blessings before overindulging in delicious food. During the summer month holidays, you can find us at Grandpa Ken and Grandma Laura’s lake house or at the cabin. While at the lake house, we take golf cart rides throughout the neighborhood before grilling and laughing around the bonfire at dusk. There are often fireworks displays over the lake that we will attend and enjoy as a group.

When things are tough, we will ensure that perseverance and love can endure anything.
